something that i hate is when people use exclusively she/her pronouns on me.
like yeah, i am fine w any pronouns, but it’s just that everyone only uses she/her on me. i get that i look pretty feminine, and sure, it makes sense. but could at least one person try to spice it up? they/them? he/him?
and also, my pronouns are they/any which like, yeah, it does have any in it cause i wont feel uncomfortable or anything if you use any pronouns, but i still like they/them the most.
i feel like i wouldn’t have as much as a problem w she/her and fem terms if it wasn’t the only thing people used w me.
can people please start putting the they or the any in they/any 💔
it literally makes me so happy when people use he/him or they/them. PLEASE 💔💔
(also i like, don’t wanna directly tell people this cause it feels like i’d make them feel guilty and they didnt really do anything wrong)

complimented a cashier on her turtle pin this morning and she said "oh thanks, I am a little bit of a Turtle Person" with the carefully contained energy of Cookie Monster telling you he's mildly fond of chocolate chips
I hope she and the multiple tons of turtle merch she definitely has at home are having a wonderful day

I'm rereading Queen's Gambit (again) and thinking about how chess is a bit like education.
When you're in university learning about teaching, there's time to look at every single aspect of a lesson plan or interaction from multiple perspectives. I enjoyed this very much. It's like reading a chess book slowly and seeing the beauty and complexity.
But once you're working as a teacher, it's more like playing speed chess for 6 hours per day. There's hundreds or thousands of moves to be made, quickly, no time for analysis.
When you get home in the evening you have two options. You can try to run analysis of the day in retrospect, which is frustrating when you discover your own mistakes and only have time to look at a fraction of the decisions anyway. Your other option is to turn your brain off and get some rest before tomorrow.
And what are the stakes? Not to win or lose a chess tournament. But the future of your students' lives.

Ahh this show might hit very different as a Texan! I feel like the writing makes the local culture into a bit of a joke, not sure if most Texans would find that hilarious or not?
Georgie was certainly too young to be a parent, they keep repeating that fact, but also he puts the work in an does an unexpectedly good job. I haven't seen the last season yet, so I wonder if the conclusion might leave young viewers with a sense of 'wow I better not mess up and get someone pregnant like Georgie' or 'huh I guess it wouldn't be too bad, after all they got through it'
Sometimes people make fun of me for thinking sitcoms have an outcome in the life of young viewers, but for me it absolutely did. In a household that didn't talk much about adult relationships, I thought I learned a lot about how the 'real world worked' from watching things like Friends. Turns out reality is not the same thing 😅
Okay so tell me more about Young Sheldon? I've noticed people have a lot of criticism of Big Bang Theory and I mostly don't see the problem there, I love the characters so much. I thought it was a really refreshing show when it first came out.
I’ve only ever seen it in the background. Soooooo I don’t really know much. I ain’t no hater. Also my little step-brother really loves the show, so when I’m at my dad’s house I absorb some.
occasionally I’ll hear Sheldon say something that would be seen as insanely sassy, but so do most of the characters. I personally don’t see much to criticize about the show. I know Georgie was wayyyyy too young to be a parent.
Missy reminds a lot me of my little sister. I mean this in both ways, bad and good. They’re both only doing anything for their own goals. But they can understand situational circumstances and how to scam people. Both are smart and clever.
the mom’s eyes concerns me.

Did Martin just imagine in his head that Zaphod has the personality of an American? Is he copying an actor from a movie version? So many questions. Especially since he doesn't really "do a voice" for any of the other characters..
Also I thought Zaphod would be spelled Zeyfod but that's on me
I listened to The Hitchhikers Guide to the Universe (much overdue) narrated by Stephen Fry, then I continued with the sequel, which is narrated by Martin Freeman.
They both do a fine job with narration, I'm only confused with the sudden and drastic change of accent for Zaphod Beeblebrox. Why did that happen? Can someone actually enlighten me?

The 2025 Gender Census is now open!
[ Link to survey ]
The 12th annual international gender census, collecting information about the language we use to refer to ourselves and each other, is now open until 30th August 2025. It's for people whose genders (or lack thereof) defy or transcend the restrictive male/female binary.
It’s short and easy, for most participants it takes 5 minutes or less.
We're about a third of the way through the survey month and there are an incredible 30,000 respondents internationally so far from word-of-mouth alone - but the majority are from the USA, referred by Tumblr, and/or under 30! Can you help get the word out to more people?
Here are some links to social media posts for easy sharing:
bluesky, facebook, instagram, threads, reddit, telegram, whatsapp, signal, discord, and the fediverse (mastodon etc)
The survey URL is https://survey.gendercensus.com and it's especially helpful if you can share it with your local LGBTQ+ support group(s) online or in person.
We also have some flyers / leaflets / tiny posters, which you can print out and stick up anywhere, and we have a press release pack with some helpful text and illustrations you can use freely.
Thank you so much everyone!

PS: I'm going to be queuing this to post several times a day for a few days to catch people in as many timezones as possible. To avoid spam, please blacklist this hashtag: #GC2025 promo

The thing about growing up with undiagnosed autism is that you’re a bad kid. And you don’t know how to stop being a bad kid. But you’re pedantic, you hate hugs, you’d rather be alone than attend a family gathering, you play by yourself instead of with friends or family, you make mealtime impossible, you can’t even look your parents in the face, you lie to get out of going to school and when you’re there you complete your assignments correctly but in a way that is somehow inherently wrong. You’re wrong. There is something wrong with you and you can’t identify it or fix it. You can’t begin to explain it. You pull for justifications and apologies. You were a bad kid and there was nothing you could do to be better.

"You're complaining about waking up at 6am? That's nothing! I get up at 4am every morning and it's no problem! You're just lazy!"
Okay. But clearly, you've had enough time to adapt your sleep schedule until that time felt normal for you. If someone suddenly has to change their wake up from 8am to 6am, for example, it's just as difficult for them as it would be for you to suddenly be expected to start your day at 2am.

A couple of months ago:
Hm maybe I should strategically place toys in a play corner in every room, so baby has something to do wherever we are.
Now:

Okay it's not very strategic, but yes there are toys in e v e r y r o o m.

in fact there IS no neutral pronoun to use on a person, if they've first informed you that they use another or other pronouns.
Repeat after me: 'they' is not a neutral pronoun to use on a person, if they have informed you that they use another or other pronouns.

Mmmmm spicy pronoun soup 😋😍
People with multiple pronouns in their bios like (they/it/her) or something like that, I have one question… is it okay if I use it has a spice rack of pronouns. like for a hypothetical example Grekel uses xe/him/it. So I with use xyr’s pronouns in a circle. First using xe, then using him, then it. I would like to know if that’d be rude to him in this hypothetical. Because I have the urge to just flip flop pronouns. But I wanna respect its pronouns while also spinning xyr’s spice rack. He will have to pry my dead hands off its pronouns BECAUSE IM MAKING SOME SOUP BABY.

Some people put the preferred pronoun first, others would just looooove the "spice rack" treatment. I wouldn't mind trying it!
