okay everyone laughs at "he cums radiation" but like. the motif of the nuclear family? the masturbatory, self-congratulating sort of masculinity encouraged in the traditional "head of the household" (innuendo intended) without care or responsibility towards the damage that such a system may cause to the patriarch's descendants and partner? the fact that radioactivity lasts for ages, in a subtle comparison to that family trauma? like... it is a funny lyric but there's something there!!

Learning there’s a Les mis adaptation in 2026: “oh cool maybe they’ll get it right this time.”

Director’s interview: makes it clear he sees it solely as the story of archenemies Valjean and Javert who are Obsessed with each other (showing that he’s basing it more on the adaptation/pop culture conception of Les mis than the actual novel), wants it to be a Thriller action film with lots of chase scenes including a dramatic chase scene after Valjean steals the bread, etc etc

Me: I don’t know why I ever have hope. The moral is to expect nothing, always

You gotta read and watch some old books and films that aren’t 100% modern politically correct. I’m not saying you should agree with everything in them but you need to learn where genres came from to understand what those genres are doing today and where media deconstructing old tropes is coming from.

Also, more often than you might think, they’re not actually promoting bigotry so much as “didn’t consider all the implications of something” or just used words that were polite then but considered offensive now.
