With @vladdyissues sharing this gif in that poll about Amity Park's location, it seems pretty set that Amity Park is in Indiana, not Illinois.
Tumblr media
Leaving aside where that clip has been through all the debates about its location, it does mean we could do something fun with it.
You see, one of the few things I know about Indiana is that time has been...inconsistently handled there, historically.
I don't mean they flip-flop on whether to use DST. I mean they flip flopped between using DST and not using DST, and between using Eastern Time versus Central time, not on a state level, but on a county level. State law only made every county observe DST in 2006.
From Wikipedia:
The tz database lists 11 time zones for Indiana, where each zone is defined as a geographic area that observed the same offsets from UTC since January 1, 1970.
And that's not all! In 1978, some guy named Thomas Shanks published The American Atlas, in which he "identified 345 areas in the state with a different time zone history for each."
345 areas. In 1978, before several additional county-level changes to time zones.
The wikipedia article I'm pulling this from, Time in Indiana (yes it really has its own article) also says:
Attitudes began to change in the 1990s, as Indiana's time zone situation was seen as impeding the state's economic growth. Interstate travel and commerce were difficult as people wondered, "what time is it in Indiana?"
That's right, the situation was so comically bad that it affected the economy. Incredible.
What I'm saying is: You know that occasional idea where Amity Park's just a little bit out of time from everywhere around it? Just a little off-kilter, hard to find by accident?
In Indiana, time is already weird. How hard would it be for ghosts to make that a little bit more literal?

Project Update: May 15th
As I'm getting the last few recipes submitted, I've been thinking about the scope of this project and when I should set deadlines, so- here it goes;
Recipe Submission Deadline: June 25th You can submit here (and here ONLY, anything submitted in my inbox or comments will NOT be counted!)
Artist Interest Check Deadline: July 10th I've had several people express interest in providing art for the project, and although I was planning on handling the visuals on my own- I also think having others within the community to help would cut production time.
The form may be filled out here, and be aware that there are limited slots (3) and to not take it personally if you aren't selected. (Keep in mind before filling out that this will be an unpaid position, as it is a passion project).
Projected final deadline: October 25th? Assuming everything goes to plan, I am shooting for an October release. It also depends on if we get work done early- though I'd like to take as long as needed to ensure a quality final product.
This is not written in stone and is subject to change, so keep an eye out for updates.

The (un)Official Danny Phantom Cookbook is in development!
Have you ever wanted to bake delicious treats that remind you of a sorta-okay Nickelodeon cartoon from the 2000s? Are you stuck eating take out and frozen food and need to mix it up a bit? Do you just want a cook book that's Danny Phantom themed, specifically?
This is the project for you!
This project is currently being developed by @/ghoulishautism and in collaboration with trusted friends/mutuals.
However! I have recently made a google form for recipe submissions (since that will be the centerpiece of the entire project). The guidelines will be provided within the first page of the form.
this form will be closed in the event that 1) We have collected more than enough recipes for the project (aiming for at least 1 per character), or 2) The form is abused in any way.
Multiple submissions are more than fine, just be sure to use the same name so you can be properly credited.
Inbox is open for any questions regarding the project, its rules, etc.
QNA (will be updated).
Q: When will the cookbook be released? A: A due date has yet to be announced. However, I am hoping it will take about 3 months to complete. This is not a hard number and there is a chance there will be delays.
Q: Where will it be available? A: It will be hosted FOR FREE to download on platforms such as my ko-fi and others. Again, this section will be clarified once the project moves further into development.
Q: What is the target audience for this cookbook? A: Aside from fans of Danny Phantom (duh), I want to include a range of recipes for various skill levels- Which will theoretically be perfect for families...or broke college students.
Q: How will the book be formatted? A: The book itself will be sectioned into categories (snacks, breakfast/lunch/dinner, etc) and include important labels (spicy, kosher/halal, vegan/vegetarian, etc)
My goal is to make it as easy to navigate as possible. There will be a table of contents at the start so its easier to jump to specific recipes.

Named Casper High Students
In Danny's class

Also probably in Danny's class

Not in Danny's class

Pic 1: We all know these people.
Pic 2: Girls names are from Tucker's PDA in Beauty Marked. You can find fandom wiki pages for all of them except for poor Annie who for some reason seems to have no mention.

FANON: Agent F (Brittany)
Boys names have come up in conversations. Nathan has been called both Nathan and Lester. His full name could very well be Nathan Lester regardless of if the two different names were on purpose or they simply forgot he already had a name. (Or you could make them identical twins.)
Pic 3: We all know Jazz. Others are one-off characters who have a name but we see them only once. Spike appears in the Mystery Meat with Jazz:
"Spike, you have to open up to your parents! Be true to yourself and them."
Nate makes an appearance in Attack of the Killer Garage Sale :
"Here's your pizza, Sam."
"Thanks, Nate."
Lyle is a band kid from Splitting Images :
"Hi. I'm Lyle. Wanna help me clean my spit valve?"
This is his instrument

Ref Recs for Whump Writers
Violence: A Writer’s Guide:  This is not about writing technique. It is an introduction to the world of violence. To the parts that people don’t understand. The parts that books and movies get wrong. Not just the mechanics, but how people who live in a violent world think and feel about what they do and what they see done.
Hurting Your Characters: HURTING YOUR CHARACTERS discusses the immediate effect of trauma on the body, its physiologic response, including the types of nerve fibers and the sensations they convey, and how injuries feel to the character. This book also presents a simplified overview of the expected recovery times for the injuries discussed in young, otherwise healthy individuals.
Body Trauma: A writer’s guide to wounds and injuries. Body Trauma explains what happens to body organs and bones maimed by accident or intent and the small window of opportunity for emergency treatment. Research what happens in a hospital operating room and the personnel who initiate treatment. Use these facts to bring added realism to your stories and novels.
10 B.S. Medical Tropes that Need to Die TODAY…and What to Do Instead: Written by a paramedic and writer with a decade of experience, 10 BS Medical Tropes covers exactly that: clichéd and inaccurate tropes that not only ruin books, they have the potential to hurt real people in the real world.
Maim Your Characters: How Injuries Work in Fiction: Increase Realism. Raise the Stakes. Tell Better Stories. Maim Your Characters is the definitive guide to using wounds and injuries to their greatest effect in your story. Learn not only the six critical parts of an injury plot, but more importantly, how to make sure that the injury you’re inflicting matters.
Blood on the Page: This handy resource is a must-have guide for writers whose characters live on the edge of danger. If you like easy-to-follow tools, expert opinions from someone with firsthand knowledge, and you don’t mind a bit of fictional bodily harm, then you’ll love Samantha Keel’s invaluable handbook

I haven't seen anyone else talk about this yet so I'm going to assume no one has (and if this is the millionth post about this I am so sorry), but apparently there was a leak at Viacom last month, and one of the things that got leaked was the original Danny Phantom pitch bible, and let me tell y'all, there is some interesting lore to be had. I've taken the liberty of summing up a few notable points, but feel free to read for yourself - it's pretty short.
Jack was originally written as an ex-spy, test pilot... basically if it was a daring job, he probably had it. His IQ was supposedly only one point off from Maddie's, and his bumbling was more of a result of him being more "brave than smart."
Maddie was originally written as "one of the world's most respected theoretical physicists" and the brains between her and Jack. Get this: her full name was supposed to be Madison!
Sam and Danny's psychic connection was actually a result of the accident. When he was in the hospital and still very much saturated with ectoplasm, she gave him a "get better" kiss on the forehead, which sparked the connection. The connection would've manifested in a number of ways, including a perpetual ability to "sense" the other, see visions, and hear each other's thoughts, though it was supposed to be somewhat unpredictable.
Jazz hid her brains from her cheerleader friends because she wanted to fit in with them.
Danny was supposed to be the only person able to see, hear, and interact with ghosts.
On the subject of Danny, his reputation for being a scaredy-cat was much more well-known, even to the point where Sam and Tucker gave him the nickname Danny Phantom before he even had his accident. This kid was scared of his own shadow, frogs, you name it.
Overshadowing was originally called "ghosting," and the more intelligent a person, the more difficult it would be to control them.
Jack and Maddie were hoping to break the barrier between the "Real World" (our world) and the "Unreal World" (the ghost world). They wanted to get through to the spirit realm to be able to communicate with the dead in order to help make the world a better place (think picking Einstein's brain a little more, seeing what other music Mozart has cooking, etc.). That dimensional barrier was damaged when they first tried out their experiment, and Danny - who was hiding out from Dash in the lab - would be caught in the middle.
Much like how fans have interpreted things and how the show tried to imply, Danny felt responsible for unleashing the ghosts into our world and decided to adopt the name Sam and Tucker had teased him with to help put a stop to their reign of terror.
Seriously, y'all should read this. There's a lot of interesting info in here, and really it sounds like such a cool concept?? Like I'll probably add my personal thoughts in a reblog, but there's a lot of potential for untapped creativity from the phandom here. Plus it's always nice to see what's technically official content almost 20 years after the show's premiere.

After an obscene amount of ordering, getting that ordere cancelled, ordering again, getting that package delivered to the wrong city, arguing with FedEx, arguing with Target, ordering AGAIN, and having a four week delay -
I finally got Danny Phantom A Glitch in Time!!
I’m not the best at reviewing things, but my most important thoughts are below the cut:
- I love when Danny discovers Dan (called Phantom, but he’s Dan) is loose, you can see the distress on his face in every panel. He’s not smiling, he’s pulling into himself, the stress lines are literally on his face.
- Vlad! Vlad! Vlad!
- Jazz’s magical girl transformation *chef’s kiss*
- Vlad is an unapologetic bitch, and he completely owns it.
- Dan’s design while he has Clockwork absorbed is FIRE! I love it!!
- Can I just say that I adore how much Danny CARES about everyone? He offers to help Dan, to give him a home, before they fight. He wants to give Dan a place to belong.
- Vlad’s redemption felt so natural and so right. He’s been through so much, he’s done everything in his power to get what he wants. And now he knows that, yeah, that’s not how it works. (But he has a child now, so I’m stoked for that arc) (Will Dani come back for the next issue? What will she think of Dan? I NEED sibling rivalry with those two)
- The Disasteroid is both canon and not canon now. Time travel fuckery for the win!
Was the months of fighting with various customer services worth it? 10000000% yes
Do I hope the next issue gets an in store release to I can just go grab one at Barnes & Noble? Please, god.

I have a lot of these saved actually, because I like them so much

This one is a gif but you get what I mean:

They all have really congruent color palettes, which is just so pleasing to me. They’re pretty good at building mood while also maintaining a togetherness that doesn’t pull attention away from the people in the scene. It works so well that sometimes, you just don’t pay attention to the backgrounds - which means they’re doing their job, sure, but they deserve some recognition too, imo.
Anyway, I leave you with this:
