The Similarities and Differences of Doodle Fiction, Manga, and Graphic Novel

Doodle Fiction

Doodle Fiction is newer compared to Manga and Graphic Novel, the one who popularized this format is Jeff Kinney who created the "DIARY of a Wimpy Kid" series.

Like what Jeff Kinney wrote on the cover, it really is like a novel in cartoons.

Styled to look like handwritten text with hand drawn images, adds humor and uniqueness to the story.

Unlike Manga and Graphic Novels, Doodle Fiction has more texts and it is also closer to prose fiction than comics in terms of format.

Manga

Manga are Japanese comics, it is image oriented unlike Doodle Fiction, and Manga are usually published in black and white.

A fun fact about Manga is that, they are read from right to left, compared to Western Comics that you can read from left to right.

Manga is usually made into Animated Movies (Japanese cartoons), or what we know as Anime. Or sometimes made into Live Action Films.

Graphic Novel

Graphic Novel are long comic books, like how long Novels are to short stories. It typically has 40 pages in length, and usually a self-contained narrative.

Compared to Doodle Fiction and Manga, Graphic Novels are published in single issues but can be collected into a single publication.

Like Manga, Graphic Novels are either turned into cartoons or Live Action Films like the popular MCU and DCEU movies that is classified as Science Fiction and Action.

To sum it all up, I titled this blog "Illustrative Narratives" because their main similarity is that the three of them uses a combination of images amd texts to tell a story.

But don’t you ever think about Anakin treating Padme with respect? Their love story doesn’t go like so many cliche love stories: with “I know you love me” or the endless persuasion or implying that one person loves the other. Anakin always had so much respect for her, the moment she refused to kiss him, he stopped trying to. He did talk about it and confessed his feelings and asked her for advice, admitting that she is wiser than him (which is often so hard for men to do), but he never touched her until she kissed him herself. He truly loved her, overwhelmingly, without pride, more than himself. Eventually that led to their tragic end, but people who say that anidala is divorce material really didn’t see how much those two loved, respected and admired each other. Anakin was doomed almost from the beginning, and that’s the tragedy, but their relationship was a lot healthier than many movie couples’ ones.

Her character was meant to be funny and pathetic, she was surely annoying but actually her story it’s very sad. I mean, she was bullied, she was crying alone in the bathroom and then she was killed (13 years old). So here’s a different image of her

So on the quiet nights, the really bad nights when nothing's happening and there's nothing to do, Duncan and Mrytle (who normally despise each other) put their differences aside and hang out together. They don't talk because there's nothing to talk about. Instead, they act out their fav movies or books . Myrtle saw the 1925 Phantom of the Opera movie and thought it was SOOO romantic. Duncan wants to do the first star wars movie next time. It's weird little tradition, but it's all they have left.

If English is your second language and you heavily write and post in it, here's some tips to help your proofreading and editing process that I personally wanted to know when I started:

Use more than one revising/editing service for the same document

For example, let's say you wrote something on Word - Word can find X mistakes, Grammarly can find Y, and Prowriting Aid can find Z

Tho you still need to know enough of grammar to identify when the suggestions from the services are false alarms

And as precaution, when you deem necessary, include text readers in at least one of your editing rounds; listening to a robotic voice go over your document can help you identify odd wording and mistakes that escaped both technology and your eyes

+ even if you're not actively aware of it, regularly reading and writing in English is a practice that is always expanding your brain's understanding of how the language tends to need to be organized to be understood

These things do not override the need of an actual editor and other real people feedback depending on what you're doing, but if all you have is you and the internet, these still help a lot.

I washed myself, ate a good breakfast, wore an outfit I feel the best in, did a bad bitch make up, then went out.

It feels powerful walking with my heels and it clicking on the ground, it's like being a CEO.

People stare at me.. in awe, and I like it. I don't mind the attention, wait no— I WANT the attention; because I love it when people notice the effort and hard work I put in my body and appearance.

Hating people says I'm obsessed with attention, like.. is that a problem? They also told me I'm being delusional, let me be delusional; I'm not hurting anyone, am I?

People that look at me badly, is just jealous of me. They're jealous that I'm more confident, that I shine, that I'm luxurious. Mind yourselves, insecure bitches.

I reached my destination, it's a gathering with people within my age group. Either strangers I'll meet for the first time, or people I barely know.

Will there be other bad bitches in here that I might befriend? Or will I experience being a main character? Either way, I'll remain the best, just look at my mindset.

It turns out this is just the lobby, but I already saw another like me. Pretty woman, decent.. style, will she have an equally pretty personality?

She looked at me blankly.

"Hey? Do I know you?"

"Oh no— are you also coming to the party?"

"Yeah? But do I know you?"

"No, but I'm here to know people, you gained my attention 'cause we might have the same interests."

"Okay..? Sorry, but I'm here to look for men."

Men? "I'm sorry— what?" Men are overrated.

"You heard me right, now do you mind? Get out of my way, you look like a natural whore. I had to look hard for men-attracting clothes because the ones in my closet are modest."

"Bitch?" She walked away.

That's an ugly mother fucker, I take back that compliment I gave her. Now I understand why she's dressed blandly, the brand logos look tacky, hair smells like a bathroom freshener.

Then I saw another one, this one just entered. Sis looks like the BADDEST BITCH. So much greater style, make up looks stunning, and she smells good. She sat next to me, and pulled out her phone.

"Hey."

"Oh hey! Are you talkin' to me?"

"I— Yeah!" Damn, she radiates approachable energy. "Are you here for the party?"

"Bitch yes! I got my nails done and everything! You too?"

"Yes! I'm actually looking for people that looks like we share the same interests."

"Then you're looking at her. By the way, you look gorgeous."

This woman was so much better than the previous one, her name is Chantelle. We gave our socials to each other before she went to the ball room where the party was held.

A few minutes later, I was ready to go in. I checked myself first then went in. I entered from the main door, everyone was staring at me. They looked mesmerized, I'm a little nervous. I walked towards them in the middle, but they dodged and kept looking.. behind.. my.. back.. They're not looking at me? I looked back and saw the most beautiful girl I saw, she's not a bad bitch, she's not hot, she's not dark and dangerous; she's beautiful, ethereal, and heavenly, and her name's Cara.

She might be what I described her to be, but her energy as she strutted changed. She looked confident and far from humble, but I can't judge.

She walked past me, but stopped. "You need a little humbling, haughty bitch." She chuckled then continued walking.

What the hell?

I liked her, no— I LOVED HER for a second, then she did that. She said that, words typically don't affect me much; but coming from that girl, it hurts.. I now hate her.. despise her.. envy her.

I suddenly hate myself, hated my style, my personality, my mindset, my life. I'm now sick of myself.

"Hey bitchhh," Chantelle came back. "It took me FOREVER to find you, where have you been?"

I smiled and looked at her, "just chilling."

"Is there something wrong? You look different from before."

"There's nothing wrong."

"Is it the Cara girl?"

I looked at her in pure shock, "how did you know?"

"Gurl, everyone was talking about it."

"Wait, what?"

"Everyone's saying how that girl was so arrogant, belittling everyone, and trying to humble confident people. I just met you earlier, but judging by the way you move, I just know you're a confident bitch and that's what I liked about you. But now you're the opposite, it's gotta be Cara."

"It is.."

"Then get that girl and whatever she just said out of your mind, let's go drink and bring back your inner baddie."

"But the drinks are expensive here."

"My treat."

"There ain't no way you're going to treat someone you just met."

"Don't worry! You clearly don't know my job."

"I don't want to guess, what's your job?"

"I'm a professional marble sculptress, like I graduated art school, visual arts and shi, but we all know those kind of bitches don't get the money they deserve."

"So what high-paying job do you have besides that?"

"I'm an accountant."

"For real?"

"No, bitch. I'm a stripper."

"I was guessing that, but you look like you can really be an accountant."

"Don't make me laugh.. wait, you're not kidding?"

"Yes."

"Okay, now let's gooo."

"So where did you graduated?" I asked.

"A university with a fine arts institute, went to art school in the summer. We got broke because of it, but at least they believed in me and my dream. I got a degree in visual arts and started a career in sculpting, any medium 'cause I'm undecided yet."

"So how did you found out you're into marble sculpting?"

"Nothing special happened, I'm just trying all types of sculpting, then marble just clicked on me."

"Yeah, but why did you decided to be a stripper? Marble sculpting is a high-paying job, isn't it?"

"Yeah, if you're a master. I started looking for jobs when we remained broke after I accomplished my dreams, I was still a beginner so nobody really wanted me. Then I heard people talking about earning stacks in stripping, so I tried, I was a good dancer anyway."

"Wow, you're so talented."

"Thanks. I enjoyed being a stripper because our job isn't really connected to sex like I thought before."

"Hm."

"While being a stripper, I still continued my sculptor self. So I became professional sculptress on the way, never leaving the job of being a stripper 'cause like I said, I enjoy it."

"So now you're rich RICH?"

"Well, you can say that.. many people couldn't believe I'm a marble sculptress, moreover a professional."

"Judgemental people in the wrong ways these days."

"Yeah.. so how about yours?"

"I'm an Aircraft Pilot."

"Damnn, so you're material gworl?"

I laughed, "you're acting like you're not."

"But you are, right?"

"It's a high-paying job, and it means I graduated and got my shit. But I'm the one paying for some of my nieces, nephews, and younger siblings' education."

"Why?"

"Because we're not the type to afford necessities."

"Oh.."

"I think I'm the only sex educated member in our family. All of them are producing babies they can't afford, doing it non-stop until we're bigger than the population of the Vatican city."

"You had to insert that joke, huh?"

"Of course. So yeah, my godmother and her rich family supported us, most importantly me. She believed I can be what I wanted to be, so that's why I became a pilot."

"So inspirational." Chantelle looked at me seriously.

The drinking continued, I completely forgot about Cara and what she did to me. I did not became the main character, but I definitely had a new friend, Chantelle.

WIZARDING SCHOOLS AROUND THE WORLD: PHILIPPINES

The Philippine Institute For Magical Studies is the premier Philippine school of magic. Unlike its counterparts, the magical practices in the Philippines is rather unique. Here students are taught weather manipulation, spellcasting, kulam a voodoo type magic and elemental magic. The school is located in a unplotable island hidden by a magical enchantment. Students were made to wear white linen clothing with color accents to distinguish year levels instead of wearing robes like those in Hogwarts since the weather is tropical. Wands are commonly made of bamboo or reed. Prized ones are made of acacia, ironwood, mahogany, and ivory. Wand cores may range from sea nymph’s hair, a dried petal of afloreldina (a rare flower that blooms in the ocean’s abyss), a mountain guradian’s mane, or a feather from a kuruko (a ligthing bird).
