Tommy caring for Buck and showing (in my opinion) dominant tendencies isn’t the same as infantilizing him. Staying the night, wanting him to get some rest, and cooking him breakfast the next morning isn’t infantilizing him, it’s him showing concern and taking care of his boyfriend. Simple as that.
Yes, he was weirded out by the boils and the curse at first, but he was never repulsed by Buck’s appearance, which Buck feared was the case, and he still indulged in Bucks belief of the curse despite himself not believing before.
Hate him for your ship not going anywhere all you want, but stop projecting and learn to cope properly.

I still can't believe that BoB's care more about spreading hate instead of celebrating one of the rarest and most incredible wins ever for LGBT media representation. That includes how important and rare it is to see a very traditionally hetero male best friend be instantly supportive and encouraging.
How self-centered do you have to be to make this moment all about you?
p.s. don't try the "Tommy is bad queer rep" argument because we all know that just means you're a dumbass incapable of critical thought. To have an adult gay man who lived through DADT and didn't come out until later in life IS important queer rep.

bucktommy’s first kiss is truly really one of the best first kisses in tv. like it’ll go down in history (for me) not just because of bisexual buck, but because of the entire scene in and of itself. it’s so perfect. i wouldn’t change a thing.

I have eaten 1 yoghurt and 3 spoonfuls of rice pudding in the last 194 hours. I don’t feel hunger. I don’t feel anything. I have to eat tomorrow, I had scheduled to eat tomorrow and it will be my only chance before thursday anyway. It makes me feel physically sick thinking of having anything in my body. I hate my body. I wish I was dead. I wish I could be normal. I see people casually eating and i’m simultaneously disgusted by them and jealous.
I can’t remember how to do read mores on mobile. Sorry.

and also, even if tommy never comes back on screen and he and buck break up before the new season begins, even if everything goes exactly how the weirdos want it to go, they can never erase tommy from buck's narrative.
tommy will ALWAYS be buck's bisexual realisation. his first kiss with a man. first date with a man. first boyfriend. maybe even his first sexual experience with a man. first first first first. even if he doesn't come back on screen ever again and no one mentions him ever again as they want, they still can't change that. their ship will never get that and that's ultimately what they're angry about and will continue to be angry about it even if they get what they want, because tommy's presence and relationship with buck has already ruined the fantasy they had in their heads and that in itself is a win for me. as long as bisexual buck exist you can't erase tommy because he's forever written in buck's story because we have bisexual buck thanks to him 🫶

im just noticing that at the end of the harbor station tour buck is like, trying so hard. to keep it going a little longer. tommy asks him is that why you wanted the tour and buck is so obviously running out of reasons to hang around. like. he Saw The Place During The Day and he's Not Interested in becoming a pilot or leaving the 118. so what's left? he's not going to admit The Tour is nothing but an Excuse to hang out with tommy??? and he's scrambling. trying to find ways to connect with tommy. like btw i met an ex attending to a call about a helicopter crash! and i have a friend who was also in the army! uhh what else. beer? guys like beer, right?
what an adorable little nerd. i love him so much.

thinking about buck and tommy’s first kiss and i think the reason that this scene has imprinted on me with such an unshakable force is because of the magnetic emotional and physical development that takes place between buck and tommy throughout the entire sequence; before, during, and after their kiss.
tommy comes over to buck’s (a little nervous) because he’s worried that he caused some bad blood between buck and eddie. he doesn’t have to do this - come over, apologize - because we know he didn’t do anything wrong. but, he does. tommy does this out of an honest desire to make sure buck understands that he could never replace him in eddie (and chris’) lives; and that him and eddie never meant to exclude buck. tommy is sincere and kind in his reassurance, but, he doesn’t shy away from telling buck that eddie can have more than one friend. he’s genuine, but he doesn’t pander. and buck, for his part, immediately takes accountability re: his bad behaviour and is honest in telling tommy that he didn’t do anything wrong/has nothing to apologize for. like tommy, buck doesn’t pander either — he means what he says. there’s a natural flow of honest, intimate communication between them in this moment that’s so captivating to watch.
this natural flow of communication allows any nerves they’re both holding to gradually dissipate and leads buck to explicitly admit that he can sometimes get jealous when he feels left out. and, jealousy isn’t an easy emotion to talk about. it’s especially not easy to talk about with someone you recently met. and so, buck admitting his jealousy to tommy shows us that he trusts tommy enough to bare a fairly vulnerable part of himself to him. and tommy, in response, immediately reassures buck by sharing his own feelings of jealousy. he doesn’t let that moment become a one-sided exchange where buck is the only one between them to have the most vulnerable parts of himself on display. he shares something in return therefore meeting buck halfway in an emotional capacity.
and it’s not calculated — tommy sharing his feelings. it’s not an empty gesture. it’s a very natural and earnest, almost, unconscious — in that, tommy doesn’t even have to think about it — response to the connection they’ve built thus far. and for tommy, there’s the added vulnerability of his jealousy being tied to a yearning for something buck has: a family. but regardless, tommy puts his feelings out in the open because there’s no malicious intent behind what he feels. no hidden agenda. just a raw desire to share a vulnerable part of himself with buck — ultimately showing us that tommy also trusts buck, the way buck trusts him. and buck is so kind in reassuring tommy. there’s a conviction in his tone when he aims to ease tommy’s insecurities — like he needs tommy to believe what he’s saying. it’s a similar conviction and kindness that we hear only moments earlier when tommy reassures buck about his insecurities.
it’s all of this, between them — the vulnerability, the honesty, the kindness, the trust — that makes this scene what it is. buck and tommy start their conversation on opposite sides of the space, behind “barriers”. tommy’s blocked by the table and buck is behind the island — their body language also reading more protective. but, as they build a level of trust with each other through open, honest communication; as they peel back the layers and build a level of vulnerable intimacy; we see them become more relaxed and open, gradually moving from behind the barriers, from across the room — buck leading, tommy following — until they’re face-to-face and only inches apart from each other; their emotional development and physical movements in this scene thus being so deeply intertwined with one another.
and it’s the vulnerability, honesty, kindness, and trust that they’ve cultivated that allows buck and tommy to seamlessly transition from talking to flirting in a way that makes us feel like we’re intruding. it’s also the vulnerability, honesty, kindness, and trust that ultimately allows buck to get to a place where he can realize and admit (out loud) that for him, it’s always been about tommy; and consequently, it’s what gives tommy the confidence to close the physical distance between them by kissing buck, soft and tender. and the scene doesn’t end once they break apart from the kiss. it doesn’t cut away. buck and tommy get to process their first kiss. and we get to see them process it. they get to react. and we get to see them react — which is so important for this moment.
but even more importantly, buck and tommy get to remain in the “post-kiss space” with each other for a short but very important additional few-seconds. these few-seconds show us the continued displays of vulnerability, honesty, kindness, and trust between them. these displays are present in the way tommy asks buck if the kiss was okay, not once, but twice; they’re present in the way tommy continues to flirt with buck - voice low, eyes soft; in the way he asks buck out on a date; and, in the way he reaches out to adjust buck’s shirt. they’re also present in the the way buck cannot stop staring at tommy’s lips so boldly, so openly - mouth agape, pupils dilated; in the way buck is so awe-struck and enchanted; and, in the way he exhales and utters the words, “i’m free.”
the whole sequence — from beginning to end, from the moment tommy knocks on the door, to when he leaves — is so memorable because the emotional and physical development that takes place between buck and tommy is so intertwined, so magnetic with both elements almost amplifying one another. it also makes me go a little insane to think that this moment between these two men who are so incredibly into each other, who are so fond of each other — a moment of pure, raw intimacy; a moment of honest communication and trust building — is what serves as the foundation for their relationship. which, if you ask me, is a fairly solid foundation to build a relationship on.

My hyperfixation is def fading so because of that/the endless fucking discourse and other binfire life reasons I keep making myself not come on here or read anything in the hopes i’ll feel something again and it kind of worked, just saw a gif of the first kiss and had the tiniest little spark of omg that actually did happen. Yay?
Anyhoo I reckon by the the time S8 starts it will have totally faded so the ‘save me, 911 s8 buck and tommy content’ posts are extremely accurate for me.
Just rambling into the void on this boiling sunday morning, have a great day anyone who sees this. 😘

i just realised something: tommy is very clearly not wearing his lafd uniform during the harbour tour. meaning, buck could clearly see he agreed to give the tour during his off hours (which was good since buck wanted to buy him a beer after). i bet it made him feel special, like tommy made an effort to spend time with him bc he wanted to.
and.. let's put aside the fact that tommy organised the tour for just before eddie would arrive so he could go from evan's tour to vegas brodate — bc buck didn't know that. buck shows up at the hangar and is greeted by tommy in his civvies — not just casual clothes but smart-casual clothes (nice jeans, colour coordinated layers, sturdy clean boots; point is: tommy wasn't in sweats and an old tee and he wasn't wearing his work jacket like buck was). buck sees tommy looking all nice "just" for him, "just" to show him around — tell me that didn't make buck feel good to see tommy make time for him during his off hours and look nice doing so.
it makes the eddie brodate sting all the more: bc tommy didn't actually dress up for buck. tommy didn't actually schedule his time at the hangar on his off day for buck — he did it for eddie; buck was just an afterthought. tommy didn't make the effort for buck. and then buck didn't feel able to reach out about those flying lessons..
i just love all the layers that play into his jealousy and bi awakening
