Lunadora Logo • Summer 2018
Yesterday I quit my job. Immediately. Some wonderful consultations with important people in my life followed through the day. I can’t help but be impressed with and grateful for the kindness my company and my colleagues showed me at this junction. They let me leave with some dignity and wished me the best. I want to return that gesture by living my best life.
I’m hearing a call to bring Lunadora out of her hibernation. There are a few things I need to accomplish first, but coming out of my own period of deeper, darker emotional work and processing my capabilities with my needs, now is the time to get focused.
Lunadora is a small seed with a lot of potential. There are many connections I’ve made over the summer that I need to foster. I need to honor the strides I’ve made outside of the Los Angeles cultural grinder. Where I live is asking for these artistic experiences to be nurtured and shared. Art can be a community garden too, it just takes the first hand in the dirt to make it happen.

Pirouette
Don’t let me look into your eyes,
Or I’ll fall into this dance again.
A filtered gender magnified by spotlight,
in unhappy curls and misaligned gestures.
Pink and blue are never neutral colors.
But I wear a pink with coffee and grease stains,
And I wear a blue that shines with stardust.

From old times.
To They who gather a bouquet of clouds
With all my might I would lend to your force
that courses through your long arms
so they would straddle my ribs and capture my body.
Put the world away. I don’t care where.
Nothing means more than finishing this,
than to fasten this band.
Uncover the dream, wild and wrapped
in a thinning veil, before these grow
deep and untouchable.
Reverse me. Drag me back.
I don’t want to steal you but
I can’t help having
the soul of a thief.
