Ran into some trouble with a scene last night when I had to call it a night because I wasn't sure what to do with it. Still don't know what to do with it, but I can do an aside to get past it (that's a second draft problem)

About to brush my teeth (had dinner, don't like the aftertaste and figured I'd scrub out my mouth and do my tiny self care routine) and get started. I only get about three hours tonight, very strict half hour reading time limit tonight because of corporate overlords being cockwaffles and forcing a mandatory in office day tomorrow.

Beginning progress: 500 words? I did a little writing yesterday but wasn't really keeping an eye on it (because again watching C-dramas makes for slow writing progress). My wife is working tonight, so sadly, I'm not doing much beyond this. I'm going through my playlist so I can just listen while vibing and writing.

Chapter One Progress

at some point this chapter should be done, dammit...

Chapter One: Started at 4.2k, I'm up to 4.9k and finally patched one small hole in the plot.

I'm going to make an aside just so I can move on...

Chapter did not progress, woops

So I didn't succeed in doing anything except maybe ten words last night on Metzli's story (woops). Saturdays are typically a date day/night with the wife <3 so we started watching something (typical of a date for us). We watched the live action Cells at Work (absolutely loved it, one of my favorite anime to live action adaptations to date) and had fun, then we started watching Love Game in Eastern Fantasy and we were joking, because my wife and I are women, married to each other, and there's just not enough fun lesbian stuff in the fantasy genre, and I'm a huge fan of wuxia (if I understand the difference between wuxia and xianxia correctly). I've been talking about there just not being enough good baihe that's easy to find these days, especially available in a print format so I may own it and read it while smiling and giggling and being happy. I love transmigration novels. I love writing characters that don't know what they're doing but they're doing they're best still, and trying so hard to make it work.

I am a writer.

I now have an outline for another novel (have to add a subplot about a clingy brother and his secret boyfriend, but it's mostly done)

Saturday Progress

My plan is to finish chapter one, whether that's creating a semi-detailed aside to fix/flesh out later, or make this scene behave. (Any writer of fiction in any form probably understands what that means.)

And at least get a good start on chapter two. Need to come up with chapter title for it too. I refuse to use an AI generator (for obvious reasons) so I have to wait until my wife comes back home so I can play with my mental slinky and discuss that with my wife, who is so good at titles...

Wrestling control of this plot from my characters. Yay.

So last night's final chapter wordcount was about 4.2k, and it's about 96% done now. That runs entirely on vibes, no idea how quickly the end of the chapter will happen until it's done.

Then I can start wrestling Metzli for control of this story again.
