Ugh. I moved to Mexico right before joanns was murdered and I love how reasonable the fabric is (but ppl make way less money here so don't be jingoist. Most expensive Joanna fabric was $60 a yard, modetelas is $10).

But they don't do patterns for the most part. That seems to be an English speaking country way. I have a massive stash in the states but I've missed them and been trying haphazardly with pdf tests.

If anyone has bought big 4pdf we should make a collective cuz that's our best bet.

I think if premade patterns die it'll be a big shock for most sewists. See there's two types of sewing: dressmaker (old term, ie you use a pattern), or draper/tailor (draper you make it on your own draping on a model, tailoring is dif and more precise but not off pre made mass patterns).

So one way is gonna die. I'm a millennial and I'm the only person I know who keeps a printer. I always needed it for documents and legal stuff and business stuff and later art. Most of my younger fam don't even have laptops. These people are not gonna put $150 in a shitty break every 5 years printer to test out sewing.

Yes etsy and co still exists. But I, sewist of 12 years, struggled with a well known pdf pattern maker (bitch is uber tall and drafts her patterns that way), and out of several good pdf etsy buys I just bought one buy someone who couldn't spell correctly or put what piece was what (and it was a corset ie complicated and not to easy to go by pattern shape). I got my money back but the seller was a massive bitch about it.

So yeah…this is gonna be the ratification of a very in need skill

Heads up if you're a sewing hobbyist...

Buy those patterns you've been thinking about while you still can.

My formative years were unfortunately spent in rural Iowa (which doesn't even have a city by definition of what counts as a city per sq foot). Most of the state is very rural, ppl never leave, they rarely meet non white ppl and most towns if u ask say well we have the Rodriguez family in terms of non white ppl.

Its a state that had a nazi as a congress person for like 20 years. And has had zombie chuck grasley in office since 1980.

Now that I've set the scene I was often warned against going to Waterloo which is totally a city (30,000). Its also the only town w a sizeable black population. I've often been warned they have riots there u know (they had one in the 70s cuz the school forbid interracial dating).

Plus normal racism and fear about taking ur cd player front off so it can't be stolen and make sure I lock my car (a thing most Iowans don't do ever for anything including houses).

Des Moines, the largest town, is like Nyc to these ppl. Same warnings cuz again only other area w a healthy non white population. I'd be warned how I'd be robbed and raped and assaulted if I wasn't careful in Des moines.

I later lived in LA babes and Im in Mexico rn. So this is very funny in retrospect. Iowans rural hell is its biggest problem: cancer causing pesticides, deaths of despair, meth and now fentanyl fueling those when alcohol wont do. The real danger is standing out, esp if ur non white or openly queer.

Fwiw in my city living and travels I've only been accosted once but a mentally unwell homeless person (I was safe). No rapes or robberies. No thefts unless u count losing my wallet and not getting it back (rolled off the top of my car).

These are the ppl who believe everything trump says cuz they'll never dare go to a city themselves. As a kid I begged to go to Chicago which they treated like trump does rn. I actually have been a few times and resent the city cuz of bitchass reasons not crime ones (my sister lived there). Otherwise it was nice. Small but nice. Filthy af tho.

We had Dennis and Dees mom die off screen and the gang is pushing 50 so seems like a thing that would happen more n more. Since Lynne Marie really died I bet it'd be too sensitive to do next season. Eventually they'll wanna reference Mac’a mom as long as she's able and it'll half to come up. But it could be a few seasons

Potentially a hot take, but I really don’t think they are going to work Bonnie Kelly’s passing into the next season. I feel like it would be way too much considering Charlie’s already lost his father, is now losing Frank, and we have a whole Macdennis situation to figure out (plus I’m hopeful we’ll get a good Dee storyline in.) I thought the tribute at the end of Golden Bachelor was beautiful and I really don’t see the need to double back on that
