My goal in this fandom is to spread the idea that it’s cool to explore Zane’s inhumanness because idk if I’m just not looking for it properly but I can’t find ANYTHING exploring that he is a Nindroid to the fullest extent. Let this man have loading screen eyes while he thinks because he thinks it’s funny, explore how self sacrificial he is because he’s “expendable” since he can build a new body or body part, explore the quirks of machinery like software updates giving Zane a funny or exploitable glitch.

SO many cool things can be explored and u bet your ass I’m actively planning like 4 separate comics about it as we speak

Thought:

Annabeth would be good at braiding hair. Her mother is very well known for her weaving skills and Annabeth definitely proved herself to possess those skills during Mark of Athena. Imagine a girls night with Annabeth braiding Hazel's hair and Piper handing Annabeth beads as they talk about the boys. Imagine Annabeth weaving imperial gold thread into the braids, it would look ethereal with her eyes.

headcannon that after percy gets home and all that from being missing the first several months of him being home was everyone acting like he’s a small child who might get lost if he isn’t wearing one of those monkey backpacks with a leash as a tail

i know annabeth stopped letting him walk her to her cabin she now walks him to his cabin and watches him close the door then stands there for 5 minutes before calling goodnight to his window and if he doesn’t answer she breaks the door down to verify he is infact still in there

sally walks into him room at night just to check if he’s still in his bed tbh the first month i know sally was practically rocking him to sleep just so she knew he was home and safe

when he’s not at camp he’s at home if he’s not at home he’s at camp and if he’s not at either of those he’s got a buddy with him

i know every so often he starts feeling a bubble of anxiety in his chest and he has to force an extremely strong feeling of safety and conger up a mental image of exactly where he’s at just to calm down grover who he just saw 8 hours ago

it probably stresses sally and paul out when he’s in his room for too long and they don’t hear him walking around like he goes upstairs to do his homework and once he’s sat at his desk for over an hour he’s got some knocking at his door and it’s paul “just checking in”

i know everytime he walks into a cabin or the big house or even home everyone greets him like it’s the first time they’ve talked to him in years like they’re trying to positively reinforce the fact that he’s safe and home

i know paul starts getting a little anxious when he doesn’t see him around for a certain amount of time too like he misses percy leaving for the day so paul pokes his head into percy’s room to see it empty then goes downstairs to see only sally and has to force a flat voice as he’s like “lol so have you seen percy recently or…” as his hearts beating in his throat

like percy disappearing has def given everyone ptsd and anytime he’s gone for what feels like even slightly too long they start to panic a little

he stops at a grocery store after he leaves school and ducks into an alley to iris message annabeth just to let her know he’s gonna run late 20 min later he’s trying to debate what flavor ice cream he should get when an employee is tapping him on the shoulder bc there’s someone on the line for him and it’s annabeth who’s hacked into the security cameras telling him to get chocolate

she got 2 birds with 1 stone now he has to leave and come home (bc monsters) and she also gets her fav flavor

The thing about Queen's Thief is that the reveals that come with Gen's trickster type, don't just reveal that he is smarter or more skilled than the people around him (or the readers) thought, but also that he is more good than they originally thought. Gen's goodness is a part of the twist.

This is probably most prominent in King of Attolia where his surprising mercy is a huge part of the plot (and his genuine love and friendship). But it happens over and over again.

In The Thief we are led to believe that he is motivated primarily by self-interest and we are surprised by the depths of his loyalty, the generous affection that comes out for the Magus, and by the fact that he is actually primarily motivated by duty and love for his queen/favorite cousin/reigning bestie.

In Queen of Attolia the twist is that his actions which looked like generalized mischief and political power plays actually all spring from love, and that love arose initially from empathy with a girl's loneliness.

Or when he becomes king, and then it's revealed that yes he got what he wanted but actually this is an act of self sacrifice (for the sake of Irene and Hellen and Eddis).

And on and on.

The pettiness and the pride and the mischief for its own sake are all still there, but they coexist with this deep undercurrent of loyalty and duty and love and mercy and kindness. And when push comes to shove that undercurrent will always win out and its that which makes the twists so triumphant and satisfying.

Anon hate is shitty and you shouldn’t do it of course but it’s also the funniest and least effective kind of hate

For starters the blogger can just delete and ignore it. And given tumblr’s penchant for eating asks I think it would drive some hate senders a little insane if they keep checking back in wondering if their ask got eaten.

For second the anon ask format guarantees the blogger gets the last word in every time. Even if anon sends a follow up message they will never get the last word. And tumblr for better or for worse seems to run on this currency of “whoever expressed the last opinion in a post is the one we’re supporting”

For third, this publishes the hate directly to the blogger’s own followers, i.e. the people MOST likely to take the blogger’s side. Home court advantage by design.

I don't know where it is, but someone said Irene went out of her way to touch Gen 6 times in Queen of Attolia, which is a lot for someone who says she doesn't love him, but like. No one ever talks about kamet and costis. Every time kamet gets dizzy or injured, or they have to "pretend" to be friends, or costis gets injured, the other is so ready to physically help them. When they end up in the water, kamet clings to costis's neck. When he gets hit on the head, costis keeps his arm around him for a looooong time. And you wanna say kamet hates him? You wanna say there are any negative feelings between them? The way they both go out of their way to always be physically supporting the other.

Chapter 4:

I think it's funny that Costis so readily volunteers to fight off the approaching swordsmen, leaving Kamet to scramble. "My alarm was perfectly reasonable, as the horsemen appeared to be waving at us, and I was certain that what they were waving was swords." Kamet's precision does nothing to hide his anxiety (which I think is well-warranted).

I have to wonder, when would Costis have realized the true depth of Kamet's fear about the skirmish? Or, more generally, that every bit of Kamet's worldview is informed by his life as a slave?

"I didn't come all the way to this godsforsaken cesspit so that I could go home and tell my king I failed him." / loyaltyyyyyy. I love Costis. flashback to KoA: "He knew he would march into hell for this fathomless king."

I know everyone has already talked about the absurdity of the lion's den, but: Costis. what are you doing.

Also, I love the surgery song. that is all.
