We went all across Iceland hoping to see the Northern Lights at the Artic Henge but couldn’t sue to severe weather conditions, we ended up seeing them back in Reykjavik a day before our flight back home. So I kind of skipped adding these pictures in the sequence, but we went on the golden circle trip first, where we saw 2 things out of the 3, and one of them was Gulfoss! What a magnificent multilevel waterfall this was. Once we were done with our PCR tests and had refilled our water tank and stocked up on drinking water made our breakfast and then strapped in to head out of Akureyri. These are the few pictures we took since the way from here to Reykjavik was pretty long as well and stormy. Not to mention we had wasted almost a day on the road the day before and hadn’t been able to see the northern lights. Due to the storms we were gonna explore more places rather get to Reykjavik and chill a bit. Since we didn’t get to the Artic Henge (hopefully next time), we ended up spending the night and getting our PCR done at Akureyri (A name I still find a bit hard to pronounce). The only other thing we did here was fill up our water tank (thanks to the gentleman at the gas station). Taken next to the banks of Fossálar, this beautiful sight was on our way out of Vik towards the Artic Henge which is on the other side of Iceland (North East). We hadn’t eaten any thing since morning as we weren’t hungry yet and had just gotten out of seeing the Black Sand Beaches of Reynisfjara. This amazing spot made us hit the brakes on the motor home and park safely. Wifey decided to make some sandwiches while I went on to take some good shots of the place. Yep did see the sun a bit and went into the cave, which by the way only a day ago was off limits, but like I said earlier - Iceland is a country of rapid weather changes.. We almost missed Reynisfjara since we were on the other side of the beach till we realised where’s those pretty rock formations! It was pretty windy that day but the storm had passed so we could actually be around this area otherwise the waves had been huge with warnings not to even be close to this area.. but it was still subzero temperature. While we were waiting out the storm in Skógar, we got to know we might be able to see the northern lights and sure enough when we peaked out our that night’s guest house we could see a dim green streak in the sky. We rushed to a darker place so we can enjoy the view and possibly capture it. But it wasn’t meant to be that night, since the aurora faded in only a few minutes. Skógafoss This was quite an experience! Went all the way close to it where I could feel the cold wind and the water hitting my face. #iceland diaries We went to see Skogafoss, with the intent to stay at Vik that night, sadly the camping site in Vik was closed off for winters. We ended returning to Skogar and stayed at this nice guesthouse there. We could have moved onwards except there was a threat of storm that night and I was in no condition to risk it considering I was in a large camper van with my wife and a 2 year old. This picture was shot from there.
