Good Luck Kiss

Pairing: Astralyn (Astra Yao x Evelyn Chevalier) Word count: 1.1k Warnings: none Summary: Astra does a good job of being persistent, which, unfortunately for Evelyn, is her biggest weakness. Author's note: This took longer than I expected to finish. I was supposed to finish writing this within a week but college is a handful atm. Btw this fic is based on the prompt listed for March 9 from @tokkiheart's 2025 Year of Fluff. Crossposted to ao3.

Evelyn's heels clicked along the floor as she walked to Astra's dressing room. Before knocking on the door, she heard the singer humming a tune to one of her songs.

Evelyn lightly knocked on the door and notified of her presence. “Miss Yao, it's me.”

Once she heard Astra grant her permission to come in, Evelyn opened the door and closed it behind her.

“You need to report backstage in 10 minutes, Miss Yao,” Evelyn says once the door is shut.

Astra was sitting at the makeup vanity, wearing a particular outfit for the concert's opening act. She turned her attention away from the mirror and threw a grin at her bodyguard.

“Eve, you're here!”

Astra stood up from the makeup vanity to greet her. She hugged her tightly, which earned a surprised yelp from Evelyn. Astra giggled at Evelyn's reaction when she withdrew from the hug.

“Mind warning me next time about hugging me beforehand?” Evelyn asked.

“I'm just glad to see you!” Astra beamed at her bodyguard while cradling her face.

Evelyn shook her head, but a warm smile graced her face.

“Oh, I almost forgot. What do you think of my outfit?” Astra takes a step back from Evelyn and twirls in front of her.

Evelyn carefully analyzed Astra's outfit. The latter wore a red satin dress that had a thigh slit with black satin underneath. Attached to the back of her dress was a white ruffled train adorned with gold. The outfit was completed with white poofy sleeves, a red fingerless glove, gold jewelry, and a large white daffodil hairpiece. The ensemble was truly exquisite.

Evelyn takes a step closer to the singer. She smooths out any wrinkles from her outfit. “Beautiful as always. No one else can pull off an outfit like that.”

Astra cracked another smile in response. “Praise from you is unmatched, Eve.”

Once she was done smoothing out any wrinkles, Evelyn turned her gaze back on Astra. Upon closer look, she noticed something was off with her face.

“Your makeup seems to be smudged.” She pointed at Astra's cheek.

“Oh, really?” Astra held her face in shock. Could you help me fix it?”

“Are you sure?” Astra's proposal wasn't convincing Evelyn. “I'm not as well-versed in makeup compared to you. Plus, it'll be quicker if you handle it.”

“Don't be silly! I trust you.” Astra places a hand on Evelyn's shoulder for reassurance. “After all, there's nothing you can't do.”

Astra didn't wait for Evelyn to respond as she rummaged for the needed makeup tools at the vanity. Once she found them, she handed them to Evelyn and sat down near the vanity, waiting for her. No matter what shenanigans Astra pulled off, Evelyn couldn't say no to her, no matter how hard she tried.

She pulled up a chair and sat down across from her. Once she was comfortable, she got to work quickly. She applied a new layer of concealer to Astra's cheeks and blended it in.

With the close proximity, Evelyn felt her heart rate speed up a little. The more she stayed close to Astra like this, the more her heart hammered inside of her chest. It also didn't help that Astra stared intently at her the whole time, watching her every move. She did her best to ignore her stares, concentrating only on fixing her makeup. Eventually, Evelyn applied the finishing touches. Once she was done, she double-checked to make sure she didn't miss a spot.

“Okay, you can take a look now. Let me know if it looks okay.”

Astra glanced at the mirror and smiled. “You did a fantastic job, Eve. You're ever so reliable.”

Evelyn was relieved she didn't mess up the task. She was about to say something until her intercom sparked to life, interrupting her.

She pressed her finger on the intercom for a moment before returning her attention to Astra. “Well, it looks like you need to go soon.”

“Aww, already? But there's one more favor I need to ask from you.”

Evelyn threw an unamused expression at Astra as a sort of warning. But that didn't stop Astra's persistence.

“Pretty please with a cherry on top? It'll be quick, I promise.” Astra clasped her hands together while batting her eyes at Evelyn in a pleading manner.

In response, Evelyn put a finger to her temple and closed her eyes, letting out a sigh. “Fine, it better be quick.”

“Yayyy!” Astra lit up with glee at Evelyn's sign of approval. Eventually, she calmed down a little before making her request. “Can you give me a good luck kiss?”

“Miss Yao-” Evelyn was taken aback by Astra's request. She coughed a little, clearing her throat. How bold of her to request such a thing. “I don't think that's very professional of me to do.”

“You promised me, so you can't back out now.” Astra pointed a finger at Evelyn. “And only you can do this for me.”

Evelyn let out a soft sigh, admitting defeat. “Okay, fine. Let's get this over with.”

Astra never specified where she should kiss her, so a kiss on the cheek should suffice. Evelyn leaned closer to Astra, about to plant a kiss on her cheek. But Astra turned her head in a split second, and Evelyn's lips landed on Astra's. She stood there frozen in shock as she was registering the feeling of Astra's lips on hers. However, Evelyn didn't get to savor the kiss for long since Astra pulled away too soon. Evelyn touched her lips in astonishment, still processing what had just happened. It had happened all too fast.

Astra had a cheeky smile on her face. Evelyn wondered if she had planned this all along.

“Thanks for the kiss, Eve. I'm all fired up for my performance now!”

Suddenly, urgent knocks echoed at the door, breaking the tension between the duo. “Miss Yao, you need to report backstage immediately!”

“Oh, would you look at that? Looks like we have to head backstage now!” Astra quickly went to grab Hemiola, which was standing near the makeup vanity.

“R-right…” Evelyn quickly stood up from her seat and was about to make a beeline toward the door. But Astra stopped her from moving any further.

“Looks like you're forgetting something.” She points at Evelyn's lips and hands her a tissue.

“You don't want the others to see you all like that, right?” Astra winked at her.

Evelyn accepted the tissue and tore her eyes away from Astra to look at the vanity mirror. While wiping off the lipstick, she had only hoped her flushed cheeks went unnoticed by the singer. The whole situation rendered Evelyn speechless.

After the concert, she needed to confront the singer for an explanation. The events that had transpired still puzzled Evelyn. However, there was one thing she was certain about. Astra was going to be the death of her.

2025 Year of Fluff

I got inspired to make this after a friend shared with me the 2023 Year of Whump made by @soheavyaburden and I wanted to make something like it, but for individuals like me who prefer fluff and can’t (for one reason or another) do a month long challenge. I’ve had this sitting in drafts for 2 years and I’m finally going to publish it this year.

This is my first time ever doing something like this, but I did my best to have a nice mix of prompts that can work for romantic fluff, platonic fluff, family fluff, etc. so that no matter what kind of fluff you want to do, there’s prompts for you!

I also themed some weeks around big holidays for those who celebrate them while keeping the prompts vague or open to interpretation and aren’t really holiday specific. For example, the week of Easter there’s “scavenger hunt” and the week of Christmas there’s “gift exchange” and “home for the holidays.”

For any prompts where there’s an “X” in it, just substitute the X out for whatever word you want that fits in the context of the prompt. Any prompts marked with “(any)” really means any interpretation of the word/prompt. For example: “Game Day (any)” can be anything from actual sports to video games, board games, card games, RPGs, etc.

You can choose to do this event monthly, weekly, or wild card and change up which you do! Wild Card is basically doing whatever prompt strikes your fancy from any month/week!

This is completely at your leisure! No stress, no pressure, just fun and fluff! Feel free to mix & match prompts or pair with other challenges to your heart’s desire (the only exception is whump, hurt/comfort is fine but there needs to be comfort).

This is open to all fandoms, relationships, forms of media creation (except AI), etc.!
