In the audience, a tense silence settled. Students like Briar Beauty, eager to fulfill her fate of sleeping for a hundred years, nodded fervently. Others, like Madeline Hatter, with a mischievous sparkle in her eyes, seemed to revel in the pomp of the situation. But in a darker corner, Raven Queen clenched her fists.

Raven, the daughter of the Evil Queen, was the antithesis of Apple. Condemned to be the villain, the poisoner, the eternal antagonist, she bore the weight of a destiny she did not choose. Apple's speech sounded like an affront to her—a slap in the face to all those whose "happily ever afters" were, in truth, sentences of suffering.

When Apple finished, cheered on by a throng of fervent "Royals," Raven could no longer contain herself. She stood up, her shadow ominously cast over the applause.

"Excuse me, Apple," she began, her voice laden with dark intensity. "You speak so easily about following destiny, but have you ever stopped to think about those who do not want the fate imposed upon them? Those whose happy endings are another's downfall?"

Apple furrowed her brow, perplexity clouding her angelic features. "Raven, we cannot change our tales! It's the natural order of things. If you do not fulfill your role, what will happen to mine?"

"And what if I don’t want to be the villain in your story?" Raven shot back, her voice rising. "What if I want to write my own ending? Why is my destiny less important than yours? Why am I forced to be evil so that you can be happy?"

The hall fell silent. Raven's boldness was unprecedented—a direct challenge to the structure of their world. Apple, used to adoration and agreement, seemed at a loss for words.

"You are being selfish, Raven!" Apple accused finally regaining her composure. "You are putting your desires above the greater good! If you rebel, our entire world will collapse!"

"And what if our world needs to collapse?" Raven replied with a bitter smile. "What if the only way to find true happiness is to break free from destiny’s chains? Perhaps, Apple, the true fairy tale is having the freedom to choose who you want to be and not who others expect you to be."

With those words, Raven Queen turned her back on Apple White and on the empty promise of a predetermined destiny. The seed of doubt had been planted, and Ever After High’s once-certain future was now a blank page waiting to be written.
