More Disney Theories
The movie Toy Story came out in 1995 and many people fell in love with all Andy’s toys. The film was so successful that they continues making sequels and the fourth film is set to come out in the summer of 2019. In the second Toy Story film, we meet Jessie, a cowgirl who is currently owned by Al from Al’s Toy Barn. We learn that she used to have an owner named Emily, but she was left behind one day and forgotten. Some Disney fans think that Andy’s mom was Emily(the girl who previously owned Jessie and left her). In the first Toy Story film, we see Andy wearing a red hat that looks identical to the one that Emily was wearing in the second film as she played with Jessie. How would Andy have gotten the hat if he didn't receive it from his mother. It would be very coincidental if Andy just happened to have to same hat as Emily and own one of her childhood toys if Emily was not related to him. We get to see Emily’s room in Toy Story 2. Based on the décor and wall decorations, we can tell that Jessie was abandoned years before the events of the first film. The posters on the wall indicate that Emily owned Jessie in the 60s or 70s, so we can tell that Emily is definitely old enough to be Andy’s mother.

The next theory deals with a less popular film. The Emperor’s New Groove was released in 2000. In this film, Kuzco is tuned into a llama. He retains his ability to speak because he used to be human. Throughout the film, we learn that the animals can only talk if they used to be human. In one scene, we see a fly being eaten by a spider. Right before he is about to be consumed, the fly screams for help. This means that they fly that was eaten was actually a human that was just murdered.

Little Mermaid Theories
When watching Disney movies, viewers aren't usually focused on economic issues. One theory pertaining to The Little Mermaid, claims that Ariel ruined the economy of Prince Eric’s kingdom. His kingdom relies heavily on fishing and ocean life. In the song Les Poisson, chef Louis is trying to kill Sebastian and make a seafood dish. Since Ariel is friends with Sebastian, Flounder, and most of the creatures living in the sea, it isnt likely that she will want the kingdom to continue killing her friends. Since he lives in and rules a coastal kingdom, halting fishing will harm the economy, fishermen will be out of jobs and everybody will need to find a new main food source.
Tumblr media
A different theory states that Ariel and Hercules are related. Not only are they both red heads, they are related through the lineage in greek mythology. Hercules is the son of Zeus, the god of thunder. Ariel is the daughter of King Triton. Triton’s father is Poseidon, king of the seas. Poseidon is Zeus’s brother. This would make Hercules and Triton cousins. The offspring of your cousin is your first cousin once removed. Therefore Hercules and Ariel are first cousins once removed.
Tumblr media
Some people have watched The Little Mermaid and noticed that Ariel’s sisters look nothing like her. In fact, they look nothing like each other either. Since the lower half of mermaids are anatomically similar to fish, it is likely that they reproduce the way that fish do and not the way that humans do. Fish reproduction occurs when females lay many eggs and a male fish finds eggs and fertilizes them. If Triton fertilized eggs from many different female mermaids, it would explain why Ariel’s sisters dont look like each other, they all have different mothers and are therefore only half siblings.

Dark Disney Theories
Peter Pan is  Disney classic. It follows the story of the Darling children as they travel to Neverland with Peter Pan and go on adventures. Though the film seems like a joyful one, there is a theory that says that Peter Pan is an angel bringing the children to the afterlife. Firstly, Peter tries to convince them to follow him to Neverland, a place here they will never grow old. He also takes them there by going to the second star on the right. This could be symbolic of the children “rising into the afterlife”. It also explains why the children who go there never grow up. Dead people can't grow old.
Tumblr media
Another theory about death deals with the character Carl Frederiksen from Up. The theory states that Carl died in his sleep after he found out that he had to move. His house rising up into the sky symbolized him rising into the afterlife. The boy that travels with Carl is actually his guardian angel. Carl is trying to earn his wings (boy scout badges) by helping Carl travel into the afterlife. Russell appears to Carl as a little boy because Carl and Ellie were unable to have children. In the end, Carl reaches Paradise Falls which is his version of “Heaven” and lets go of the world of the living as he loses his house.
Tumblr media
The movie Wall-e came out in 2008. In this film, the people who used to inhabit Earth are now living in space. They are all obese and only drink liquid food. These people were only expected to be in space for 5 years, but they have been there for 700. How is it possible that they have had enough extra food that people could stay on the ship an extra 695 years? They are eating each other. As the people die, they have nowhere to store the bodies since they are on a spaceship. In addition, obesity is not caused by lack of activity. Although it is a contributing factor, the main factor of weight gain is excessive calorie intake. Since all the people in space are obese, if someone was to consume the bodies there would be a lot of fat, which is a lot of calories. This explains why everybody is fat and how the ship has had a stable food supply for 695 years.

Nemo was dead the entire time(theory)
In 2003, Disney released their animated film, Nemo. This film starts off with a sad scene. Marlin (Nemo’s dad) and Coral(Nemo’s mom) are looking at all their fish eggs when suddenly a barracuda comes, kills Coral and eats all of the developing fish eggs. The film then goes forward in time until Nemo is ready to begin school. Nemo decided to be rebellious and try and touch  a boat which results in him being captured and taken to a dentist’s office in Sydney, Australia. Marlin then follows Nemo all the way across the ocean and saves him. However, there is a theory that states that the plot of Nemo never actually happened, and Marlin is just experiencing the stages of grief after his family was murdered and Nemo has been dead since the beginning. In latin, the word Nemo means “no man” or “no one”.
Tumblr media
This theory is supported by looking at the different stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, despair, acceptance. Marlin demonstrates denial when he doesn't want Nemo to go to school. He claims that it isn't a safe environment and wants to keep his son protected. The second stage is anger. Marlin often yells at Nemo for disobeying and trying to branch off on his own. The third stage is bargaining. This is shown when Marlin meets Dory. It is obvious that he is annoyed by her and doesn't want to travel with her, but compromises and lets her tag along. The fourth stage is despair. Marlin experiences this when Nemo has been flushed down the drain in the office. The sixth and final stage is acceptance. At the end of the film, Marlin realises that he needs to let Nemo do his own thing and accepts that he can't protect Nemo forever.
Tumblr media
In addition, Australia is known as the “Down Under” which can be an allusion to the underworld. Throughout the film, many characters tell Marlin that he has to let go of Nemo and the film ends with Nemo swimming into the void.

Aladdin takes place in the future(theory)
When watching the Disney film, Aladdin, most viewers assume that the setting is either the past or some sort of fantasy world. However, a theory has emerged that argues Aladdin takes place in the future. Most of the proof for this theory comes from lines that the Genie says. For example, in the final scene of Aladdin, Genie exclaims that he is going to Disney World. Disney wasn't built until the 20th century, therefore it wouldn't have existed in the middle east hundreds of years ago. In addition, when Genie emerges from the lamp he tells Aladdin that he has been in the lamp for ten thousand years. Later he comments on Aladdin’s clothes and say that they are so third century. If Genie was around during the third century and was in the lamp for ten thousand years, the year would have to be at least 10200.
Tumblr media
Another argument in support of this theory has to deal with Aladdin’s companion Carpet (a flying carpet). According to the theory, Carpet is leftover hover technology from the old world. You may be wondering why this world  seems so technologically behind us if it takes place many centuries into the future. The answer is nuclear bombs. Bombs were dropped at some point in the past which resulted the entire Earth defaulting to desert like conditions. In the film, Jafar’s bird, Iago, speaks. This can be explained by mutations from nuclear radiation. Not all animals in this future are able to speak and communicate. Abu and Raja are proof of this. Although it was rare, some animals mutated and were able to speak, they then passed down their mutations to their offspring. Also, Iago is a parrot and that species of bird were able to mimic words in present day. This may explain why only the parrot can speak and not the tiger or monkey. It's possible that since parrots were already able to form words, the mutation affected them differently.

Infinity War (spoilers)
Tumblr media
When people view Marvel movies, they come expect to see action and super heroes. Audiences do not expect to see many emotional scenes, Marvel movies are usually fun and upbeat. The stakes never seem that high because it is excepted that the heroes will prevail and defeat the villain. Avengers: Infinity War raised the stakes from the very beginning of the film. The film opens with Thanos (the villain) asking Loki for the tesseract as he threatens to kill Thor.   Thor is arguably one of the most powerful Avengers, and to see him get defeated shows how powerful Thanos and hid Dark Order are. Thanos also defeats Hulk in the same scene, and he destroys all the Asgardians on the ship. This is a great opening to this film because it shows how much power the villain has. The opening scene also shows two likeable characters being killed, which tells the viewer that none of their favorite characters are safe.
Tumblr media
Marvel movies are not known for how great their endings are. A few Marvel movies had exciting endings, but it usually ends with the heroes defeating the villain. Not Infinity War. The premise of Infinity War is that Thanos wants to obtain all the Infinity Stones so that he can wipe out half of the world’s population. In the end of the film, the Avengers try desperately to stop Thanos but he defeats all of them. Finally, Thor throws his axe at Thanos but he is still able to snap his fingers, triggering the destruction of half the population. As the film ends, we see many characters turn to dust. Spiderman, Bucky, Black Panther, Starlord, Groot, Mantis, Drax, and  Scarlet Witch all disintegrate. Most people wanted to see Infinity War to see all of the characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe join forced to defeat Thanos, who has been featured in after credits scenes since 2012. Many viewers didn’t expect to see the death and disappearance of half of the Superheroes.

Proof that some Disney movies are connected
Most people have heard of the Pixar Theory, but not as many people have heard about the theories connecting Disney films. There are multiple theories about characters from separate Disney films being related. One theory is that the King and Queen of Arendelle knew the characters from Tangled. In Frozen, it is stated that Anna and Elsa’s parents died in a shipwreck. There is speculation that the King and Queen of Arendelle were on their way to Flynn and Rapunzel’s wedding. Flynn and Rapunzel can be seen at Elsa’s coronation in the film, Frozen. Many think that they went to the coronation because they felt bad that Elsa’s parents died in route to their wedding.
Tumblr media
Another theory states that Tarzan is Anna and Elsa’s bother. This theory states that when the ship wrecked, Anna and Elsa’s parents didn’t die immediately. They look very similar to the family seen in the film Tarzan. Many believe that they are the same couple. Tarzan was born in Africa after the ship crashed and left the King and Queen stranded with no way to return home. We learn that Tarzan’s parents die in an animal attack but Anna and Elsa weren't aware that their family lived past the initial wreck. There is also speculation that the ship that Ariel explores in the Little Mermaid is the ship the ship from Arendelle that sank.
Tumblr media
In addition, Tarzan and Beauty and the Beast are believed to be connected. The theory states that the Duke of Weselton from Frozen was the child of Belle and Prince Adam from Beauty and the Beast. People see similarities between the Duke of Weselton and Maurice, Belle’s father. They believe that Belle and the beast fled France during the French revolution and sought asylum in Germany, hence why the Duke is German. Since Beauty and the  Beast took place in the mid-late 1700s and Frozen takes place mid 1800s, people think that the Duke’s grandson is Jane’s father from Tarzan. This explains why Jane and her father have A pot that looks identical to Mrs. Potts. Mrs. Potts was passed down to newer generations after Belle and the Beast handed it down.

Disney’s Live Action Remakes
Disney has been around for almost 100 years. Throughout that time they have made many movies that are loved by people of all ages. Many people still enjoy watched Disney movies and reminiscing about their childhood. We will have the opportunity to fall in love with these movies all over again when Disney releases their live action remakes of all our favorite films. They are scheduled to remake Aladdin, The Lion King, Mulan, Mary Poppins, The Little Mermaid, Dumbo, Snow White, Pinocchio, Peter Pan, and Lady and the Tramp. They have already made live action remakes of Cinderella, The Jungle Book, and Beauty and the Beast.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Many people believe that Disney should focus more on making new original movies instead of remaking old ones. In the last 20 years Disney has made popular films such as Frozen, Moana, Tangled, Incredibles, Incredibles 2 and The Princess and the Frog. Although some believe that by recreating movies they are using their past successes to make a bigger profit, It could also mean that they are trying to bring in more generations of people. Parents can watch remakes of films that they enjoyed from their childhood and children can experience the films that older generations grew up watching. It will be interesting to see how Disney chooses to make these movies.
The remakes that have already been released do not stay far from the plot of the original films. The remakes from recent years have had very good reviews. Jungle Book has a 95% on rotten tomatoes. Cinderella received an 84%, and Beauty and the Beast has a 71%. Disney has also added songs to some of the films that were not included in the original movies. The Beast has his own song in the 2017 film and he did not have song that he sang alone in the original animation. It will be exciting to see how Disney re imagines classic movies from the past and see if Disney will add any new songs or plot lines.

Women in Disney Films
Tumblr media
In recent years, there has been a lot of talk about female representation in films, specifically children’s films. In classic Disney movies, the princess is usually saved by a prince. For example, in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Snow White is saved by her prince when he kisses her. In Sleeping Beauty, Aurora is awakened from her eternal slumber by her true love’s kiss, and  In The Little Mermaid, Ariel is saved by Prince Eric while they are fighting the villain Ursula. In the last 20 years Disney has changed the role of women in their films to make them more independent and powerful. In the movie Mulan, the protagonist is a female who goes off to war in place of her father. Mulan trains and fights with the men, going almost the entire movie without anybody finding out her secret. Her actual gender is only revealed to the army after she is injured while saving a fellow soldier. Another example of a Disney movie with a strong female lead is Pocahontas. Pocahontas follows the story of a girl who doesn’t want to conform to what her society wishes of her. Eventually she meets a white man, John Smith, and teaches him that the Europeans are incorrect in their beliefs about Native Americans. Towards the end of the film, Pocahontas’ tribe is going to execute John Smith and she jumps in the way stating that if they wish to kill John, they must also kill her. This is a strong contrast to the gender roles in earlier Disney films.
Tumblr media
Although Mulan and Pocahontas both have very strong female heroines, they still have love interests. Many people are agitated that Disney films must always have a male counterpart. Disney has taken the criticism and their latest movie, Moana, has no love interest at all. Moana is assisted by a male character but there is no romance between them. People were pleased that Disney has started excluding love interests from movies. Many children grow up watching Disney films and parents don’t want their daughters thinking that they need a man to solve all their problems and instead want them to watch films that showcase women being strong and independent.

The Pixar Theory
Tumblr media
The Pixar theory is a theory that all films in the Pixar universe are connected. This theory began after audiences began finding Easter eggs which some say proved that all the films took place in the same universe. The first piece of the theory has to do with the Disney movie Brave. The witch in Brave always travels through doors and has a carving of Sully from Monsters Inc in her home. Some believe that the witch from Brave is an older version of Boo from Monsters Inc. She has grown old and is traveling through doors in an attempt to reconnect with Sully. In the film Toy Story, the toys hitch a ride in a pizza planet delivery car. This pizza planet vehicle is seen in other Disney movies. It is also shown in A Bug’s Life, Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo, Cars, Ratatouille, Wall-E, Monsters University, and Brave. Buy N Large is a company that also appears in multiple Disney Pixar films. In the movie Wall-e, we see that Buy N Large had taken over the world. We see Buy N Large batteries in the film Toy Story 3, in Buzz’s back. There is also a BNL gas station in Wall-E.
Tumblr media
The Pixar theory also explains the timeline of Pixar films as well as why animals can talk, toys are alive, and why the planet was destroyed. Again, it all started with Brave. The witch from Brave seems to be somewhat connected to the wisps. In addition, she turns people into animals and they retain human emotion. The theory states that the witch was experimenting on animals and that they eventually reproduced and interbred, producing intelligent offspring. This accounts for the bugs in A Bug’s Life, Finding Nemo, Ratatouille, etc. Animals aren't the only things gaining intelligence in the Pixar universe. AI is also seen many times. In Toy Story, we can see that the toys have feelings and can feel hate and resent. Lotso and Jessie are both angry that their owners rejected them. The theory states that machines and inanimate objects with artificial intelligence enlisted the help of BNL to get rid of humans by ruining the planet.
