An under-rated Iwtv scene: was when Armand mentions Daniel’s “encrypted laptop.”

Because that literally means the vampire (who’s over 500 years old) is tech savvy enough to attempt to hack Daniel’s computer. And was annoyed that the encryption stopped him from doing so. But Louis, who isn’t into tech, completely missed what Armand admitted to (and Daniel clocked it immediately).

Armand hacking into his computer is not only a hilarious visual ( but incredibly suspicious behavior from Armand). He’s so desperate to discover how much Daniel knows that he attempts to hack his laptop instead of just …reading his mind??? Even though it would have been easier? Hmm , interesting that in the 70s he was fine with reading Daniel’s mind (but in the current timeline refuses to do so and even tells Daniel it was “wrong” for Louis to do it). Even when Armand’s pissed that he can’t hack into his laptop (he still doesn’t read his mind). And of course Armand’s refusal to do so (literally backfires on him in the end). Maybe he feels so much guilt for what he did the last time he was in Daniel’s mind ( *cough* big memory wipe) that he refused to ever go into Daniel’s mind again? Even if it causes the destruction of his marriage. Daniel: “you were an ancient vampire you could have read anyone’s mind you wanted. Why didn’t you ?” Armand: … love … it was love .

Armand isn’t an idiot - long before ep8 he already suspected Daniel was in contact with the talamasca. He knew Daniel had info about Paris (that wasn’t in the archives). Daniel’s excuse to him , was his researcher found the info . But Armand probably suspected it was a lie (and again he doesn’t read Daniel’s mind to verify if the excuse was true). And Instead he hacks into Daniel’s computer and sees encryptions (probably making Armand suspect even more, possible talamasca involvement ). It’s why he later asked Rashid over and over again , if Daniel was left alone to talk to anyone (talamasca). And of course instead of just reading Daniel’s mind to learn if he had met up with someone , he just grills Rashid about it (making Louis suspicious of him). And of course before that scene - Daniel already revealed Armand’s lies to Louis (relating to San-Fran ) using the talamasca audio files. Armand KNEW Daniel was probably involved with the talamasca and that just like San Fran (Daniel may reveal lies about Paris). But he’d rather let that happen than actually go back into Daniel’s mind cause it’s “wrong”. Very weird, if nothing happened between the 2 of them.

Armand could have done a lot to prevent the s2 finale: he could have read Daniel’s mind to thwart his plans , altered his memories, implanted ideas in his head , etc. All things he did to Louis & Daniel in sanfran (but for some reason… he doesn’t do so to either of them in Dubai).

It’s a very peculiar change for Armand . Because we see in the 40s he often would read Louis’s mind about “Bruce” and telepathically speak to other vamps all the time . In the books he even preferred to talk telepathically. But, we never SEE him actually use the mind gift in Dubai . He’s known for his powerful mind gift - but he refuses to use it on Daniel . Something changed for Armand- the question is what ? Maybe the last time he went into someone’s mind (aka Daniel’s) it was a bit … traumatic?

And for those who thought he did read Daniel’s mind in Dubai, relating to Alice: I think he just knew about Alice because he heard about her in the past. And he just told Daniel his reasoning for saying no to turning him. (Not what Alice was actually thinking). But I digress

The other day I talked with my younger sibling (she is 23) about amc's "Interview with the Vampire" and the future of the show’s characters. Although we both enjoy the relationship/ the interaction between Armand and Daniel, we disagree on their season 3 development.

I think/ hope we will see a devil’s minion type of relationship (or any kind of romantic relationship) between Daniel and Armand in the present. However my sister hopes, we will only see a romantic/ sexual interpretation of their relationship in form of flashbacks. She argues, that mainstream viewers don’t want to see sexual/ romantic acts, when one partner is well past 70. My answer was that I don’t think IwtV tries to cater to a “mainstream audience” in the first place and I hope they won’t support ageism by erasing a multilayered story line.

At the same time it is fair to feel uncomfortable watching romantic/ sexual acts between people, when there is a huge age gap involved. I know that is the reasoning behind my sisters argumentation. And although I don’t want my sister to feel uncomfortable while watching content we both enjoyed so far, in this specific case I can’t help but think, it would be a huge disservice to the fans and the story, if they choose to show Armand with young Daniel only.

What is your opinion about this.? Do you think the show shying away from portraying a romantic plot between Armand and older Daniel is a possibility we should prepare for?

I hope we get Eric Bogosian’s full frontal dick in close-up specifically to make your sister viscerally uncomfortable. I hope his pubes are so gray that she can’t look at anything gray for a year without Eric’s penis burning itself back into her memory. I hope she throws up every time she sees someone with gray hair and wrinkles. Armand is being a pest about something, so Daniel puts him in time out in the corner for the first time (they're trying out more "traditional" discipline stuff) Armand is all pouty but isn't upset, so Daniel leaves the room "so you can think about what you did" "I think that you suck" "yeah yeah, I'm a terrible monster. Nose to the wall, hands behind your back"

The timeout is supposed to last 30 minute, but after 10ish Daniel hears glass shatters, so he runs to Armand, who is having a panic attack so severe he had lost control of his Gifts, and there's stuff floating everywhere, papers on fire on the floor, and he's crying hysterically, "why did you leave me, I'm sorry I'm a bad kid, don't leave me don't leave me don't leave even if I'm a bad kid I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry -"

Daniel feels like THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD and hugs him so tight he's sure he's broken at least a vertebrae but neither of them cares, he keeps saying how sorry he is, how he loves Armand and would never ever leave him, how Armand is the best kid in the world and it's dad's fault he didn't think it through, how much he loves Armand. Armand ends up feeding from his chest (which he finds the most soothing) and they spend the night glued together like a koala with his favourite tree, cuddling and kissing and watching cartoons (which Daniel grumbles about but he's secretly a big Bluey fan. Don't tell Armand or he'll get insufferable)

Next time Armand is in timeout Daniel is in the same room to watch him ("So you don't kick the wall, kiddo, I'm not made of money") and, if Armand is particularly small, to hold his hand while he calms down

cause you know dm don't do safewords. they do it unsafe, insane, dubiously consensual. and armand gets sooo mad if daniel breaks a scene to check in on him and gives him grief about letting go of his mortal inhibitions. and he'll say he's FINE and that he could throw daniel off of him if he wanted to anytime (he doesn't, more often than not if a scene triggers him he'll freeze until it's over, like a healthy adult /s). so no matter what assad says or does, there is no stopping daniel, and he's supernaturaly strong so there is no fighting him off either. daniel just thinks armand is doing some really cute play fighting with an admirable control of his vampire strength in order to appear human.
