Gliscor spotlight will go up tomorrow (it’s been delayed for many reasons such as computer blue screening and losing my file as well as real life business) but I think I’m gonna take another break from scheduled posts for June and July :-) Instead I think I’m gonna take those two months to really give myself a rigid schedule and weekly goals for making more progress on the design phase, where I’ve stagnated a bit. Hoping I’ll be able to return after then with a lot more interesting guys to show off & significantly closer to the next phase of work on this project ^^ I am gonna try to still post stuff over here during that time, but don’t expect any scheduled polls or spotlights. Not to mention Artfight kicks off in July, where, as always, I’ll be trying to create at least a few pieces! I hope everyone is able to enjoy their lovely summers!

Sunday Spotlight: Grimer
Grimer is a Steel/Poison-type Pokemon. Very unique in genetic makeup, Grimer's body is similar to both a solid and a liquid. They posses very malleable forms and can easily fit their body into any vessel. Many trainers who want to walk with a Grimer outside of its Pokeball will carry it in a transparent vessel, as direct contact with Grimer is inadvisable.
Due to the poisonous nature of their body composition, Pokemon who ingest any part of Grimer will suffer averse physical effects. This manifests in its Liquid Ooze ability. Additionally, as Grimer’s body is able to conduct electricity well, it may also possess the Motor Drive ability.

Sunday Spotlight: Baltoy
Baltoy is a Flying/Dark-type Pokemon. Baltoy are solitary Pokemon, rarely seen with others of their species. Even mated pairs of Baltoy or Claydol are difficult to find in the wild, calling into question how the wild population remains at a decent size.
Even when awake, Baltoy never opens its eyes. The methods it uses to navigate the world are not well understood. Due to its closed eyes and slow, stationary nature, it can be difficult to tell if a Baltoy is awake or asleep. However, its Early Bird ability ensures that is awake more often than not.

Sunday Spotlight: Dunsparce
Dunspace is a Water-type Pokemon. Incredibly timid and shy, Dunsparce will often retreat fully into the small shell on its tail in a seemingly impossible feat. Its eyes have a perpetually-teary appearance, even when it is comfortable, so it can be difficult to understand a Dunsparce's body language.
Dunsparce has a unique internal composition; this Pokemon's body consists almost entirely of water. As such, many moves interact with it in unusual ways, some being entirely ineffectual. This manifests in its potential abilities, Magic Guard and Magic Bounce.

Sunday Spotlight: Purrloin
Purrloin is a Normal/Psychic-type Pokemon. Weak psychic waves are emitted when its bell-tail is rung. Purrloin's only known ability is Normalize.
Small in stature, these Pokemon are capable of great acrobatic feats, always landing gracefully on their feet, no matter how high they jump from. It's theorized that they activate their weak telekinesis moments before impact to right themselves and ensure a soft landing.

Suppose you couldn't do this project with a Black/White(2) game. What would your second pick be?
Oh man, very tough question! I guess I have a few different types of answers:
Fully idealized fantasy answer: Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon. One of my fav generations, full of wonderful designs and with a really fun overall dex. I could play those games endlessly. Would never actually pursue that though, 3Ds era romhacking is very frightening to me, I don’t much like working with 3D models, and I have a feeling the gen7 hacking toolkit scene is probably rather lacking.
Logical rational answer: Emerald. It has an extremely robust hacking scene with a lot of tools and tutorials, a decently solid dex, and is very easy to patch and play. Unfortunately, I don’t have any nostalgia for RSE, and I’m a bit tired of playing through Hoenn as Emerald is used as a base for many of the (very good!) Romhacks I’ve sampled.
Nonsense but true answer: pokemon conquest
I think I gravitated so naturally to Gen5 because it’s the perfect overlap of my preferred gens (Gen5-9) & approachable to learn & hack (pre 3DS-era). Honestly, I’m not really sure if there’s another Pokémon game I could see myself being able to work so passionately on while also not feel frustrated trying to learn the ropes of hacking it.

Will the scenery with Pokémon imagery be changed? i.e. the inflatable pokemon in Nimbasa city
Not certain! I believe that a lot of these objects are 3D models, which is a realm I’m not super familiar with. I’ve definitely played with retexturing 3D models in DS games (largely AC Wild World), but it’s a bit more foreign to me than sprite swapping. I’ve done a bit of digging into mapping tools for BW2 & the way that maps are composed of 3D pieces, and it may be too far over my head… It remains to be seen though! I’d like to make changes of that sort wherever I can, though ^^
#asks#A lot of additional stuff like this will probably be decided late—if it seems like I can do it I will#& if it seems like I can’t I’m willing to move on to make sure the game releases lol

Sunday Spotlight: Litwick
Litwick is a Psychic/Steel-type Pokemon. Litwick's potential abilities, Anticipation and Magic Bounce, are indicative of its careful nature. This Pokemon is easily spotted in dark areas due to the blue glow given off by the smoke inside it.
The Litwick line is well known for its prophetic powers. The smoke that forms within them and rises upwards is able to form images pertaining to the future of those who interact with them. While Litwick's powers of divination are much more limited than Lampent or Chandelure, they are popular to consult for simple tasks, like predicting rain or helping aspiring trainers decide on their starter Pokemon.

Wanted to make a liiiittle update since I had planned to resume posting in January but it didn't shake out. Will be resuming posting here (for real) in February, but after I post the overdue Spotlight, I'll be switching up to an every-other-week schedule. :-) On the off weeks that polls & spotlights aren't posted, I'm gonna devote those Sundays to designing at least 1 new line ^^ Have gotten to the point in the dex where it's taking me much longer to design new 'mons, because I don't have immediate strong ideas in mind, so I have to play with multiple concepts before I'm satisfied. Think this schedule will be good for keeping me working on both further developing the guys I've already designed, as well as continuing to fill out the dex behind the scenes. Still happy to answer asks, post little doodles, and keep posting some of those fusions I still have in my askbox, so hopefully the blog won't feel too dead on the off weeks. Thanks all for hangin' around and enjoying my project!
#updates#(have also been workin away on some fun commissions & a few side projects!)#(but yeah i think since ive always known this will be a looooooooong term project id like to space out my schedule with it a bit more)#(determined to see it thru and the best way for someone like me to do so is to avoid burnout with it by taking it slow)
