Yeah ok fine I have to admit to myself and the internet at large that I'm into amputees and amputation. Both in the sense that I think it's hot when people are missing limbs and that I think if someone cut off my arm it would be sexy.

Going out of town for a bit, kind of horny, still haven't gotten around to the ovi stuff so I thought I'd rearrange some furniture so I can get frisky in my favored position and also put like 60% of my gear on.
Fam, I don't think I can pretend in my mind that I'm a normie pretending to be a pervert to blend in with the internet freaks. Fam, I think maybe normies don't basically cry after cumming with a respirator and a tactical vest on. I think I may genuinely be a pervert.

any tips and tricks for knifeplay? or in general, i am but a humble beginner, and want to stay safe and become skilled at exhibiting terrifying and threatening behaviour.
Hello, stranger! I'm honored you would ask!
So, I've been doing knifeplay and fearplay in a kink context for like...15 years (yikes!) but I do not cut people as part of my typical practice (which I am calling that because I think it's funny). This is not to say one cannot do that, and I am saying it with no judgment at all, but I do want to mention it off the bat so that you know that if you're looking for advice on cutting and bloodplay you'd be best served going to someone else.
Anyway, knives. I'm going to give you a list with some key advice (under the cut, because I got pretty chatty here). There's always more to learn! But these are the things that I think are most important to starting out.
The best place to start is to sort out what your goal is with bringing in a blade. What do you want to feel? What does your bottom want to feel? What do you want them to feel? This will help a lot as far as structuring your scene. I find that knives are most successfully used for sensation and fear (and judging by your question, I think you're most interested in fear).
This may seem counterintuitive, but a sharp knife is always going to be safer than a dull one. (Less true of intentionally dulled blades, such as prop weapons, as long as they're smooth.) With a sharp blade, you won't have unexpected chips or nicks or sticking out bits along the edge, which means you have better control. And the name of the game here is control.
Before I put a blade on anyone else, I always put it on myself. I find this helps because I can compare the force and motion of my knife hand to what I am feeling on my skin. I think this is a large part of why I have never, in 15 years, cut another human being unintentionally. I do this with every new blade I use. Sometimes when I try one on me, I'll decide it's a bad play knife and won't use it on a bottom. It happens! My favorite play knives currently are a hunting knife I got from Etsy ages ago (lovingly depicted in the art in my pfp) and a linoleum knife that I got at Home Depot for like $10. Really, you can use whatever if you're sure of its edge and can be in control of the entire thing the entire time.
You can apply pressure, or you can move the blade, but if you do both at once you are considerably more likely to cut someone.
It is generally a good idea to have a bit of a working awareness of the circulatory system. This has two benefits. First of all, for the sake of safety, knowing where there are major arteries and veins can help protect the person you're playing with. Secondly, if you have a blade on someone's femoral artery, you can tell them this if you want. They might not even know how fast you could have them dead with a flick of your wrists. (This is where fearplay comes in.)
Different body parts have different skin textures. I suggest feeling an area with your hand first before you put a blade there. If you're putting a blade anywhere with looser or more flexible skin than like the broader flatter areas (e.g. of flat areas can be chest, upper arms/thighs, back) then it can be helpful to use your free hand to smooth things out and hold things still. I find that, for the most part, people bottoming for knife play don't have much trouble holding still when there is a blade on them, but if there's squirming, you can advise them of the safety concerns. ("Hold still, sweetheart, this is very sharp" or "Steady, now, I don't want to cut your throat by mistake" are useful phrase concepts, if you're trying to scare someone into safety.)
On the matter of holding still, pay at least a little attention to your partner's breathing. This might sound odd, but I've noticed some people I play with hold their breath when the blade is near their throat or face. This is fine, but a sudden, sharp gasp could make them move unpredictably. Make sure they have time to breathe. (Not everyone has this issue.)
Make sure you can see the blade at all times. Doing knifeplay requires a high level of attention in order to do it safely. I love it because it feels like the whole world melts away until all that's left is me, the blade, and the victim. But it does take a level of mental stamina to do this for any length of time. If you feel yourself getting tired or your attention wavering, this is something to be aware of. When I feel this happening to me I will often end the scene.
When you set a knife down, make sure you know exactly where it is, make sure the blade is secure (if there is a sheath or case, use it!) and that it's not anywhere anyone could accidentally lean, lie, or sit on it. Even if you're just setting it down for a second. Always know exactly where it is, and ideally make sure your partner does too.
A little bit of info on fearplay:
Yes, putting a knife on someone can be intrinsically scary. But if you want to heighten that, there are a lot of ways to do this! I find most of them are verbal. If you read or watch slashers at all, there are some fun dialogue hints in there. Sometimes, though, it can be fun to lean entirely the other way. I've had pretty good luck with, as outlined above, warning against certain actions that might be dangerous ("Careful, I don't want to accidentally bleed you out" etc).
Definitely something to check on yourself first, but you can typically press a lot harder with the back of the blade than the edge, and if this is done somewhere they can't see easily, it can be very alarming. (Make sure to hold them still!)
A lot of fearplay also boils down to the way you look at someone, which can depend on what vibe you're trying to convey. (A steely, callous look? A hungry one?)
Tell them how much you want to hurt them. Be specific. Even if you aren't going to (which I hope you aren't!) this is a place where honest is the scariest thing you can be. I find that even people who don't get scared easily in kink contexts get afraid of me because of my naked and unembellished desire to destroy their bodies. They know I won't harm them, but they also know I really, really want to, and a lot of times that's enough to kick them right into prey mode.
I hope some of that was helpful! Please let me know if you have any questions, or want me to elaborate on any of this. I love talking about it and would do it all day if they'd let me.

starting a new conspiracy called Big Furry that has nothing to do with furries controlling politics or socioeconomics it's about the way 75% of monsterfucker content is actually about Big Furries. Werewolf? big furry. Mothman? big furry. Reptilian alien beefcake? big furry. Dragon shifter who still has horns and wings and a tail in human form? Well I guess that's technically Big Kemonomimi but I'll include it

You can turn out the lights and when you return, the too-bright light in the hallway making your looming figure a blurry silhouette I can't see, you should let out a dark, smug little chuckle and then leave me for a even longer, alone and cold and damp and wondering what the fuck you're going to do to me next.
I need someone to tie me up, splash me with water, and leave me on the cold cold tile of their bathroom for a few hours to stew.

But that doesn't feel like mad science you know? That feels like an extension of the military kink specifically geared towards super soldiers and how they're hot.

On that note I DO have a hybrid chimera guy lurking somewhere in my headspace that's sort of an unethical mad science thing where his group of mercenaries made some agreement with this scientist women for power and she immediately just started vivisecting them and combing them with animal parts in awful human/animal mutant hybrids. She was like "oh you thought this piece of paper we signed and a handshake would stop me from doing unethical science to you?? Did you forget that the reason I am sequestered away from society is because I did unethical science and am now no longer able to practice anything even remotely medical in civilized society?? Oh, you thought maybe your position of power and the fact that you're a threat and barely helpful to me would keep me from doing this??? Well you were wrong. There's no IRB here. You're better as parts. Now shut up and wear this collar so I can track your movements in the jungle. Would you say there's been a significant performance increase now that I've stuck your head on a bioengineered animal body? Or does the lack of proper thumbs bother you too much? I expect you to tell me after you go down on me later. "
But it's got the "military guy getting femdom'd" slime aaaaall over it. Like real thick. A solid layer of ooze that you can't rub off. It's just the thing lately. Can't keep it out of my little headspace fantasy stories completely. Fandom poison. The yuck (yum).
Considering the amount of fantasies I had as a young critter about being a Secret Lab Experiment it's a fucking shocker that I'm not really into mad scientist stuff as an adult. All young Dirge ever wanted to be was an escaped lab experiment in a dark alley in the rain as someone tried to bond with my wounded feral nature (since all I could remember was the cage, you see).
