Just sanded and treated a couple of my big oak slabs ready for sale . These slabs are not dead flat and have only been sanded to show off the stunning timber grain. These oak slabs will still need a final sand and a final finish coat applied. These oak slabs measure; No1. 3200mm long x 550 minimum x 65 mm. No2. 4200mm long x 680 minimum x 54 mm These are both air dried seasoned oak, these have been stored in a dry barn for at least 6 years and are now at around 16% moisture content. These oak slabs would be perfect for an epoxy river table, dinning table, worktops or even a bar top. The choice is yours. What would you do if you had a slab of oak like this ? After cooking slow and low in the oven for 14 hours we now have to wait another hour for the brisket to rest. Oh if you could smell or taste this, even first thing this morning it was falling apart as I changed it into a different dish. This is the first time that I’ve started cooking at 1am in the morning! I’m doing a slow roast brisket joint with garlic lemon and satsumas . I’ve browned the meat slacked it in beef stock and wrapped it in foil to steam away at 80 degrees celsius for 6 hours , now I’m off to bed. In the morning I’m going to then slow smoke it on the bbq until about 3pm I’ll then check to see how it looks.
