Poor Man’s Gambit deals with burn out. Trying to do the best that you can and wanting to make a difference and feeling like you can’t or what you’re doing isn’t enough in the face of overwhelming bad news. “Your best” just isn’t good enough for other people. And so, it is also about hope, the importance of community and compassion, and relationships with other people.

The cast features two different major groups: people in a position of power to maintain order through the civilian guard who interact with the city’s people by addressing crimes and trying to solve murders and mysteries; and a refugee group coming into the city and trying to navigate it’s foreign customs as well as grappling to try to rebuild a life they had to leave behind in a city that seems to reject them.

(Story spun-off a Kesuan as a beloved NPC in a home dnd campaign i was running for a few years. Loved him and the setting so here’s a comic about it)
