Saezuru Chapter 51 Summary (with pictures!)

Turn back now! Spoilers are afoot (hehe!)

As before, we begin where we left off...

Yashiro is stunned by Doumeki's anger. We finally see Doumeki's angry face here, I will hold that thought until a little later on when you will see it amped up even angrier. No sense frightening the children now.

This is the disjointed part. We don't see Doumeki put Yashiro in the car. While they are in the car, they are calm and Doumeki refuses to say anything to or even look at Yashiro in the mirror. We also don't see how they park and walk and ride up the elevator together.

Being that this is Japan, I assume that they have to have a modicum of decorum while out in public and that they would have behaved normally and calmly (the way they did when Doumeki carted Yashiro away from Inami and then they were passively tense in the elevator.) I assume that we are supposed to understand that things went the same and no sense having to rehash them. However, this leaves this very short chapter feeling a bit rushed. A one or two page montage would have been enough.

For someone about to be violated, Yashiro is pretty damn calm. Okay, okay, this IS Yashiro... but...

Moving on....

We also don't see how they enter Doumeki's apartment. Doumeki just throws Yashiro violently to the floor. Yashiro quips that, like before, Doumeki's place is empty.

Doumeki starts to take off his gloves and Yashiro knows that Doumeki's bare hands on his body are like magic wands of pleasure. Nip to his cat, as it were... Nice contrast of light and dark here.

Doumeki starts to undress Yashiro and Yashiro is beginning to feel a bit nervous. So he tries to thwart Doumeki's attempt.

Last chance...

Here is the angry face I warned you about...

Doumeki pins Yashiro's hands to the floor and yells at him not to even pretend to refuse him. This leaves Yashiro looking very scared.

Yashiro has never seen Doumeki this angry. Granted, angry Doumeki back in chapter 2, was during a time when Yashiro got off on that kind of thing. Current day Yashiro has never been faced with this Doumeki whose anger and unpredictable behavior is unsettling as he does plan to rape him.

That's when Yashiro finds out that Doumeki is actually a VAMPIRE! No, no... save that for the AU! Or hey, a nice Halloween extra!!! Doumeki bites Yashiro's nipple. No TUMBLR, I'm not going to show it. You and your community labels... how about labeling those porn bots who seem to still have free reign all over my TL! Bug them, why don'tcha!?

Moving on...

Yashiro just can't quit those hands as he starts to enjoy what's happening, he even gets into it by touching Doumeki's hair and reaching for Doumeki's shirt (not even in a "let's get this over with" way.) Yashiro is legitimately enjoying himself. That's when Doumeki stops him.

Yashiro asks him why and Doumeki's sheepish reply is "Nothing." Yashiro looks terrified. I wonder what was going through his mind when he pushes Doumeki up and yanks up his shirt to see what Doumeki is hiding.

Well done, Yoneda Kou. I think we are supposed to feel this sadness along with Yashiro. Doumeki has done the unthinkable. Doumeki has branded himself an outcast. He will never live a normal life in Japan. Tattoos are not allowed in onsens either, so Yashiro will have to buy one!

We never get a full or clear picture of the entire tattoo, so we don't know if it has meaning, or if Doumeki merely got anything to show his commitment. Based on his own unwillingness to let Yashiro see it, he probably got it as a way of marking himself so he would be sure to avoid seeing Yashiro again, because he had to know that Yashiro's reaction would be a violent one.

He was right.

For two pages, Yashiro beats the piss out of Doumeki. No words are spoken. Doumeki doesn't fight back. He allows Yashiro to release 4 years of pent up anger. Maybe Yashiro is actually releasing anger that goes deeper than that.

Finally, Doumeki catches Yashiro's wrist, and Yashiro is quiet.

Speechless and blank, Yashiro looks like a teenager who, for the first time, got to beat up the guy who was about to rape him.

Whether or not Doumeki realizes that Yashiro cared so much about him that he kicked his ass for being stupid is not known. They don't say anything to each other.

Doumeki sits up and straddles Yashiro's lap.

And they kiss...

Yashiro wakes up from his stupor and whether he realizes or not that Doumeki is now holding him gently because he loves him and always has is not known, because Yashiro doesn't try to stop him this time.

He grabs Doumeki and pushes him back, trading places and leaping into his arms.

Yeah, this ain't a dream, kids.

Chapter 52 is slated for release on May 31.

Exhale softly, fandom. We're here.

OOOOH Spoilers are flying all over. Not a lot of pics for proof, but I have heard of Doumeki having a back tattoo, Yashiro rejecting the violence until Doumeki kisses him softly, then Yashiro returns the kiss with violent force.

I have heard that we get a little talking, and that we can be happy with the way the chapter ends.

EDIT: Apparently, Doumeki finally understands that Yashiro cares about him, after Yashiro throws a tantrum over Doumeki's life choices. LOL!

So, yesterday a Japanese Saezuru fan told me that when I read the chapter, be careful because my heart would explode. I realized why just a few moments ago. Now I know my theory may differ from what people think, but hear me out.

The bad news: Yoneda Kou is NOT on the cover of the new ihr Hertz!!!

This usually means Saezuru will NOT be in this issue!!!

The good news: We get to do Saezuru Month 49 over again! Because it was just so much damn fun the first time!!

For those of you who are new to this and say, “but but but her name was slated to be in the July issue!?!?” This does happen on occasion, it used to happen so often that the fandom, even in Japan, waited to pre-order until the cover was released because some stores won’t let you cancel.

We should be getting a follow up from Yoneda Kou on what happened. Sometimes it’s just a missed deadline. This can lead to a double issue, and/or the cover of the next volume!

They can’t keep their hands off each other

This chapter isn’t one of those “big reveal” chapters where you get slapped in the face with information, like the previous one where we learned about Yashiro’s impotence. This chapter is more subtle; however, there’s some great takeaways from it, the main one being that both Doumeki’s and Yashiro’s masks are cracking and, despite themselves, they’re starting to show just how much they want each other.

What I love the most is all the touching and dragging around.

Doumeki drags Yashiro by the hand at Tsunakawa’s place and Yashiro pulls away, irritated, asking “Do you think I’m going to run away?” Doumeki responds with “You did so before,” remembering how Yashiro pointed a gun at him in chapter 33 then ran off to deal with Hirata. THIS IS SO IMPORTANT. Why? Because Doumeki still cares. He’s worried about Yashiro, and doesn’t want him to run off into danger again. Yashiro tells Doumeki that he forgot about that incident but, to himself, he admits that he remembers everything he’s done. OMG is Yashiro feeling guilty? Contrite? That is growth! Old Volume One Yashiro wouldn’t give a single fuck about those kinds of things, that was just business. He threw old flames away as soon as they developed feelings, but Doumeki is still here, there’s history between them, and Yashiro has all kinds of tangled emotions about that.

The proof of those emotions comes later in the chapter, when Doumeki puts Yashiro under protection. After a meeting at Tsunakwa’s, there’s a worry that this whole situation is more dangerous than it seems, there are things lurking that haven’t fully come to light and that this isn’t just about money. Yashiro is asked who he wants as a bodyguard, Doumeki or Kamiya, and Yashiro blithely says either of them, because sometimes he’s still Old Yashiro and likes to play games. Doumeki calls him out on it by putting Kamiya in charge.

On the car ride back to his apartment, Yashiro enjoys torturing Kamiya (who is ofc driving bc Yashiro drives like shit.) He tells Kamiya that if he tattles about anything he hears to Tsunakawa, Yashiro will strip him and make him is fuckbuddy ajklshas I live for any interaction between them. Kamiya thinks he’s The Man and watching Yashiro bat him around is priceless. 

But Yashiro does not want Kamiya as his bodyguard. He wants Doumeki. And he acts rashly. 

He throws Kamiya out of the door and grabs Doumeki, dragging him along, just the way he did in chapter 20 when he realized that Doumeki had narrowly escaped death. Both then and now, Yashiro’s feelings for Doumeki overwhelmed him and he lost his chess-ability thinking, lost his mask, and went straight to his lizard brain. He wants Doumeki and he’s going to show it!

To be honest, there’s been a lot of touching since chapter 44 and it’s all beginning to boil over. From the shower scene, to Doumeki pulling Yashiro away from Inami and that steamy sexiness in Yashiro’s apartment, they can’t seem to keep their hands off each other. And now they’re dragging each other around in overly-familiar ways? Brilliant. 

After Yashiro’s little hissy fit about what bodyguard he wants, Doumeki puts his gloved hand over Yashiro’s by the elevator buttons and leans in behind him, telling him “I’ll be back” and for some reason the entire thing is sexual af (like, srsly, look how close he’s standing ajsgakjgk) Yashiro is visibly shook; there are those emotions again. But let’s talk about Doumeki’s emotions for a moment too. He uses Anata when speaking with Yashiro, and says that his ability to gather intel will never be as strong as Yashiro’s. Those are both very kind things, repsectful. Despite his poker face, Doumeki still cares so much. He even makes sure to tell Yashiro that he will come back, but first he has to pick up a weapon (that is not his dick.) He also asks about Inami and WE ALL KNOW that there’s a bunch of jealousy in there.

Hopefully, once Doumeki comes back, we will have some Forced Proximity. The two of them alone in Yashiro’s apartment? Or another location? With only one bad? Doumeki protecting him? They will be forced to talk? And maybe feelings will come out? And touching? P L E A S E

A few other things:

-I love that the cover for this chapter has them side-by-side, not one following the other, or one hovering slightly behind, but together. As equals. And they need to be equals for their relationship to work.

-If you’re looking for some Reverse Dynamic in this chapter, Yashiro stares at the back of Doumeki’s neck, pining, just as Doumeki did with Yashiro in chapter 7. I saw those frames and it immediately brought me back.

-There is some link between Doushinkai and Okuyama’s group and Okuyama is an unstable factor with an axe to grind over Doumeki un-kidnapping Tsunakawa’s daughter so that’s probably why there IS more to this than money.

Do you think that Sugimoto is half Japanese? I mean why else would he have red hair

Not necessarily. Maybe he dyes it? Maybe he spends too much time in the sun (hair lightened with strong red tones and freckles from too much tanning!!!) I'm not sure, we know so little about Sugimoto's past, maybe we'll find out. Yashiro's hair is light colored and we know nothing about his biological father.

But he grew up into a fine looking man!
