I Know The End is very fun and having both the kid version of Scar and the adult version present at the same time is probably my favorite part about it.

Rift is - albeit unknowingly - haunted by his future. Scar is haunted by his past.

you keep building up and teasing the scarland chapter, atp im convinced something BIG will happen.... like it won't be just scar awkwardly trying to hide his discomfort/fear, he's gonna start phasing through walls or something 😭 the stab is one thing but continued close encounters are likely not good for scar's um.. stability in existence

if i had a nickel for every scar-centric fic you wrote where scar doesn't tell the hermits/lifers about something deathly important until its too late id have enough for jimmy to give me an angry side-eye /j

It's a humbling, bittersweet sort of question, coming from a child who could carry most of his personal possessions in a single backpack. The most important ones, anyway. Grian wonders if he left anything behind that he'll miss.

There's a whole world out there that Rift hasn't seen yet, and Grian can't wait to show him. He wants him to learn that not everything has to hurt. There is a life that is about more than fighting to survive. There is a place where he has a name. A place where it matters if he cries.

Imagining fresh out of TCD Scar making his first friends and that far off distant dream becoming a reality

I also has a question. I know that it'll probably never matter to c!Scar specifically since the teenagers all disappeared when he was young and barely remembers them, but do you have like any idea how any of the teenagers might have known Scar or their relationship to him?

Having friends is so important to him :(( I imagine it took older scar post tcd a while to feel confident enough to call people friends, but little kids don’t usually have that reservation. They straight up ask if u wanna be friends and then that’s that <33

The teenagers I imagine are remnants of the last group of survivors on the server, where slowly all of the older members got killed until they were the only ones left. I think they find little toddler Scar in the ruins of some old building, clearly alone. Maybe it would have been easier to leave him behind but he’s human and they can’t bring themselves to do it. They take him back to their base and try their best to take care of him for a few years, teaching him some things important to survival. They don’t give him a name, and they never really let themselves get attached to him, but they teach him to count and to talk, and they teach him how to shoot a gun even though he’s barely strong enough to hold one.

Then one day they leave and never come back, and that’s that. Scar, maybe close to five years old at this time, has to take care of himself. As time goes on, he forgets more and more about them.

I don’t think so! I’m planning on keeping it platonic for this fic, but if you want to imagine that certain characters are together go ahead :]
