I don't think they are waiting to see if she pulls through anymore. I think we're all on the same page as to what she wants, and they've got her on morphine now, so hopefully, it won't take too long for her to be free of her suffering.

Entire family called to ICU this morning because they think my eldest aunt might die (she has been very seriously ill for a long time, but she keeps hanging in there). Despite many false alarms we have never been called in like that so we all took it seriously. We had a family meeting with the senior doctor on duty who said they keep treating one issue, and then another issue arises, and it's not appropriate for ICU to keep treating her when she won't improve. For sure, we get it, we are relieved someone has made a call. They are discharging her to a ward bed and basically seeing what happens/whether she pulls through. She has asked them to end her life, and we've been advised it's not legal (I keep hearing about people dying through euthanasia though, I'm confused, it obviously IS legal). Whether she survives is very up in the air. I feel like the hospital wanted us to prepare for her to pass away, but we have been prepared for at least the last 2 years. Unless she is DEFINITELY going to die? Don't do this shit. My alienated aunt who is very untreated mentally ill is making her inability to handle the situation everyone else's problem, my youngest aunt who is the one who does most of the care has been sobbing, my eldest uncle left my aunt a very distressed voice memo telling her he loves her and he was crying so hard he could hardly speak. She doesn't want to keep doing it, we don't want to keep doing it, she has had enough.
