I feel like if maul was in the jedi order instead he would def still be super showy and extra with his fighting style. and he,, would still highkey dislike obi wan. but he's 100% loyal to all his allies and super nice to his clones!

i think the old quotes about george wanting maul and talon to be friends is just... weirdly well known?

also people want maul to have a real friend... and i think we all kinda know he could only ever be "friends" with someone as dangerous and cracked as he is. a jedi padawan rescue is not uhhh... in that category, really.

i hope she isn't talon, because that deletes talon's entire history with darth krayt and cade skywalker, and that would be a shame. i won't be mad if she is talon though, just... i don't think she is.

see, lucas' story telling style has one true love, and that love is framing. whether it's history repeating, character foils, trauma imprinting trauma, or fascism looking deceptively attractive, star wars directors have always taken framing and parallels and run with them.

so now we've got a (pink? red?) twi'lek appearing in maul's life, and you KNOW however he relates to her is going to reflect the twi'lek/people in his past and probably also his struggle to change because of the dark side (and unholy amounts of sidious induced trauma).

we also know maul ends up alone again in rebels, so however it goes, it's not going to end well. but i'm sure it'll be worth the journey.

currently i'm wondering... is she a foil for eldra kaitis? he was so depressed after killing eldra, could this be maul trying to escape his past actions by not killing this new, energetic twi'lek with force potential, like he did the last one? the scene in the trailer shows maul: lockdown-esc prison energy, and he got ahold of eldra by busting her out of a prisoner situation where she was being auctioned. so... i'm really wondering if we're going to see a hint of legends content reborn into canon.

the other options for their relationship frame work include kilindi or daleen... but my current bet is on eldra.
