Columbus-Day 3

Monday morning we headed down to the hotel lobby for a complimentary breakfast and beermosas! Everything was really well done and delicious. We hung out for a while and checked out the outside grounds. They have a dog park and lots of outdoor seating. I would love to go back with friends once the weather is warmer and hang outside kicking a few back.
Then we headed to downtown Columbus. Our first stop was to Dirty Franks Hot Dog Palace for lunch. Kirk’s choice because I’m not the biggest fan of hot dogs but they were pretty good. Afterwards we checked in to our hotel. We took our friend’s advice to visit the North Market, which happened to be only a few blocks from the hotel. There we had dinner at Market & Boar and delicious ice cream at Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams. After dinner we headed to Nationwide Arena for the Mumford & Sons concert.

Current Workout Program

I am currently during Transform :20. Who would have thought in 2019 I would be doing step aerobics! Not your mama’s step aerobics though! This stuff is intense! I will be finishing up Week 4 tomorrow.
Today I started a 100 Squat Challenge. Here’s hoping I can walk by the end of the week.

Brewdog Doghouse Hotel & Brewery - Columbus

After visiting the Columbus Zoo we made our way to my favorite part of the trip, staying at the Brewdog Doghouse! Last fall our friends had told us about their trip to a new hotel that a brewery had just opened outside of Columbus and how awesome it was. It did not disappoint.
Upon checking in we were each given a complimentary beer. Then we headed up to check out our room which was incredibly unique and fun! The room came with an in room tap which consisted of a growler with the beer of your choice thqat you order when you book your stay. A mini fridge stocked with a variety of different craft beers from local breweries. And then a shower beer fridge filled with Brewdog brews that cost just $4 each. After checking out the room it was time to head-down to the brewery facility next door for our complimentary tour. Which also came with another free beer! The tour which lasted about 45 minutes was really neat and informational. I definitely recommend it.
After the tour we sat down for dinner at the taproom. I ordered the mac & cheese and Kirk had the beef brisket with brussel sprouts and cornbread salad. The cornbread salad was really unique and quite delicious. We even splurged and ordered dessert, coffee and donuts. It consisted of house made donuts, espresso ice cream, and a chocolate sauce made with their Jet Black Heart brew. So yummy!
We went down to the common area of the hotel after dinner where they had different seating areas set up with all sorts of board games. We opted to play ping pong for a bit before calling it a night.

Canton/Columbus Vacation

After visiting the Football Hall of Fame (which took about 2 1/2 hours) we headed to The Rail for lunch. It was a cool little gourmet hamburger joint that kind of reminded me of Bagger Dave’s. I had the grilled chicken club and a peanut butter and jelly shake. Everything was delicious including the fries which came with a siracha mayo dipping sauce that was amazing.
We checked into the hotel after lunch and relaxed for a bit. For dinner we went to Fat Head’s Brewery. Kirk had the house smoked wings and I ordered the pub salad. I tried the Hop JuJu Imperial IPA which was pretty good.
Sunday morning we checked out Peace, Love & Little Donuts. Oh man so many different flavors it was hard to choose! We ended up getting a dozen and they were all incredible. We were excited to learn that there is one in Traverse City and we will definitely hit that up when we are there this fall. Before we left Canton I had Kirk stop at Robeks so I could get a smoothie. Trying to stay somewhat healthy despite all the donuts. I had the Pina Koolada and it was delicious. I wish we had a location near us.
Our next stop was the Columbus Zoo. Most of the exhibits were closed for the season but we were still able to see some animals. I think I would have enjoyed it more in warmer weather because it was so cold!

Now that school is out until the fall I have a chance to catch this blog up on the last three months.
Back in March for my birthday weekend Kirk and I took a trip to Ohio. Not my first choice but it was actually a good time. It all started by accident when Kirk asked me to help him buy Mumford & Sons tickets. We were both at work and for some reason my Ticketmaster location defaulted to Columbus. I didnt realize this until after I bought the tickets. Thankfully Columbus isn’t terribly far from us. Our friends had just visited Columbus in the fall so we knew that we could easily make a weekend of it.
We left Saturday morning and our first stop was the Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.

Took the day off work. For whatever reason I couldn’t sleep last night. Also I haven’t had a day off since before Christmas and I needed a break. It felt good just to have a chance to lay in bed and think.
Honestly everything has just been moving so fast this year. Kirk started a new job last week and it’s been rough for him. While it’s the same line of work he is now an hourly employee and the jobs he has been to haven’t exactly been close to home. He’s used to getting paid by the job and leaving home at 8 am and being home around 2 pm. Now he’s leaving around 7 am and not getting home until 6 pm. So I’ve been trying my best to make sure he’s good and today I needed a day to catch up on my own stuff.

Fast Day #3

Made it to Day #3! It hasn’t been as hard as I thought but it is PMS week. Next time I will try to stay off social media as it seems like every other post is food related. While I’m not starving I still have cravings when I see pics of any type of carb. I feel good too. I had a little bit of that euphoria feeling this afternoon. I was worried by this point I would feel sick and worn out . My energy level has been pretty steady throughout. I’ve been getting 10,000+ steps every day.
Hank and I have been hunkering down in the bedroom because it’s so damn cold! Currently it is -8 with a real feel of -30. Unbelievable and even colder in the morning. So it’s sweatpants and wool socks for me and a sweater for Hank.
Kirk’s sister stopped by yesterday and saw all of the different foods I have bought over the past month. He told me this afternoon that she made a comment about me taking this seriously. Yes ma’am my health is something I take seriously. There were also comments regarding that carbs are a necessary part of the diet and something about fasting. I get it I had the same mindset not that long ago. But I did a lot of research (like some legit science research) before making my decision. Also, this next phase of the 131 Method has carbs making a comeback.

Fast Day #1
Day #1 of fasting is in the books. It went pretty well. Not a lot of desire to eat anything outside of my fasting protocols. I had my 131 coffee this morning around 10 which consists of 1 tbsp. of MCT oil and 1 tbsp. of organic butter. I skipped the monkfruit sweetener I usually add to my coffee. Around 1:30 I had the LonoLife chicken bone broth. It was better than I expected, but the smell was unappetizing. It made it hard to drink, but I did enjoy the flavor. I made 131 basic brain bombs after work. The main ingredients were coconut oil, coconut butter, and almond butter. They also call for a few drops of vanilla Stevia and sea salt. I had that around 5:30. I’m also making sure that I drink my water. I’ve taken the suggestion of adding lemon and sea salt to my water to replace lost electrolytes.
I’m taking a business management course this semester and this week we have two modules to complete. I finished up the first module today. I felt sharp working on the assignment. I’m interested to see if I experience a better sense of clarity during this fast.

Tomorrow marks the end of week 3 of the 131 Method. I’m still going strong and haven’t had much desire to cheat. I’ve been intermittent fasting everyday. I fast for 16 hours and have an 8 hour eating window. I thought it was going to be tough but it has been pretty easy. For once I feel like I have control on my hunger. I have been a late night eater most of my life so I thought finishing eating at 6 every night was going to be tough. However, it hasn’t been an issue.
I weighed in this morning and am down 12 pounds! I haven’t been at this low of a weight in 2 1/2 years! And I haven’t been working out. My goal is to add workouts back in to the mix at the end of next week after my 3-day fast.
Yes, I’m doing a 3-day supported fast starting Monday and I feel good about it. For me it’s not necessarily about weight loss but healing my gut and boosting my immune system. Chalene instructs us that we make our own rules during this program. It’s about what works for us and what we want to achieve. She gave us several options regarding the fast and I feel confident in my ability to complete a supported fast. I’m following the program and having coffee, bone broth, and fat bombs.
I placed an order on Amazon for some new products to try and re-stock on some of my favorites. Legendary Foods pecan pie almond butter is so good! The apple pie almond & cashew butter is also delicious. I have another package coming on Wednesday.
