Sex ed resources recommended by queer people for queer people!
Since we don’t learn squat in public school about sexual safety beyond PIV, I’ve asked the queer community in WA, USA for resources. Below is a master list of the recommendations I got. Some of these do not have proper language surrounding the existence trans people. As a trans person myself, I’ve left off the ones that are particularly bad about that. It sucks that we don’t have very many good resources that take our existence into account in their language, but here we are. Books (some have audio book formats)
Girl Sex 101 by Allison Moon (not gender specific as the title suggests, according to the person who recommended this one)
I Love Female Orgasm: An Extraordinary Orgasm Guide by Dorian Solot and Marshall Miller (If you have a vulva or ever have sex with someone who has a vulva, then this book is for you.)
Our Whole Lives: Sexuality Education for Young Adults, Ages 18-35 by Michael J. Tino, Laura Anne Stuart, and Sarah Gibb Millspaugh
S.E.X. by Heather Corinna (the founder of the Scarleteen web site in the Online Sources section below)
In-Person Resources
The Center for Sex Positivity puts on all kinds of workshops in the greater Seattle area.
The library at Gay City in Seattle, WA has a full section on sex/sexuality. Classes and workshops at your local Planned Parenthood.
Online Sources
Bedsider (a resource about birth control)
Free Emotional Labor (Facebook group where you can potentially ask for resources)
Fucking Trans Women (a how-to zine)
Oh Joy Sex Toy (web comic)
Planned Parenthood (information about over a dozen different STDs) (PP still says “STD” on their web site for “Sexually Transmitted Disease” even though a lot of other places have updated to “STI” for “Sexually Transmitted Infection.”)
Primed: The Back Pocket Guide for Trans Men and the Men who Dig Them
San Francisco City Clinic (chart of how various STIs can be passed)
Scarleteen (vast resource of information recommended by multiple queers, founded by the author of the book S.E.X. as found in the Books section above)
Sexplanations (a YouTube channel run by an actual medical professional)
Trans Sex Activity Book
Trans Sexuality: A safe Guide for Trans People and their Partners
Trans Sex Zine (volumes 1 and 2)
Trans Youth Sexual Health Booklet (heads up for nude drawings as soon as you open this link)

Just to add in case anyone didn’t know: Donating money to your local food bank is pretty much always one of the best ways to stretch a dollar as far as it can to feed the most people possible. [x]
Charities/organisations to avoid:
PETA: They’d rather spend their money on publicity campaigns than on the animals in their care. PETA killed 73.8% of the animals in their care in 2015 (x)
FCKH8: Is a for-profit company that exploits oppressed groups for money. They’re also wildly uninformed, and spread misogyny, cissexism and bi/panphobia, as well as stealing their posts/designs (x)
Autism Speaks: They spend most of their money on researching a way to eliminate autism, heighten the stigma against autism and don’t have a single autistic person on their board (x)
Please support other, better charities, and feel free to add any others you can think of to this.

Event/scene organizer’s #MeToo pledge:
I, [state name], promise to do my best to hold people accountable for sexual assault in my event/scene. To this end, I will default to believing survivors. I will not hire people on or take volunteers as organizers, bouncers, DJs, teachers, door staff, or any other event-related roles who have been accused of sexual assault. If I am accused of sexual assault I will continue to default to believing the survivor, and I will set the standard I want to see by immediately stepping down or going on hiatus from my role, signing up for consent courses with the intention of correcting my future behavior, and working with the survivor through a mediator or other accountability personnel to make sure I do anything I can to help the survivor’s recovery. I will not take a leadership or organizational role until that process is completed because the power of the social capital that comes with leadership makes coercion easy and accountability difficult.

“Jesus christ eat the goddamn mac and cheese.” scowls the hero “I can hear your stomach growling through your armor, you know.”
The villain blinks “You-”
“Are feeding you, yes. If all I wanted to do was punch people and throw criminals in jail, I would’ve become a vigilante. Heroism involves kindness, dipshit.”
