"'Old people handwriting' would be correct." He plays along, gracious as he is, and he sees a someone from the corner of his eye in the crowd who absolutely adores this entire exchange. His body angles slightly more towards that person.

When they point, he follows the direction their finger goes, as if expecting to find anyone. He wasn't, of course-- merely keeping up appearances and making the kid feel more listened-to.

"I see... considering you are here with someone, why don't we go and find them, hm?" He touches Ree's shoulder on his way back to a proper stand, as if urging them to follow as he begins onward. "Capable and well-raised as you may be, you shouldn't be left wandering unattended."

They are small; smaller than most kids their age. Thin limbs and skinny knees accompany the five year old; they take the paper with a genuine smile, both green eyes shining.

“Thank you,” they remember to say, bowing their head just a bit as they squint over the signature — they can read, of course, they know their letters, but this handwriting is hard — it’s like —

“This is old people handwriting. Right? Like the kind old people do in, like a hundred years ago. Curveses, yeah?

Oh,” they add, almost as an afterthought, “and, i’m not with, I’m not with mama today. My brother is…” they lift their head, before pointing. “… over there, somewhere.”

more germanic things i can tie to ghetsis. having light hair. in rome, the nobility wore wigs from their germanic (and gaul) captives because it became a standard of beauty.

also, that cutting long hair in germanic tradition was majorly devastating.

i think him playing both sides of the roman-germanic conflict is very interesting from a character standpoint. like him being a tritone, or like him relating to kyurem. he's in between two things, not entirely black or white.

he plays both sides because he has long, light hair, but he's part of the nobility that would definitely take others' beauty for his own. beyond that, he has no respect for tradition or culture unless it can be used as a front to drive forward his own goals.

also i looove ghetsis teraleak bw2 battle theme so much because the bass is just. heartbeat. an erratic heartbeat.. and knowing that ghetsis literally "loses his heart" (and goes catatonic) aferwards... omg... so good

He lowers his hand to take the piece of paper before he even moves his head, instinctual. He's among businessmen, clamouring to speak with him only to be silenced once his other hand, gloved, raises.

Ree is still so short, even with Ghetsis' hand as low as it could go, so he leans in the rest of the way to reach it. Everyone witnesses the Harmonia taking time out of his daily fare to appease a child, and those witnesses would spread the word to anyone else they told about this encounter that Sage Ghetsis was a good man.

"Your mother is a flatterer." He laughs a light laugh, cracking a smile that'd been otherwise lost with the adults flanking him. Paper in hand he draws himself up to his full height and glances around noncommittally before patting his person.

He asks the crowd-- "Does anyone have a pen?"

And watches as the bodies all scramble to uncover a pen for Ghetsis' use.

One eventually finds its way into his gloved hand, the right hand. He passes that pen to his left hand and parts the crowd around him as he finds a solid, untextured surface with which to write on.

Pen cap off, signature written, pen cap on. He passes the pen back to whoever it was that gave it to him in the first place as he makes his way back to Ree's side, once again lowering himself closer to the child's level to deliver the signed paper in their hands.

He has that smile again.

"Tell your mother she's doing a fine job raising you, and that she should be proud to have such a confident kid as her own."

Everything I write just seems to go right back to bullying zinzolin. I'd say somebody should help him but he does this to himself

me: so in the bw2 arc of pokespe they actually tie zinzolin up and just hang him from the roof of the frigate i guess and he's bleeding and drfting in and out of consciousness and idk whats even going on
