He is in equal parts elusive and adorable!

I don't have much to say about Winter. He's cute, he's pretty mysterious, which I think is his entire appeal, and so far I haven't see any blazing red flags (but if I know anything about this Manhwa, it's that every single man is a secret red flag at some point).

We all know the role he's supposed to play in Penelope's life pretty early on, but then... cough choke someone ELSE decides to play the role Winter was supposed to play. (¯ . ¯٥) really trying to dodge the spoilers.

So what is there left for Winter, then? Well, I dunno. Maybe he's just gonna be that guy in a bunny mask who ends up being a secret ally for Penelope. There's no knowing.

And maybe it's best that way. ┐(￣ヘ￣;)┌ There's too much going on with all the other guys. You do you, Winter. Stay lowkey. Help sum dang kids. Make more paper bunnies.

Eckles Delman (Thoughts)

Oh Eckles... you cute, lovable, horrible, cruel little thing. (ಥ﹏ಥ ╬)

I have a lot to say about this man in particular. As someone who is feral for the toxic yandere trope (iykyk), Eckles hit a lot of my personal checks in the checkbox. He's got this deep sense of loyalty towards Penelope, but he's also just this dark, brooding mess of jealousy and protective longing that makes him... borderline psychotic?

There's one scene in particular that really cemented this for me. It's when Penelope was in the garden speaking to Callisto, and it was hinted at that Eckles had been watching from the shadows. (Typical Yandere behavior tho, what can I say?). That made me wonder just how much he's been spying on her. Does he have ears and eyes everywhere? Just how much has he caught on about her life outside the Eckhart walls? Given how unhinged he has the capacity to be, I wouldn't put it past him if he's just been spying on her everywhere.

Anyways, all that is fine and dandy, like I said, pretty run-of-the-mill yandere type stuff.

HOWEVER. (ᓀ _ᓀ)

Without spoiling anything for anyone, let's just say much later in the manhwa he makes a VERY... VERY bad choice for the sake of his deep, undying, unconditional love! Ahahahahahahaha... BAD ECKLES! VERY BAD.

I think we all saw that this was coming. He was the easiest love interest. Just breathing in his mere presence was enough to shoot up his love meter like 20%. But it didn't make it any easier to accept when it happened. ┐(シ)┌ (My heart literally dropped in my chest, lol).

On one hand, I can understand why he did what he did. After all, he's only seeing things from his point of view. In his mind, the only person in Penelope's corner is, well, him. Everyone else is a threat to their bond, everyone else is something that takes her attention away from him, that takes her time away from him, and thus it's something he has to eradicate somehow.

BUT ON THE OTHER HAND GAH. (ﾒ���ﾒ) It was a very frustrating decision that I'm sure had everyone else lowkey pulling their hair out.

Eckles, you dug your own grave and buried yourself inside it.

(￣～￣;) and frankly, I don't know what redemption would look like for him at this point, especially from Penelope's point of view.

TLDR; Yikes.

Reynold Eckhart (Thoughts)

Oh wow, he sucks! Oh wait, he's not that bad? Oh he's an absolute jerk! But maybe he's not? (⇀‸↼‶)

My thoughts on this man flip-flop harder than a fish out of water. Honestly, I don't really feel a burning hatred for him (yet), but he's also not really someone I see as being a promising candidate for Penelope. There's times where he's shown genuine remorse for his actions, but then a slip of the tongue is all it takes for him to dig his own grave 6 feet under all over again.

Overall, he's pretty mid. He doesn't give me the "ick" like Derrick, but he's just not... good. There were some wholesome moments with him and Penelope, but he has a LONG way to go still to make amends for his awful treatment of her. Just being a "chivalristic" (I know that's not a word) older brother and swatting off guys who get a little close to her, or being all "wow, I guess there's more to Penelope than I thought! (ﾉಥ益ಥ)ﾉ" isn't enough.

Do more, Reynold.

Until then, you are but one tiny tier above Derrick.

Derrick Eckhart (Thoughts)

I would like to emphasize the "ICK" in "Derrick". (눈_눈)

He's literally just his dad except younger. I mean seriously, if you look at Duke Eckhart, Derrick is legit his clone. And even moreso when it comes to his boring, bland personality too. Dude's more "hot and cold" than a raging volcano under a ice-sheet (and not in a good way).

Maybe he's just misunderstood. ヾ( ￣O￣)ツ

Maybe he really does care for Penelope deep down, but his "duty" and "obligation" prevent him from really showing it- so instead he'll capture a bird that looks like his sister's hair and give it to her, or be "impartial" to her owning a mine, and do little things like that.

But he's shown to choose his "rank" and "status" over her before, who's to say he wouldn't again?

╮(￣_￣)╭ Genuinely the most boring LI in this series. So yes, I will say it louder for the people in the back.

Constantine (Thoughts)

Name someone more useless than this guy? Oh wait, I can't.

┐( ˘_˘ )┌ Forgettable af.

Now I've only read the manhwa so my apologies if this man somehow shines radiantly bright in the web novel but good god he is one of the most pathetic characters I have run across in a manhwa. I can't recount a single memorable thing about this guy other than the fact that he has long white hair and let's be real, if that's the only quality worth remembering- we're not off to a great start.

He's always just there- awkwardly lurking around the King and Benjamin throughout the manhwa with no real purpose of his own. And towards the end he has a few unsightly scenes in a Church, but he's given pretty much no characterization, no meaning (other than just being another Claudia simp).

Okay, hear me out. (×_×)⌒☆

YES, he's a piece of trash. No, I haven't read the web novel but I hear he does less than friendly things to the Female Lead (and it was kiiinndd of in the Manhwa though probably not to that extent). YES, he's manipulative and dare I say, pretty pathetic all things considered (though much less pathetic than Constantine or the King).

So why do I absolutely freaking adore him.

SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME-

There's literally no redeeming qualities here. What's wrong with me.

I just feel like there's so much unused potential with him.

(Maybe I should just read the web novel so I can hate him).
