I tend to have very detailed dreams, and I often use them as inspiration for my creative works.

Dream description under cut

The people have grown weary of Evil Sorcerer-Queens. Through some means, the people of the world have managed to lock down magic. Now, practitioners can only access magic when under contract. Those who want to use magic must register and receive a contract book, which magically updates with information about open contracts. The contracts will only allow them to access to a certain level of magic, dependent on the job itself.

In a small town, there is a teacher. All of the contracts she takes are low-level and for education. In particular, she helps out those who want to control and use their magic. Magic itself is seen as a deficiency, usually caused by the person’s parents meddling in things they ought not have. One day, a newcomer arrives in town: a woman who is a would-be Sorcerer-Queen. She has found a loophole in the contract system, and she’s exploiting it to allow herself to use magic at will. The teacher fights against her, flipping through the book and accepting higher and higher-level contracts to access higher magic, knowing that for each contract she takes, she will have to fulfill it…
