Natural Black Hair Tutorial! Usually Black hair is excluded in the hair tutorials which I have seen so I have gone through it in depth because it’s really not enough to tell someone simply, “Black hair is really curly, draw it really curly.” 

The next part of Black Hair In Depth will feature styles and ideas for designing characters and I will release it around February. If you would like to see certain styles, please shoot me a message!

I freehanded that anatomy, baby!!! Thank goodness for kissing refs though jfc their faces were a whole other matter.

Learned how to do dappled sunlight too, oh it is so heavenly. Also shout out to Baphiste's Body Hair brushes! So clutch.

This was supposed to be lined but, well, things got away from me ha ha. I can't seem to stop myelf from going 120% on any project with these two!

Someday I will settle on a hair texture for Asher, I think ideally it's looser than this but tighter than the other portrait. He's like if a floofy haired teenage boy grew up as a fisherman.

One thing I will never doubt is having his skin highlight be olive.

On the long journey back to Dorana, Gar wants to make up for his "unprincely" reaction to Asher’s (now thwarted) plans to leave. When they come upon a hot spring on a wooded path at midday, he gets an opportunity to take away some of Asher’s pain.

At this point in the book they're both so beat up, physically and emotionally, it's very cathartic to give them this little reprieve.

They’ve released not just digitized works of art, but also a great many art history texts and art books in general. Just this week, they announced an expansion of access to their digital archive, in that they’ve made nearly 88,000 images free to download on their Open Content database under Creative Commons Zero (CC0). That means “you can copy, modify, distribute and perform the work, even for commercial purposes, all without asking permission.”

88,000 new free images just dropped, to use however you like.
