Sunday Spotlight: Staryu

Staryu is a Rock/Grass-type Pokemon. Staryu move rather slowly, performing cartwheel-like motions to traverse. They can gain significant speed when going down slopes, but often lose control and struggle to stop. Their potential abilities are Skill Link and Overgrow.

Preferring to remain stationary, Staryu are always in search of an ideal place to call home. Staryu gravitate towards areas with abundant plant life, sunshine, and water. Once a Staryu has decided it likes a spot, it will not leave unless forced. Gardeners often try to cultivate an ideal environment for Staryu in hopes of attracting them, as they are considered both beautiful and beneficial for plant growth.

The Sunday Spotlight

Can’t believe it is Sunday again! These weeks in summer go by too quickly and I completely lose track.

I don’t normally advertise myself on the Sunday Spotlight. In fact, I prefer not to. This post is meant to be the light that shines on someone else’s work. There’s a new line of fics in the works from me though, and I thought that my regular followers might want to see it, especially if you missed my house elf posting the samples from the day before.

Yeah, it says AU. It also says “Dreams.” This series is all about the Golds Rumbelling themselves into anything and everything. The first fic is called A Full Imagination and is Belle Rumbelling The Full Monty as she encounters television for the first time. (Because we all know she would!) I have a fun little arrangement of characters from Belle’s life as of the time everyone wakes from the curse, and I merge that right in with her own memories and the movie that is going on in front of her eyes. My hope is that I can do the whole thing justice.

The whole point of this series is to get a good collection of things together to fill your AU desires, so feel free to prompt me. I can’t guarantee that I will Rumbelle everything I get (I have quite a list myself also and you know how slow I am to post stuff)  but I can promise that I will try to include whatever I get.

If I prompted YOU to Rumbelle something and you aren’t in the mood, remind me and I’ll take that story out of your hands and back into my own brain.

Here’s a snip from  the start of Chapter 2...

Everyone in the room stared at Belle as she held up the clipboard in her hands. “All right,” she told the captive audience spread out among the tables before her. “Your application letters need to be finished before the end of the day. If you have any trouble with them, I’ll be right here.” She pointed to the desk she intended to claim as her own, then promptly sat, making sure her gaze could take in the entire room. Surprisingly, or perhaps not surprisingly given the reputation of the men in front of her, not one of them listened. Instead, they went back to their conversations and card games, chatting with each other as if she weren’t even in the room with them.

“Women only?” Jefferson’s voice bounced up above the crowd, making her glare at him. He only smiled that charming smile of his and settled back down. “Doesn’t seem fair.”

“Not much call for men in this town to watch other men swing their backsides around on stage,” David reminded him.

Jefferson shrugged. “Some of us might.”

Across from him, Gold rolled his eyes. “All right, all right, but I’m telling you, if that keeps up, women around here won’t need us any more. We’ve already lost our jobs when the factory shut down.”

“Some of us come here to look for new jobs,” barked Leroy from the side of the room. He turned in his chair, then gestured at the screen and keyboard he was using. “Not everyone wants to sit around all day feeling useless.”

“We don’t feel useless,” Gold told him. “We are useless. Not a job in this town to be had and not a person around who will hire us. Not with our reputations.”

Leroy huffed. “Change your reputation then. Pick up your pencils and get to work on those papers.”

“You’re not our boss, Leroy,” Jefferson responded, singsonging in a boyish tease. “In fact, we don’t have any bosses any more, not any of us, and not you.”

“You’re just like the rest of us,” Gold huffed, picking up the cards that he’d been dealt, then dropping one down on the table. “Phasing out of existence. Just like the dinosaurs.”

“Yeah, well I actually have dreams for my future, so you can keep on with your games, and continue to be a waste of everyone’s time, but I’m getting back to work.” Leroy turned his back to them all then, grumbling at himself as his fingers jabbed away at the keys.

What better way to round off the week, than with a little pwp? Each Sunday, we'll be sharing a smutty rec from the week's Spotlight Pair. That means this week, it's the boys' turn to play.

“Oh, well, it’s interesting. See — oh, do you know what a Gnydarian is? They’re like big jelly things that are covered in these cute li’l poisonous barbs — and, well, anyway, mating is really painful and unpleasant for them, you know, because of the barbs, so to continue the species they have to have a way to make not mating even more unpleasant. Basically, they have this glandular secretion that makes them want to — you know, turn down the lights and play something sexy and get with the babymaking, or they get jelly-like in a bad way. Basically a big old endorphin bomb. I have a sample of his blood from when he was here and his testosterone and vasopressin are through the roof and by now he’s probably basically leaking noradrenaline — ” Angel had to stop her before the syllable count on those chemicals started to get too high. “So Spike got — get off my leg, Spike — what, magically roofied?”

The why: Well, for a start, it's fuck-or-die with more kinks than you can shake a very stiff stick at. But, beyond that, there's a lot of heart to this piece, as Angel helps Spike through some very...hard...times, and it brings them closer together in ways far beyond the obvious. The dynamic between the two is fantastic, and there's some lovely glimpses into times past and the ways things have changed. It's all incredibly hot but also sometimes sweet and, at times, just delightfully funny. Lovelyorbent is a master of the genre, and captures the characters essences so very well. This fic also doesn't shy away from the tougher and less pleasant aspects of being in this kind of situation, and you'll really feel for the two of them.

Sunday Spotlight: Rufflet

Rufflet is a Flying/Fighting-type Pokemon. Markedly disciplined, Rufflet spend much of their time training their bodies and reflexes in seclusion. They are known to leave their nests much earlier than many other Flying-type Pokemon. Rufflet can be difficult to find in the wild, due to their tendency to sequester themselves in caves or on high peaks.

Despite all their training, Rufflet rarely engage in combat unless forced. Their No Guard and Sheer Force abilities make them formidable opponents, and they often come out on top against larger Pokemon who may try to prey on them. Rufflet prefer to spend time alone, and can often struggle to bond with other Pokemon as part of a trainer's team.

Eric Stitt (voice of Klonoa) | Sunday, 01.21.24

Remember when Eric Stitt voiced Klonoa back in 2009? He received a ton of controversy from the fanbase for giving the title character that whole teenager vibe, despite the fact that his own voice was picked due to Klonoa's design, not because did he not know what voice to give him, nor was he aware of Kumiko Watanabe's previous roles as him.

“Ah, you’ve finally arrived,” Toshinori’s mouth said on its own. It was a strange thing for him to say. Though he was always impatient to see his charge, this was the regular time.

“Oh, sorry!” Midoriya said, “I didn’t mean to keep you waiting.”

Toshinori folded his hands in his lap and said nothing, waiting for Midoriya to sit down. This was a little disconcerting. He wanted to say that it was no trouble, that he hadn’t been waiting on purpose, and that he had meant to get here early in order to make tea. The words wouldn’t come.
