absence explanation

sooo I know I’ve been gone for like, a really long time, but basically my parents found the tumblr account on my phone and grounded me, and took away my phone. When I got my phone back I realized that they’d blocked tumblr, so I can’t really access it anymore. I’m typing this from the family computer while home alone, so I might still be active sometimes, but not a lot because I’m not home alone very often. Anyway just wanted to say thanks to all the lovely people (and not people) who I’ve met on here :)

Part of the reason you'll never catch me making fun of other trans people's names is because I chose my own name very deliberately

I chose a very traditional name for myself. Think old man name. I chose that during a time in my trans life where I thought I wouldn't live to be an adult. But part of me still hoped I was wrong, and so I chose an old man name with the hope that I will one day be bouncing my grandchild on my knee as they beg for a cookie (that I will of course give them because when they're with their grandpa, they'll be treated special when they visit).

Part of me wanted to live that long and prove myself wrong. And I committed to that through my name. And I think in the end, that's what we're all trying to do.

predators are more conflict-averse than prey - a herbivore can get into a territorial dispute, get gored by a horn, and spend the next while weakened but still easily able to regain its strength from grass and tubers or whatever. a hunter that gets scratched by prey it still manages to kill might not be able to get a kill afterwards, and slowly starve. an ambush predator will back down if you stare at it, but a plant-eater will try to kick you to death.

oh boy, this is gonna take some explaining…

so recently I was watching a nature documentary on netflix just for fun (aka, not for species euphoria, to connect with my theriotype, etc, etc).

it was just a casual little thing about australian marsupials, no biggie. at least, not until the dingoes came on the screen. even though the documentary was sort of taking the side of the kangaroos, i couldn’t help watching the dingoes. watching their colors (oh how i wish i had that reddish tint…), their fur (peak thickness…), their tails (what a coincidence that that is EXACTLY what i feel during phantom shifts…), listening to their noises (wow, my life would be 10x better if i could make sounds like that…)

can you see where im going here? i’ve done a bit more research, and their personality/behaviors/mannerisms for me way better than those of a wolfdog ever did.

A message to the younger members of the community, and those who doubt there place in it:

Beings don't care.

I went to a therian meet up over anthro northwest. And it was NOTHING like the current online spaces, especially all the discourse.

There was no fighting. It was beautiful. Beings were freely using whatever labels they wanted, no one cared "why" someone identified as something, mental, spiritual, physical. Everyone was like "Hey, cool!".

Older folks talked about their time in the community while the younger ones did quads. People howled, played with squeak toys. No one cared. And most importantly, everyone agreed the infighting was pointless.

You WILL be accepted irl. This discourse doesn't matter. You are going to find your beings, and none of these online pissing contests mean anything once you meet others off the screen.

It's a beautiful place out there.

To the animals, the wolves, the lions, the foxes and cats and birds: Your eyes shine so brightly. Your fur is luscious, your feathers luxurious, your teeth furious and beautiful. Your claws are sharper than you think. One day, you will get them back. One day, you will be helpless, human, no more.

To the monsters, the zombies, the cryptids, the vampires, the werewolves and ghosts: The world will always fear that which it does not understand. We understand each other, and through this we have made our own world. We create our reality, and that’s what’s important.

To the therians, the otherkin, the fictionkin, voidpunks, and all other nonhumans: We are strong. We know who and what we are. We know what this flesh conceals. One day, the world will see us for who we are and accept us as her children all the same. For now, we persevere.
