Cole hears Nimue's thoughts almost all the time. It's something Nim tries to quiet and avoid because she doesn't want him burdened by her mind. It's harder for her to find the good emotions when it's anything about herself. This and how Cole speaks and acts are reasons Nimue grows close to him. He's like her, in a way, and that gives her comfort.

Ship, and I have thoughts! I've never gotten the chance to write it, but I do headcanon that there was something between them before her head injury and tadpole. Afterward, she still feels a pull or connection, like she knows him even though she can't remember anything. Nimue wants to save him, to give him a chance to change, like she did, and get away from Bane. But, unlike her, he chose Bane, she was just born to Bhaal. Killing him is very hard for her.

Nimue has constant nightmares about the future she was sent into in Redcliffe, made all the worse by the fact that the Leliana there refused to say what had happened to the world and to people. She thinks about how many of her allies were killed and mined for red lyrium, what demons did, what people had suffered. Leliana had said 'nothing happened that you want to hear', but it's the not knowing that causes the nightmares. It's Nimue's already dark and violent mind filling the emptiness with horror.
