There has been MAJOR buzz lately about the new contact lenses that can capture video! These lenses can record and play back video and is all controlled by the blink of an eye. Astounding. Think of all the doors this technology will open. People will be able to rewatch the memories they once made right before their very eyes. Criminals will have a much harder time hiding from authorities. People will be held accountable for their actions more. Maybe this is the key to a better society. One in which people will have less of a choice to do the "right" thing and just start doing it, because you'll never know who's watching. The patent for this product started in 2014 but should become available in the near future.. #stamforddmd, #shewantsthedmd

I understand this rough situation from each side. But I have to side with Apple. They are simply doing their job. I am sure that they too understand the fathers concerns however giving him that access would go against their business ethics. And due to the fact that it is not too hard to hack an iPhone, I think it makes the situation a little less tough. Like it states, hackers have reached out to the dad to help him for free. And as funny as it may sound, I think that's a really nice thing.
Grieving father optimistic he can crack his dead son's iPhone
Father of 13 year old Dama who passed away last year is still trying to access his son’s passcode protected iPhone 6. He originally emailed Apple begging to access his son’s phone to see photos and videos and his last conversations. Apple rejects doing anything about the phone due to their privacy policy, but Cellebrite, a phone hacker, has reached out to Mr.Fabbretti to unlock the iPhone for free.
Do you think Apple should rethink its privacy policy? Or do you believe they handled the situation properly?

I’m really happy that I came across this article because I’ve been considering getting Venmo (I know, I’m late) and didn’t understand how it works completely. More and more people are opting to make payments through their mobile device. You need to be extremely cautious though that you don’t get scammed. I personally would only use it between people I know. The app has also been under fire since people have used it to partake in illegal activity such as the sale of drugs. Like the article states, read all the terms and agreements - something we don’t often do but should.

this all comes down to consumerism. society dictates to us daily what is “right” and what is “wrong”, what is “in” and what is “out”. when i see people with flip phones, i personally feel envy towards them, because i wish i could go back to simpler times, but i don’t have a flip phone because it doesn’t do the things i need/want for my career/social life.
Why do we keep changing the size of phones in today’s world? We started with brick sized cellphones, then cellphones that can fit in a closed fist, then tablet sized smartphones, and now we are going back. Why not just invest in a phone where you can change the size of the screen or project on something bigger if need. Why do we need the newest gadget? Not to point anyone out when I would be the first to get the newest iPhone every time one releases. But why do we have that need? Is it a competition or do we really need these new phones to work better. I feel that as long as the phone meets the requirements of the time and I’m not at a disadvantage I am content. If that’s means buying every year a new smartphone just to keep up that is fine by me. I also feel like society makes u feel bad if ur are not up to date. Like even I will look at someone if they have a phone that is more than 3 years old and say that is weird. But why do we everyday people do this is why I thought this was so interesting that we change so much but sometimes we just go back instead of forwards.

The age of [:] )
The Oculus Rift is here! For me, this raises some excitement and concerns, mostly excitement. I never really thought about playing with VR as a kid, but I’d sure love to as an adult. The downside here is you need a PC to use one of these. Which means I won’t be purchasing one of these headsets anytime soon. Another controversy to the Rift and like-technogoly is the possibility of encouraging isolation. Clearly it’s something to be used by individuals. However, the Rift gives the opportunity to display on a screen what the individual is seeing, so that others can watch what is going on. This is a literal game-changer. Growing up, I was a Nintendo kid. I would absolutely love to put on the Rift and be Princess Daisy (because she’s so much better than Peach) in Mario Party, having to actually jump up and punch the dice that decide how many steps forward I take. I am eager to see how mainstream VR becomes and watch as it becomes available more and more.

Delivery was one of the best inventions, ever. Sadly, it is not offered by all restaurants. Uber Eats has finally launched in a few cities throughout the country and I anticipate it’s integration to everywhere else. It’s basically a delivery service from any local restaurant, by Uber drivers. This business idea is nothing new, but the ones that already exist have not garnered much success. I personally think the outcome will be much different for Uber Eats; this is because Uber has thousands of drivers and unlike the other similar businesses, they probably won’t run short of deliverers. All you have to do is download the app, pick what you want, and keep an eye out the window for your food. Just think about it: McDonald’s, Starbucks, Panera Bread, even the local diner, straight to your front door. I can’t wait! If you’re ever too tired, sick, or intoxicated to pick yourself up a bite to eat, this service will be a life saver!

Technology will not save the world on it’s own. But mix it with love, compassion, and innovation, and it’ll get you much farther. It is not easy to feed and shelter the needy, in fact, that is probably more complicated than simply giving cell phones to them with texting/internet services. Giving refugees the ability to text opens many doors for them, such connecting them with potential employers. Textfugees is truly making a difference, “For example, ‘texts can be reminders for medical or legal appointments,’ Mesnard said, adding that the texts can be sent in up to 40 languages”. This mission will not solve the refugee crisis or mass starvation, but every. little. thing. helps. This effort can be the one stepping stone that helps a mother get on her feet again and for that reason, it is worth it. If this can help one child or family out, then I see it as a success.

I absolutely agree with Matt. The “parenting” styles I see sometimes disgust me, when a mom or dad tosses their child a tablet to appease them. It is sad. I remember sitting in the backseat of my parents car when going on long trips. I’d stare out the window and observe everything - the sun following us, rain drops rolling down, or other cars. As I got older I would listen to my own music and then later I was lucky enough to watch a DVD sometimes. So many of these kids who are attached to mobile devices cannot sit through a car ride without a smartphone or iPad. I know a young mother who would put an iPad in her baby’s crib every time he cried. I see a shared belief amongst our generation about these practices and I hope that when most of us have children, our beliefs remain and we implement the desired behavior we seek out in current parents.
Randomly came across this! It’s a very intruiging article about a mom putting her phone down while watching her kids, and coming to the realization that her kids would have thought the world wide web was more important than them 28 times. She measured this by the amount of times the kids looked up at her.

They make an interesting point here, but I’d have to agree with you that it is not necessarily the responsibility of the leaders. All businesses rely on technology and all emerging businesses today need social media to boost them. The leaders of these businesses do not have to embrace the social media or tech required to succeed, they can just hire people (me!!!) to do it for them. However, if they don’t have a single person do that job and think they will be just fine without it, chances of them making it are small; most people with that mindset are from gen. x and too old for start-ups anyway. This means the majority of us are more than just willing to embrace new technology, we’re eager about it!
Forbes released an interesting article about what it takes to create a culture that embraces advances in technology and is excited in interpreting it into every day life. Although the article focuses on how companies can do this, it speaks volumes about our attitude towards technology as a whole. The article talks about how as a leader, you must embrace technology yourself in order to have your employees be on board. However, I’m not so sure this is the case these days, or at least not for all scenarios. I think these days, since technology is advancing so rapidly and so frequently, and since we expect it so much, we almost don’t have a choice but to embrace it. I think that’s mostly due to the fact that we’ve developed a lot of trust towards companies like Apple and Google and Microsoft since they’ve consistently been innovating technology positively and effectively. Even if new technology is released, and is a complete failure, we know that it will either be fixed or replaced by something better in a short amount of time. I think out current behavior is extremely optimistic towards technology, and the transitions between the old and the new are becoming more and more seamless. Especially now that we have seen what we are capable of and what the possibilities are, we look forward to new technology with open arms. This may or may not be dangerous. For example, the other night I was watching a British show on Netflix called “Black Mirror” (which I highly recommend because it’s FANTASTIC). One of the episodes featured a society in which most people had biotechnology that allowed them to rewind and replay the images they’ve seen their whole lives in first person. They can also share their memories on screen with other people. At the beginning of the episode, the technology seems so useful and revolutionary. Nearly everyone in this society has this ability. They only see the positives, but the episode essentially about how dangerous this tech that everyone has can be (I won’t spoil anything because you should absolutely watch it).

I have a vague memory of that happening with the app store back in the day (lol, back in the day....we’re old now). I agree though, I would be APPrehensive about what is or is not safe
How Google Play could fix the frustrating, impenetrable Chinese mobile gaming market - VentureBeat
To think I only have to worry about one store imagine having to deal with 200-400 of them. How would you know what is a legit app, some scam on their store, or something that could damage my device. Still remember the first few years of the Apple Store having problems but we are at a time where this shouldn’t be happening.

I think this is really cool. I really like how you distinguish between sci-fi and fantasy because I can see how the two are easily confused or blended.
I consider myself, quite the science nerd. I’ve always been drawn to the realm of science fiction. I think what makes me love the genre so much is that unlike fantasy, science fiction represents what the future of the human race could be. While some Sci-Fi shows are more grounded in science than others, the one science fiction series I appreciate most would be Star Trek. Star Trek represents the most hopeful and appealing idea of the future. Not only have the future technologies that appeared in the television shows actually become reality, but Star Trek shows a future without poverty, greed, violence, or discrimination. The science behind “warp speed” is so so early, and scientists still argue whether its possible at all. However, I am extremely hopeful we will achieve the ability for interstellar travel, one way or another.
