here's the thing. dean and amara were supposed to have some sort of special bond. cosmic. unbreakable. that bond was supposed to be so strong that dean wouldn't have been able to resist. and yet. when cas was in danger - THE ANGEL WAS LITERALLY THE FIRST THING DEAN COULD THINK OF!! And Amara was right there!?

And when Amara couldn't find Dean, SHE FOLLOWED CAS' HEART TO REACH HIM!!

it's always a little funny seeing people watch supernatural for the first time and they get to cas' intro and expect him to be really sweet and then he's like. threatening dean and pushing him up against the wall and chokeslamming demons and he sounds like he smokes a pack a day. and then 3 seasons from his introduction he's practically committing angel genocide. he's our little war criminal your honor <3

WHAT THEY TOOK FROM US
"The only thing I think we have left, Dean and me, is each other. If Dean says it's time to go out in a blaze of glory, win or lose, so be it. I'm in. But then ... (smiles at Dean) that's just how I roll."
[spn 5x4]
"A part of me always believed you'll come back."
[spn 7x17]
"I forgive you, Cas ... I love you."
[spn 8x17]
"That's where Dean spread your ashes. After we burned you."
[spn 13x6]
"I lost Cas and it damn near broke me..."
[spn 13x20]
"according to your plan, the world loses you, and me-- I-I lose you too, and that is unacceptable to me, Dean.”
[spn 14x12]
"But still beautiful. Still Dean Winchester."
[spn 15x20]
DELETED BUT NOT FORGOTTEN.

the thing that gets me is how intensely private dean's grief is. dean purposely getting out of the impala and heading some place quiet and empty to pray. dean preparing cas' body for the funeral pyre, alone. dean going to a meadow to spread his ashes, alone. dean holed up in his room drinking listening to music trying his best to drown out the overwhelming pain of it all. we do not see sam grieve for cas in this way. it's not even remotely the same.

the parallels between the way their relationship started and ended might actually be the most beautiful in the history of tv
STARTED AND ENDED ON THE DEVIL'S TRAP
STARTED AND ENDED WITH A HANDPRINT

STARTED AND ENDED WITH CAS SAVING DEAN WINCHESTER

Two Princes | E | 24,619
Author: andimeantittosting | Artist: Jay Valq (jayjayverse)
When Prince Castiel of Eden discovers his father’s deepest secret, he expects a far worse punishment than an arranged marriage to Dean of Winchester, who is only recently restored to legitimacy and is second to his younger half-brother in the line of succession. Though the courtiers of Winchester are suspicious of Castiel, he and Dean become allies and fast friends, until the unthinkable happens and the young crown prince falls deathly ill.

I think Dean should have manipulated prayer so much more than he did, cas is talking so someone and from twenty feet away dean prays dear angel of the lord Castiel, your fly's down... Lol made you look

and i do think it’s worth noting that when castiel goes to explain himself, he goes to bobby’s in the middle of the night when everyone is asleep and appears only to dean. dean is the only one that he needs to understand him.
