the idea that the first time all the one direction boys will be in the same place at the same time since they broke up will be at liam's funeral is so sick to me, nobody deserved this, least of all them
#not a directioner but heartbroken all the same for everybody close to him and all the fans#any death so young is devastating#liam payne#one direction#1d#harry styles#louis tomlinson#zayn malik#niall horan

I used to roll the dice and feel the fear in my enemies’ eyes but now im literally sweeping the streets I used to own!!!! idk what it is about this song but for some reason i can’t explain

i love the hype noah kahan's new music is getting because i also loved his old music and he deserves it. but what's so good for an old fan is that all of his old music is frustrated and distracted and upset and trying to figure it out, and it's relatable. but his new record is still frustrated and distracted and upset and trying to figure it out, but he's addressing it at the source, and it's relatable. he went back home and said the way you were raised made you the way you are now, take a look and see what you're gonna do about it.
#new perspective has me gagging#but like I get it noah I get it#noah kahan#stick season (forever)#stick season#i was/I am#busyhead

the way music can bring back memories in the blink of an eye is incredible. I put my music on shuffle and i'm transported though some of the best and worst moments of my life in a matter of 15 minutes.
i'm in the back of a car with my best friends blasting music, windows down in october. i'm sitting on the curb in the snow at a ski resort eating pb&js with my dad. i'm getting pulled over for speeding on a road trip with the girls. i'm laying in my bed after a surgery trying not to cry. i'm listening to our favorite band's newest single on my phone speaker with my best friend at a birthday party. i'm slow dancing with somebody I really like for the first time. i'm listening to the angry song my friend posted on their socials after we got in a fight.
listen to what makes you feel. half the music I love is honestly objectively bad but i'm allowed to love it, it's mine. you're allowed to love whatever you want, sometimes it's not about the song itself, it's just about you trying to feel something. sometimes it's something you've lost. be gentle. this is important.

thinking about how tyler didn't want navigating on the record originally. and about all of the lyrics that didn't make the final cuts of songs on the other albums that got switched out for lyrics with the same meaning with more symbolism and metaphors. and thinking about how navigating has almost no ambiguous wordplay and is one of the most raw songs they've released. and how tyler cried when he sang the bridge live on tour. how it's resonated with so many people across the globe. and maybe he just didn't want it there because it felt too personal. i'm glad he kept it.

florence welch (florence + the machine) didn't perform one of her top playing songs never let me go for almost 10 years because she it reminded her of a really hard time in her life and at what I think was the first concert she sang it at for years she said "everything I've tried to push away, every part of myself that I thought was too broken or messy, if I put it in a song you always brought it back to me with love, and allowed me to see it in a different way"
which firstly makes me incredibly happy for her and her fan base because they really said it doesn't matter to us that you're human and feel deeply we still want you but also for everyone as a human it says even when you're at your most raw and vulnerable there will always be somebody out there who will receive you with love and return that part of you with even more love than before when you never expected that they would be there
#it's a really beautiful song and I adore it#and I feel like it even is a song that's partially about trust and giving part of yourself up to somebody#but listening to the live where she talks about it never fails to make me feel#florence + the machine#florence welch#never let me go

there's something so important to me about stories told in music that you know the artists hold close to their heart but they give it to you anyways and sometimes that saves you
oh to feel loved enough that you write an entire discography about an alternate universe where the armies you're fighting against are an allegory for the thoughts in your head trying to kill you and the only person who can stand between you and those armies and pull you out of the trenches when you can't do it for yourself anymore and give you a sword to fight back is an allegory for your best friend who saved you
