Nuzlocke Legacy Challenge
Rules:
Play ten generations of the same family, starting with one sim on an empty lot with $0.
Play on short lifespan with need decay set to the default value.
Every sim in the family must have the Chased by Death trait, plus two different traits of your choice (you can randomize them if you want). The only exception is in the case of marriage.
You may only interact with the first sim you see upon traveling to a certain neighborhood (route). If they disappear before you can introduce yourself to them, your encounter is failed. You must marry one of the sims you find.
You may only travel to the neighborhoods of one world per generation. So if you travel to all three neighborhoods in Willow Creek for gen 1, no other generation can do that.
If you or your spouse dies before your oldest child ages up to a young adult, both additional traits that your sim had are locked out and cannot be used again in the nuzlocke.
You cannot repeat aspirations or careers.
Infants must gain three milestones in each category (social, motor, fine motor, and firsts) before aging up. Alternatively, you may just wait for their birthdays.
Toddlers need atleast level three in each skill before aging up. If you fail to do so, the toddler trait they had is locked out and cannot be used again.
Children and teens need an A in highschool.
A sim may not travel outside their home lot until they age up to young adult.
Complete your aspiration and reach level ten of your career before your sim passes away. If you fail to do either, the two non chased-by-death traits are locked out and cannot be used again, as are the aspiration and career path.
If at any point you run out of available traits, aspirations, or careers, you fail the challenge and must restart.
If you cannot find a spouse out of the neighborhoods available, you must have a science baby or adopt. You may not move another sim into your household.
Spirits must be released to the netherworld as soon as possible. No ghosts are allowed to be present, nor are sims allowed to come back to life through any means. No pleading, no ambrosia, no wishing well, nothing.
You win when you successfully play through ten generations under these rules.
This game becomes harder the less packs you have, but you only truly need Life and Death for this. If you only have Base Game and Life and Death, you may use lots as routes instead of neighborhoods.

I can't speak for everyone, but I know a lot of people like to base their designs on the actors, the majority of whom are white/white passing I absolutely agree that there should be more representation in Epic animatics, but I also understand why there isn't.
Basing the characters off the actors allows them to be more recognizable, and considering most people use the animatics to introduce people to Epic, it's good to have something of a base line.
Additionally, there are canon designs for these characters, all of which are HEAVILY based on the actors. It's not that they go out of their way to draw Calypso, Antinous, Eurylochus, etc as people of color, their actors literally look like that. All of the characters are atleast partially based on the actors, so the fact that they look a certain way is because their actors look that way.
Again, I understand the want for more representation. If someone wants to design an Odysseus who's a poc, by all means, go for it, I can't wait to see it. But at the same time, calling people racist for drawing the canon designs or designs based on the actors is not the right way to go about seeking representation.
I would love just one ounce of self-awareness from some goddamn epic fanartists like hey don't you think it's at least a liiiiiiiittle bit racist that you draw all the antagonists (Calypso, Antionus, Eurylochus, the suitors, even the gods) as clearly people of color while keeping Odysseus, Penelope, etc. all very white and anglo-appearing?? Like bro you're peppering of "representation" is racist as hell if the only ones who are poc are unhelpful/cannon fodder at best jesus fucking christ

after God Games, Athena can't turn into an owl because her wings took such a beating (this also means she can't fly but that's bedside the point.
But she still needs to keep an eye on Telemachus without drawing too much attention.
Her solution? Her other sacred animal!
The snake.
Yep. So after Odysseus returns, Telemachus walks around with a snake around his shoulders instead of an owl following him.
The people are very concerned. Nobody has the guts to ask what happened to the owl. The prince doesn't seem to mind so they just let it be.

Penelope’s challenge is incredible
lets break it down:
"Whoever can string
This seems like the easy part of the challenge. Stringing the bow turns out to be the impossible task.
--
"My husband's old bow"
Worth noting that she says "my husband’s old bow" and not "my old husband’s bow"
Contrast that with Hold Them Down
"Whoever can string the old king's bow"
Odysseus is still her husband, regardless of how the rest of them see it.
--
"And shoot through twelve axes CLEANLY"
It's not enough for them to string the bow and shoot through twelve axes, they have to do it CLEANLY. If they are going to complete the Challenge, it cannot be by dumb luck or by sloppy execution. It has to be clean.
--
"Will be the new king, sit down at the throne, and rule with me as his queen"
New king, not her new husband.
His queen, not his wife.
Sit at the throne, but not necessarily belong there.
Even if, by some impossible chance, someone did accomplish the task, they would not be her husband. She would never accept it.

Messaging people for the first time is so hard. What am I supposed to say? Like, "You seem really odd and your blog intrigues me. Do you want to have philosophical conversations or perhaps talk about fictional characters?" What! Whatever. I will just follow you back and stare at your blog with my big beautiful brown eyes.

You ever realize that the Odyssey wouldn't have happened in today's day and age because Ody could just call home when he got lonely

I've seen a few people point out that it doesn't really make sense for the Sirens to be able to drown
Given the Sirens in Epic are likely the mermaid version as opposed to the bird women, it doesn't add up that creatures who live in the sea could drown.
However, I am here to make this part so much worse for the Sirens and make Odysseus seem all the more monstrous.
So you know lobsters? (This relates, I promise)
Lobsters are actually functionally immortal, with the main requirements for them to live being to molt, eat, don't get eaten, and breath.
However, in the wild, Lobsters will usually encounter many health threats, such as barnacles, which hinder their ability to do one or more of those things. Most commonly, the inability to molt is the cause of death in lobsters.
They aren't really immortal, as the older they get, the harder is is for them to molt. They lose the energy to molt properly, and end up just sitting on the ocean floor until they die.
Now, as far as we know, Sirens don't need to molt. So what does this have to do with anything?
Well, most aquatic creatures have similar requirements for life: Eat, breath, and don't get eaten.
Now what happens if said creature can't move?
You may know that sharks can't stop moving or they won't be able to breathe. They need the movement to help cycle oxygen through their gills, or else they will die.
And you may have heard about sea creatures who lost the energy to move and died, seemingly by drowning. Now, animals who breathe under water can't exactly drown like humans can, but they can end up unable to move, unable to hunt, and therefore, unable to eat.
What does this mean?
Well, Odysseus tells the crew to cut off the siren's tails, effectively destroying any movement they have. Since they can no longer swim, they can't hunt, or out-swim predators.
Additionally, they are likely still bleeding out when they are thrown back into the water, which will either kill them by blood loss, or it will attract a predator to kill them.
Tl;dr: the sirens won't technically drown. What they will do, is bleed out, starve, or be eaten by a predator.
And Odysseus does this to them seemingly without remorse.

So, as Jay explained, when a siren's song reaches your ears, they gain access to your memories. However, when they can't fully get the spell through, the memories get a bit warped.
So, assuming the Siren can take on the form of someone from your memories, what happens to their appearance when they get the most important people to you crossed?
Now, Penelope would likely be the main basis for the appearance, since Odysseus' love for his wife is a very surface level memory that wouldn't require the full spell to access.
But what if the siren also got sections of memories with the other women he's met, and is unable to properly parse who is who? Mixing up aspects from various women with Penelope.
What I mean is, imagine a siren Penelope design that looks close to Penelope herself, but with features from other women in his life.
(I'm using my designs for these characters as an example)
My Penelope has a bun, while my Circe has a loose braid with some hair infront of her face. I would give Sirenelope a loose braid-bun with Circe's "bangs".
My Penelope also wears a dress without sleeves, but my Anticlea design has a long veil that covers most of her upper body. I would give Sirenelope her normal gown, but with an almost shawl-like fabric draped over her shoulders and arms.
I may make her occasionally appear as though she has fully white eyes (like Athena does), or have a clip in her hair (like my Ctimene design), etc.
Since he hasn't met Calypso by this point in the story, I wouldn't include any features from her, given she wouldn't be in his memories.
Idk it's just an idea

i am well thank you for asking
When a character sings in a softer, more falsetto-esce voice, it symbolizes vulnerability. See, most of Just A Man, Eurylochus in Puppeteer, and more.
With the softer vocals thing, in Mutiny, when Odysseus sings only to Eurylochus in the overlapping part ("Please don't do this"), he's using that more vulnerable tone
However, when the crew comes in, he shifts to more of his normal voice. Except for one line
"Eurylochus"
He sings Eurylochus' name both times using that more vulnerable voice

Deep Down
friendly reminder that Scylla is semi-telepathic
That's how she new Eurylochus was hiding something
How she knows Odysseus is like her

Couple things
1. In Mutiny, the way Armando Julian says "Captain", he kind of spits it out, like he's disgusted to call this man his captain right now
2. In the animatic from ElianZis, Eurylochus was originally holding a torch. He helps someone up and hands them a torch then runs off to try and save someone else. The person he ran to save gets killed and drops their torch, which makes Eurylochus realize that, by giving someone else his torch, he essentially marked someone for death.
3. Eurylochus starts off Mutiny not yelling, but pleading with Odysseus. He is still in shock after Scylla, and is trying to find any reason that Odysseus, his captain, king, and brother, would let six men die. He begs for an alternative solution even though he can already guess the truth. He knows Odysseus is a renowned liar, so by saying "use your wits to try and say I'm crazy and mad", he's basically saying "LIE TO ME AND TELL ME IT ISN'T WHAT I THINK." He's desperate for another reason... paralleling Odysseus in the end of The Horse and The Infant. Odysseus begs for an alternative option, even though deep down he knew there wasn't one. Eurylochus is doing the same thing here.
