Hi! I didn't know where to contact you guys so I'm trying here: I received the half way check up but due to a really big, really bad thing happening in my real life I've been unable to work on my parts for the mini bang and big bang, so I don't have anything to turn in. I can get my work done before the posting date, so if possible I'd like to remain in the challenge, but I understand if I need to be removed. I have already communicated this with my partners.

Team Matchups

Please get in contact with your partner and discuss the fic/art you will be creating for this challenge. If you have not gotten a reply from your partner by April 1, please reach out to us and we will try to put you in contact. If we are unable to establish contact between team members in a timely manner, then teammates may be reassigned. 

If you must drop out for any reason, please communicate your situation as best you can; there will be no penalty for dropping out, and we would prefer to know rather than having to hunt participants down. Ghosting your partner or the challenge may result in teammates being reassigned.

A second round of claims has opened up, and now those who haven't yet chosen a fic, those who wish to claim a second fic, and those who wish to pinch hit may claim a fic from the remaining list. The sorting for this round will again not be first come first serve (but your prompt responses enable team matchups to happen more quickly!)

I'm a little confused by what you mean by the posting date. I'm not worried about having my work complete by August 4th, but does every author/artist pair get assigned/claim a different date after that to post their work, or do we all just post at once on the 4th??

No, each day will only have 1-2 teams posting from the 4th onward. Depending on how many teams we still have participating in the event as we get closer to August, that will determine how many teams post per day/for how long the posting period lasts. Teams will claim a posting date a few months from now.

Hi, thanks for organizing such a cool event!

Can you please explain how claims are gonna work? Like, what's the process? Do artists mark the works they are interested in and then, after collecting all the answers, you match everybody up? Or is it more like a first-come-first-served type of situation? Do artists have to be online at the stated time on March 22? Should I do anything if there is a cople of tags I'm not really comfortable working with, but it occurred to me only when I'd already submitted the form?

I'll be posting a more in-depth explanation of how claims work when the gallery is released for artists to peruse, but here's a brief explanation that was given in the Discord server:

It’s not quite first come first served—I’ll have artists list their top 3-5 picks (depending on how many people we have sign up). If three people claim fic A, then I’ll look at their second choices. If person 1’s second choice isn’t chosen yet, but person 2’s second choice is someone else’s first pick, then I’ll be inclined to give Fic A to person 2, since that’ll shake things up the least.

In the past when I’ve run an event like this I don’t think I’ve ever given anyone lower than their third choice (out of 5), and that was because we had a pretty limited pool.

Regarding tags you're uncomfortable with, I urge artists to carefully read the fic information in the gallery and make a measured decision before submitting their claims preferences. If something tagged is an absolute hard no for you, then I would not recommend choosing that fic if it will impact your ability to create art.

Artists are of course the ones who choose what they create and what will be featured in it--if you wanted to illustrate a scene completely unrelated to the concept that squicks you out, that would be completely allowed and encouraged!

If you somehow completely missed a tag that will impact your ability to create art, and teams haven't been assigned yet, then please reach out with your updated claims choices and I'll take them into account when assigning teams. If teams have already been assigned, and you were unable to discuss it and work it out with your teammate, then please reach out and I'll see about either seeking out other teams who volunteer to swap with you, or finding pinch hitters for you and your teammate.
