This week, Women Without Roofs lost one of its most beloved ladies. Dolma Ama was quite possibly one of the most smiley and sweet-tempered women I have ever met. Cheesy though it may sound, there will be more #smiles in heaven from now on.

I returned from my whirlwind trip to stunning #Lahore in #Punjab just last week and haven’t been able to think about much else since. #Pakistan and its people have enthralled me. I was incredibly fortunate to meet with people working at every level of society to improve the lives of #Christian women there.

WWR is 20 years Old!
It feels extraordinary, but WWR is 20 years old! I can't quite believe it. Working with incredible staff and #trustees to change the lives of vulnerable women in #Nepal has been a privilege and joy. We thank God for his faithfulness.

Our Sisters ... are betwixt and between
I have a sadistic Belgian Pilates teacher who loves to put those of us in her classes in stress positions and then make us lift weights. The situation with my book, Our Sisters, feels similar. I’m writing to you while stretched taut between the writing and the revealing. In the meantime, I am going to Pakistan.

Whoever thinks Pilates is easy hasn’t been to a class in Belgium. The situation with my book, Our Sisters, feels similar. I’m writing to you while stretched taut between the writing and the revealing. I have so many incredible stories to share, but although…

It's behind you
I look rather nervous because behind me are all kinds of snakes and spiders in specimen jars.
It was World Leprosy Day on Sunday, and the post I wrote then somehow didn’t appear anywhere. So, I am catching up today. Many of the women I wrote about in Come With Me to Kathmandu have been affected by leprosy, either having contracted it themselves or through losing loved ones to the disease. The photo is of me visiting Lalgadh Leprosy Hospital and meeting the fantastic doctors there who do…

Could it get any worse?
A gathering with Jesus, filled with mixed emotions, arguments, and a foreboding sense of change.
We arrived, all 12 of us buzzing. We’d seen crowds applaud Jesus as he rode on a donkey, and we were so glad he was finally getting the praise and adoration he deserved. We thought revolution might be on the way, and each of us was eager to find out what Jesus was planning to do next. No sooner had we got to the dining room than an argument broke out. Jesus, our host, sat at one end of a long…

Heirs of His Absence
Sometimes, #faith comes the long way; it isn’t always quick and sudden and, it doesn’t always hinge on a single #revelation. We aren’t the first to ask where #God is or question his existence. We are, as the title says, heirs of His absence.
God has been missing for a long time. At least, it seems that way, and I get the struggle. Where is he when the world hurts and people are suffering? Unbearably so, and from generation to generation. Did he set the earth spinning before vanishing? Was he even there to begin with? Sometimes, faith comes the long way; it isn’t always quick and sudden and, it doesn’t always hinge on a single…

Have you seen this?
I’m aware there’s a fight for my eyeballs; all those posts that scream ‘look at me’. So, this year, I want to do better.
I’m aware there’s a fight for my eyeballs; all those posts that scream ‘look at me’. So, this year, I want to do better. Steal my glances away from what causes brain rot and pay attention to a better world. Maybe then I’ll have time to pray for a better world. God, can you help me? I will give my sight to that which illuminates, inspires, magnifies and rouses. I’ll read what edifies, share what…

Our Sisters ... are surrounded by light
Whenever I stare into the abyss of #suffering, whether it is through interviews for my books, in my community or on the news, there are always points of #light. #fireflies #NewYearHope #NewYearPrayer
Well, I was right. After submitting what I thought was my completed manuscript to my publisher in September, I was asked to add more chapters. Although I felt disappointed at first, this advice was spot-on, and it was so helpful to have their feedback. I had got lost in the activism aspect of the book and taken my eyes off the main stories, which are those of survivors of abduction and forced…

Double time
It's #GivingTuesday, and the #ChristmasChallenge is on!
Dear All, We can’t believe it’s Advent already, and 2024 is drawing to a close. The last few months have been hectic for WWR and our staff. In October, we were forced to find a new property to rent for Glory House (Mahima Griha), so some of our ladies are now living in a new home. I’ll bring you up to date with everything that has occurred in our newsletter (the link is below). However, if you…

Today, WWR is launching an appeal for funds to help us overcome the devastation wreaked by last week’s floods. Annie explains more in this video, and you’ll see the enormous mess that our staff and women have cleaned up. They are incredible, and we’re so thankful for all their hard work. Thankfully, we have already found a new home on higher ground to move into, as we can’t risk more flooding…

Please pray for Shagufta
Yet another woman has been sentenced to death in #Pakistan for #blasphemy. It is terrible; all #Shagufta did was forward a WhatsApp message that she probably didn’t understand. Please, please #pray for her; she has four children who need her.
Yet another woman has been sentenced to death in Pakistan for blasphemy. It is terrible; all Shagufta did was forward a WhatsApp message that she probably didn’t understand. Please, please pray for her; she has four children who need her. I was honoured to interview a Pakistani Christian woman who had spent time on ‘death row’ for alleged blasphemy as part of my next book (which I completed last…

PATCHLife - A military wife perspective
Yesterday, it was a privilege to be interviewed for this #podcast about being a #militaryspouse. Sacrifices are made as an #Armywife, particularly saying goodbye to friends, but I'm thankful God has used me in the places he's taken me to.
Yesterday, it was a privilege to be interviewed for this podcast about being a military spouse. I am so grateful to God for leading me to become an Army wife. It has allowed me to travel, meet so many incredible people, and set up the charity Women Without Roofs—Nepal, which has been life-changing for me. It was fun chatting with Boo, the shows’s creator and host, and we bonded over our…
