And maybe someone should have warned him he was homophobic before him and his wife added queer representation into their SPN prequel series.

I have been reading some short fics the past day or so trying to ease myself back into it and I have realized that no matter how they're described, if I'm reading an AU where Dean and Cas are younger, this is how I'm picturing them. I can't help it. This is just the default young Destiel in my mind.

"Jensen hates bi Dean" maybe he didn't like it over a decade ago and was defensive because he was caught up in his own interpretation of the character and the fact that he didn't "play him that way" or whatever, but this was Jensen like, what? A year or two ago? That face screams "yeah true" and "I can't argue with that" and I love it!

I think it's clear that ever since the end of the show, maybe even a few years before, he's come around to the idea. He has shown a lot more support for bi Dean in recent years. And hell, I even think that by S12 at least, he was intentionally playing Dean that way. But certain people want to ignore his growth when it comes to bi Dean just because they want to make him seem like a bigot or because they are simply bigots themselves who want Jensen to be like them.

People need to stop with the narrative that Jensen is homophobic/biphobic and that he would be uncomfortable playing queer characters. He literally played a bi man BEFORE Supernatural and he called out a line about Soldier Boy having sex with a dude as what drew him to the role and made him want to take it. He was fully prepared to play Soldier Boy as queer (before they changed it and made Soldier Boy homophobic, which was an odd choice, but that is for another day).

I guess what I'm trying to say is stop bringing up stuff he said about bi Dean from a decade ago to try and prove that he still dislikes it or that he would be uncomfortable playing a bisexual. I think it's obvious he's totally okay with it now and he has no issues with playing queer characters! Leave him be!

I would like to get back into reading Destiel fanfiction but I'm usually picky when it comes fics. Really picky. I'm okay with them not being "in character" when it's an AU. But if I'm reading a canon compliant fic and they're even slightly out of character? It takes me out of the fic so bad. I can't finish it 😭
