Popbar
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A new gelato on stick or popsicle store inside Metrotown Mall. I was impressed that they have variety of flavours. Everything is all natural and gluten free. When you order the choice of popbar you like, you can actually make your own frozen creation by dipping it to dark chocolate and add toppings of your choice. We actually tried the green tea and coffee flavour. We just want it plain because the chocolate might overpower the real taste of it. It was creamy and not too sweet. The matcha was actually legit and delicious. My only concern was it melts quite fast. A little bit of pricey but worth a try.

Trafiq
Tumblr media
We went here to try their cake because I have a friend who is a huge fan of this bakery. She will always tell me how delicious their cake was. After a lunch date with my friend, I ask her to accompany me and eat dessert here.  The cafe also serve sandwiches, soup, coffee and alcoholic drinks. The cafe is a good place to bring a friend and just hang around while eating dessert. I had a huge dilemma which cake should I order, because everything looks delicious. I ask the lady in the counter which chocolate cake she would recommend and she said to try their Chocolate Decadence. It is a devils food cake with layers of bitter sweet chocolate mousse covered in chocolate ganache. Tha chocolate cake was so rich and sinful but it makes a chocolate lover happy. The cake was moist and has a hint of bitter-sweet taste. It was very scrumptious and make sure to eat the chocolate ball last. trust me it was worth it. Trafiq is located at Main Street.

Simply Delicious
Me and my gym buddy loves to eat out after working out. We only do it once a week as a reward. We checked on the internet which restaurants are still open late night. Then Simply Delicious was nearby so we went their for late dinner. The restaurant is on second floor and open till 1am. The resto is located at Main Street. It was dark inside and it was busy. I think there was a big party but after 15 minutes we had our seat already. There were performers on their stage so the music was a little bit loud. When we check the menu the prices were surprisingly cheap and affordable. We decided just to order appetizer and a dessert.
Tumblr media
Jappa wings. Wings were marinated with their teryaki house sauce. It has a tangy and sweet flavor with a hint of peppery taste. Wings was a little bit over cook but the sauce was delicious.
Tumblr media
My bias food the Calamari. When they serve the Calamari, I thought it was a stir fry squid. Then when I tasted it, then I found out that it was deep fried. The coating or breading was not too much but still crispy. It has a salt and pepper taste which I always prefer.
Tumblr media
We ordered ferrero rocher deep fried banana for dessert. Honesty I was curious on how they will incorporate a ferrero rocher on it. Then when the dessert was served they actually put one ferrero rocher in the middle of the plate like a decoration. It was actually good but a little bit oily. The breading was so crunchy and the they have put a generous amount of chocolate syrup.

Fondway Cafe
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One of my classmate came here with me for brunch. A cute cafe that is near Metrotown. I already bookmarked this cafe but we always end up eating somewhere. They serve pastry, cake, slush, sandwich and so on and so on. The interior of the cafe was neat, bright and cute. I can probably just stay here and have my me time if I am bored. I love how they put their menu on a chalk board and wooden boards very creative. People who works here are very friendly and accommodating. The shop was so quiet that day that we were whispering to each other.
Tumblr media
A wall full of different kinds of tea.
Tumblr media
I fell in love with their lights hanging from the ceiling. I want this on my room too.
Tumblr media
We ordered the waffle brunch. It comes with 2 waffles, salad on the side and 3 different kinds of side dish. I actually love the presentation of the food. It looks so fancy and picture worthy. The wooden boards are very popular now in restaurants. The waffle was delicious. It has the right amount of sweetness and moist on the inside. The salad was just plain but fresh.
Tumblr media
Even the 3 sides was also presented well. It comes with a sunny side egg, clam chowder and if I am not mistaken the last one was a chicken and egg salad. My personal favorite was the soup.
Tumblr media
For coffee slush, I ordered Caramel Macchiato which is my personal favorite. The tall glass just made this slush look pretty. They blended it well and they put a decent amount of caramel sauce on it and that a sure win for me.
Tumblr media
Now let’s talk about their delectable dessert. We ordered their Matcha Cheesecake because Matcha is my first love. This was absolutely my dream dessert. It was smooth, creamy and melts in your mouth. Each bite you can taste the bitterness of the matcha and the sweetness of cheesecake at the same time. They put a small amount of caramel sauce on the side and I add it on my cheesecake. You won’t regret it! I won’t mind buying this everyday as my dessert.
Tumblr media
I would highly recommend this to my other foodie.  Every single thing we tried here is so worth it. This will be new favorite cafe. Located at Central Burnaby.

Straight Outta Brooklyn NYC Pizzeria
Tumblr media
A new Brooklyn style pizza can now be experience in Vancouver. The one we went to was the Kingsway branch. The moment we step in inside all I can smell was the aroma of their pizza. The place was small but ambiance was perfect for friends who loves pizza. The take out counter was busy but the dine in one was just okay. Usually when I eat pizza the more plain the better. We were having a hard time which one to try. The server there was kind enough to explain to us some of their specialty. I was able to take a picture of their cool sign with the pizza on it.
Tumblr media
We ordered the Classic or what we call here pepperoni pizza. Then the other one was the Original or Margherita pizza that has tomato, fresh mozzarella and basil. I was surprised how big the slice of pizza they serve. I honestly think it is already good for 2 person, unless you are a pizza monster. The pizza was thin and foldable crust. It was delicious fine pizza that we enjoy that evening. I add pepper flakes on it just to give a little spice on it. A whole order of pizza will cost you &13 to & $16 which for me is very reasonable and has a huge serving. I definitely bringing my friends here who loves pizza.

Lik N2 Ice Cream
This newly opened liquid nitrogen ice cream shop in Robson was so busy. We waited for 10 minutes before we got our ice cream. They use freezing cold liquid nitrogen to create deliciously creamy ice cream in seconds. The ice cream can be served in a cup or cone with a syringe load of sauce that will match your ice cream. The ice cream has very small ice crystals but smooth and creamy. $7.50 per ice cream creation for me is already expensive so make sure to savor your ice cream.
Tumblr media
Without a doubt, I ordered the Matcha Azuki! Matcha Icre cream on the cup topped with mochi, red beans and matcha ganache inside the  syringe. The matcha ganache was supposed to be drizzle on top of the ice cream creation. I end up eating and it was so good. For some reason my ice cream melted so fast or maybe it was just the weather. By the way the light sign was actually pretty cool.
Tumblr media
My friend ordered The Classic. Vanilla bean ice cream topped with honey joy, waffle preces and chocolate ganache inside the syringe. Nothing much going on in this creation. It was very simple but satisfying. The vanilla bean ice cream was so good too. don’t forget to drizzle the chocolate ganache to make it more tasty.

Fable Diner
It was my birthday week that day and one of close friend decided to take me out for dinner. Thank you my love! It was not our plan to eat here. We were just walking around East Broadway and passed by this Canadian diner. He checked the menu and thinks it is worth a try. I was really impressed when we went inside. The place is very fancy and modern diner. The diner was also busy that time but lucky that we got a good seat immediately. When our server found out that it was our first time to the diner, she explained a lot about their food and which one is good. She was actually a sweetheart.
Tumblr media
For our first fancy diner food, we ordered the korean Chicken Leg. Kimchi fried rice on the bottom of the chicken leg, bok choy, tamarind and gochujang (hot pepper paste). The presentation of the food doesn’t even look like a diner food. The chicken was soft and juicy with a touch of sweet/spicy flavor. The fried rice was packed with kimchi flavor and the bok choy they tossed it with some vinaigrette dressing to complete the dish.
Tumblr media
My friend wants to try their burger and ordered Reno Burger. Grass fed beef patty, pickles and tomato soup on the side. This was the most simple burger I have ever tried. Nothing much inside the burger but it was delicious because the flavourful patty itself is enough for this burger. Now for the tomato soup, If only I can ask for another bowl of it I probably did already. It was so creamy, delicious and with a hint of cheese. Yum!
Tumblr media
The server recommend to try their milkshake. Chocolate Peanut Butter Milkshake with Nutella Whip and topped with pretzels. It was one of the most perfect milkshake I have ever tasted. We actually fell in love with the Nutella whip that we actually eating it like an ice cream. Next time I won’t be sharing.

Denny’s
Me and my friends love to eat brunch. One time one of my friend suggested to eat brunch here at Denny’s located at Marpole. It is a very famous breakfast place and not people who need hangover food because they are open 24/7. When we came the people who works there are so energetic early morning. They gave us the menu and honestly I was overwhelm looking at it. So many choices but so little time for our tummy. I was more hungry when the aroma of the bacon was all over the place.
Tumblr media
My friend ordered T-Bone Steak and Eggs. A tendered seasoned steak served with 2 eggs, hash brown and bread. When the food was served to them I told her that she needs rice on it. C’mon we Asian people eat rice for breakfast. The portion of the steak was so huge that it was a good decision that she shared it with her boyfriend. I got the chance to taste it and it was perfectly cook.
Tumblr media
As for me, I stick with the classic. I have a huge love for egg benny. Two halves of english muffin topped with ham, poached egg and finished with cheese sauce with hash brown on the side. I was just satisfied with my food. We actually ordered one pancake just to make our brunch complete.

Momo Sushi
I always buy my green tea soft serve ice cream in Bon Crepe at Robson. Besides Bon Crepe there is a small Japanese restaurant and we always passed it by. I asked my friend to eat dinner with me and try their food. We went their Sunday night and actually it was not busy at all. Usually restaurants in Downtown is always busy on weekends. When we got our seats the server gave us miso soup and small salad. By the way when we checked the menu price, it was very reasonable. The downside they don’t have chicken karaage which I always order every time I am in a Japanese restaurant.
Tumblr media
I ordered their rainbow roll which is under their special rolls. It has cucumber, avocado, crab meat and top with assorted sashimi, masago sauce (unagi and wasabi mayo). On each side they added small amounts of assorted side dish. The presentation is like a party. A lot of thing going on but you know what it was absolutely delightful and delicious. The portion was huge so if you have a small stomach, I suggest you to share it. Two thumbs up for this roll.
Tumblr media
Since they don’t have chicken karaage, we decided to try their chicken teryaki instead. They will serve it on a hot plate and comes with one bowl of rice. We did not regret ordering this because it was really good. The chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Plus the teriyaki sauce and spices on it just made the whole dish perfect. It actually satisfied our chicken karaage craving.

Glenburn Soda Fountain Confectionary
I actually regret that I did not brought my camera that day we went here. The place was very vintage and has a strong retro vibe. On the other hand it was okay too that I didn’t brought it because it was almost closing time and they will serve your order in a to go cups. I meet a new friend and was invited to try his favorite ice cream shop. By the way I just wanna say thank you because finally I was able to try it after all the we should go and try it here with my other friend. Glenburn is located at North Burnaby Area. The people who works here also dress up into vintage cute uniform too.
Tumblr media
We decided to stick with the classic. Chocolate Hot Fudge Sundae. It kinda funny how excited I was when I saw the whipped cream instead of the ice cream. This will look more picture worthy if it was on a glass cup. Anyways they gave justice to it with the perfectly centered cherry on top. The ice cream was delicious and creamy. Chocolate hot fudge was just amazing and the ice cream melted so fast but still yummy.
Tumblr media
Then also tried their Root beer float. Pop shoppe pop topped with silk and smooth vanilla ice cream. It reminds me of Mcdonald’s Mcfloat but a more tasty version. It was very refreshing, bubbly and sweet. It was actually pretty good. A little bit pricey for a common dessert but I think the ingredients or brand they use on it what made it worth it. I might come back to try their other dessert and to take more good pictures of it. I badly want the pretty presentation. Definitely recommending it to my fellow sweet tooth.

Mink Chocolates
Tumblr media
One of my nurse friend cannot live without drinking coffee every single day. The good news is I also like coffee and we prefer iced coffee to be exact. I asked her to come with me to try their iced coffee and fondue. Mink chocolate is located in Waterfront. It was a sunny that day so the place was kind of busy. Waited for 10 minutes before we were able to find a table. Their wall is full of wonderful pictures. I actually took a picture of it but like what I said in past post my memory card was broken and erased all of my pictures. We ordered Iced Mocha. Nothing was really special about it, but for some reason we actually like it. Then for our snack, we ordered Personal Chocolate Fondue. It is 70% cacao with selection of seasonal fruits and chiffon cake. The silver serving tray made the presentation really classy. The aroma of the chocolate was so inviting and it has a silky smooth texture. The sweetness of the fruits helps subside the bitterness of the chocolate. One order of the Personal Fondue is around 12 bucks and good for sharing. Next time I might come back to try their chocolates.

The Flying Pig
Tumblr media
Me and my friend decided to eat brunch on their patio because summer is almost ending. The Flying Pig restaurant we tried was the one in Gastown. They gave us the perfect spot where sunshine shine so bright. Everything was okay except our server that time. The restaurant was not busy that time but our server for some reason is a little bit disorganized and grumpy. She forgot our water, gave us the wrong food and took time to get the menu for us. Anyways we really don’t know what really happen to her that day, but I hope she is okay now. We ordered their Country Style Breakfast and Parmesan Breaded Chicken Cutlet.
Tumblr media
The first food that was served was the Parmesan Breaded Chicken Cutlet. The plate was warm and the aroma of the cheese was so good. It comes with buttermilk mash and veggies. The chicken was not dry and the breading was flavorful and crunchy. I was hoping for gravy on it but the parmesan flavor might not be tasted anymore. I actually like it. By the way I ate the tomato.
Tumblr media
The Country Style Breakfast. Two sunny side up egg, back bacon, sausage, crisp salad and multigrain bread. A very basic breakfast that can satisfy your hunger. But if you are really hungry this plate is not for you because serving size is not as big as the other brunch restaurants offers. Price wise a little bit expensive but they have nice patio.

Kul Cup
Tumblr media
A new organic soft serve ice cream shop in Main Street caught our eyes and decided to stop by for dessert. I like the concept of serving a healthier ice cream with a touch of various toppings. Their ice cream is made from Avalon organic milk. I love their simple and minimalist decors inside the shop. We were lucky that it was not busy that time we came in. I ask the server for some recommendation and point out the one with the cantaloupe.
Tumblr media
We ordered Matcha Slim and Green Island.
Tumblr media
They call this one Green Island which I still wonder why? Just look how pretty the presentation was. A decent amount of soft serve ice cream in the middle of a half cantaloupe. They top it with toasted almonds and drizzled it with caramel sauce, It was fruity and sweet. I wish they add more caramel sauce on it. Over all it was pretty good. Me and my friend tried finishing the cantaloupe but failed.
Tumblr media
My ultimate favorite! Matcha Slim! Organic soft serve ice cream with matcha powder, condensed milk and raisins. One of the reason why I love it because of matcha powder. They generously put a large amount on it. The creamy and subtle sweetness of the ice cream blended well with the matcha powder. Price wise a little bit expensive but worth trying.

Prado Cafe
Tumblr media
Me and my friend always pass by this new coffee shop in Fraser Street. I told him how pretty the the shop was. I asked him to have brunch with me the next day. When I searched about it on the internet, I was kinda excited that they served avocado toast. I have a slight addiction with avocados. When we came in the next morning, I can already smell the strong coffee aroma. The coffee shop was pretty spacious that we were able to find a sit immediately. The ambiance is perfect for small talks with friends or read a good book and drink coffee. The barista were friendly and easily to talk with. She told me that all of their coffee is 49th Parallel which is very famous in BC. By the way I love their lights hanging from the ceiling. A little bit pricey but worth it.
Tumblr media
My friend tried the 49th Parallel cold brew. I don’t drink plain black coffee, so I ask my friend to put some cream and sugar on my cup before trying it. Taste like latte now. I took a little sip on it and it was not that bad and has a strong solid coffee flavor.
Tumblr media
Then he ordered Waffles with banana and Nutella on the side. Every food becomes a star when there is a Nutella. No need to complain about it :) The waffle was actually yummy. It has a crispy texture on the outside my soft on the inside.
Tumblr media
As for my coffee, I ordered Macchiato. Latte art on point and so pretty to think Macchiato is always served in a small cup. A little bit bitter with a subtle sweetness.
Tumblr media
Then I tried their Prado Breakfast. Avocado Mash, Aragula, Poached Egg and Balsamic Vinegar on top of the toast. This toast actually kept me full the rest of the morning. I love how it look so plain but it actually taste so good. Make sure to poke the poached egg and let the yolk drizzle on your toast. Trust me you won’t regret it.

Pho Extreme Xe Lua Restaurant
Tumblr media
Whenever we go out late and still need to eat dinner, we always come here. Since it is a 24 hours restaurant people always come and go. Especially on Fridays and Saturdays because people always go out or maybe need some hang over food. The only thing I don’t like about this place is the slow service. The first thing we always order here is the spring roll. I personally love it! The very crunchy skin on the outside and flavorful on the inside. Me and my friends even fight about on who’s gonna finish the last piece. Then I ordered the Grilled Chicken Vermicelli. The chicken was not over cook and dry. I always pour all the fish sauce on the vermicelli and add a little hot sauce then mix it all together. I know it’s weird but yummy for me. My friend who is a soup fan ordered Steak Brisket Pho. If you want your meat to be completely cooked just let it stay first on the hot soup before eating. I find the soup a little bit salty but not bad at all. So if you want to grab some late night food you can try dinning here located at Broadway.

Forty Ninth Parallel Cafe & Lucky's Doughnuts
Tumblr media
One of my favorite cafe in the city. From the people who works here, the ambiance and of course their coffee. Unfortunately that day I had drank coffee already and my rule is one cup of coffee a day only. So my drink I ordered Jasmine Pearl tea. A sweet and intense floral flavor, silky body with a clean finish. It was actually very soothing too. I love how they put their cute teapot and mug on a wooden board. It actually looks very fancy.
Tumblr media
For some reason I don’t know why I don’t eat donuts. Sorry Homer Simpson! When I was looking at their donuts, I saw a matcha flavor. I told my friend and beg him to please buy that one instead of the chocolate. Of course he couldn’t resist my charm (actually he was just annoyed). The doughnut is called Matcha Bismarck. It is a matcha brioche filled with white chocolate/matcha pastry cream and topped with yuzu glazed. My friend got mad at me for only eating the filling and he end up eating the doughnut. the filling was so good! It’s like Nutella but in matcha flavor. The doughnut is very moist and not dry. I will recommend this to people who loves to have a good coffee. Located at Main Steert.
