I like how when we were introduced to Raven it became a bit of a joke that she was the worst mum in the series, and now she's like, not even on the podium.
And not even because of the V9 Epilogue, she got defaulted off bronze before V9 even dropped, she didn't have to do anything but now she is doing something and it's even better.
But behind Nora's unseen mother, who also abandoned her kid but did it on the streets of a random town instead of with her ex, her brother, and her other ex, you can pry Poly STRQ from my old dead handsfriend, Salem, who killed all four of her kids and has spent the intervening time blaming Oz for it and manipulating every other kid she stumbles across, and Cinder's stepmother, who... jesus fucking christ, just wow, Raven has now achieved the level of "Not as terrible as you could've been I guess" before she even tried to be better.
Now if we could just see her trying to be better... Cam on Mysterious Potential Partner, buy sum fackin RWBY.

I know I personally have a much harder time leaving comments on FFN as opposed to AO3. I believe it is because FFN labels them as reviews so even when I do comment on FFN I feel the need for it to be a more critical and general after the story has completed or ended an arch.
Thanks for the insight, I appreciate it! It's interesting what a difference it makes between calling it a review and a comment. I wonder if these FFN reviewers of The Baby Plot feel the same way, that it being a review means it needs some criticism.
Personally I feel uncomfortable leaving criticism when I comment or review fic I read, unless the author has asked for it, and even then I feel the need to make it concrit.

Another thing I've observed: comments on FFN are far more likely than on AO3 to get into what the reader dislikes.
With The Baby Plot that has meant having FFN readers mention:
they prefer Blake being the pregnant one. Fair enough, but uh... I'm not about to rewrite my fic.
another doesn't like it when Blake promises not to leave Yang. Again, fair enough, but. Uhh. Blake swears not to break that promise to Yang in Volume 6. It's canon. The Baby Plot is canon compliant, as far as it can be when it's set a few years in the Bees' future.
So I guess what I'd like to say here is that I really appreciate my AO3 commenters. I should reply to more of those...
I was already on the fence about posting any of my future fics to FFN. Comments are very rare there, which does get discouraging. Sure, I'm not entitled to comments, but I'm also not obligated to share my fics there either. It's not exactly user friendly, especially compared to AO3.
I've decided I'll finish posting my current WIP to FFN, and after that I'll just post to AO3.
The deciding factor was a nasty comment. I know they can still happen on AO3, no thanks to bots, but in my experience they're rarer.
Tumblr media
I just... Why? Why bother commenting to say that?
The comments I've had on AO3 for The Baby Plot have been lovely. Even more so in comparison to the pictured one on FFN.

You suddenly switch bodies with your icon. On a scale of 1 to 10, (10 being the highest value) how well are you coping with that change?

so beyond happy that their story gets to continue, that bumbleby will be breaking the cancelled sapphics curse and that we’ll be able to see them again as an established couple 🖤💛

I've been thinking about Tai's advice to Yang in Volume 4 about how she uses her Semblance.
Tumblr media
I very much get the impression that what he knows about Burn is limited by what he's witnessed, and he doesn't actually know everything about how she uses it.
If Yang relied on her Semblance as much as Tai thinks she does, going by most of her broadcast fights in the Vytal tournament and whatever he's seen while training her... Surely Blake would have known how Burn works before Volume 2?
Tumblr media
There's no way every classroom duel could have been on screen in the RWBY volumes at Beacon, or every training session. And I doubt Blake had her nose in a book every time Yang fought or trained, so the fact Blake didn't know what Yang's Semblance did for quite some time? That must mean Yang didn't use Burn to finish every fight.

I love that part of Justice League x RWBY, with Yang stopping that punch and then hitting back hard enough to send Wonder Woman through a couple of trees.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But it took place inside some sort of computer simulation with the whole hologram trap thing - team RWBY had their usual powers rather than the variants they had on Earth, so chances were it was Yang's normal strength rather than how it might scale up on a different world to her own. Well, normal except she was using her Semblance and sending Wonder Woman's own strength back at her. Doubled.
...It feels weird to type 'normal' in connection with Yang's strength, and even weirder when it's about Burn.
I'm just gonna take it as indisputable canon now that Yang Xiao Long can stop a punch from THE Wonder Woman solely because I think certain people would be very annoyed by that and I take my fun where I can get it.

i wish i was a vacuum cleaner so i could suck up all the crumbs in the world and have them to myself
That would be an interesting Semblance. Also useful, tidying up the crumbs.

Proposed idea for a cute lesbian Throuple crack ship. Winter/Summer/Raven. Season’s greetings.
Season's Greetings being the ship name? Either that or something like Rosebird in Winter I guess.
I can't help thinking that adding Cinder into the mix would make it even more crack-ish. What would that be called, Four Seasons?
I don't think I'll be writing either, the Bees have me trapped in the hive send help but it's certainly a fun thought. Thanks for the ask!

yo since apparently crwby teased rwby getting a new home and keeping the same creative team. a positive thought finally occurred to me. animation takes a long time we know it, but if RT is not in charge of it (with all its financial and crunching struggles) we might actually not only still get V10 but also get it sooner than expected??? i mean rwby production has been historically slow expecially in the last few seasons due to RT's financial and work situation so RT not being involved anymore might speed up production time a little bit? Hope's the last to die 😩
