The Aviator (2004) I adore this film. I recently rewatched it and I had forgotten how impressive this film is visually. Sandy Powell's costumes are devine. I love what she has done with Cate Blanchett's character Katherine Hepburn. That mixture of masculinity and femininity.

Anna Karenina (2012)
There is some beautiful millinery and hair decoration in this film, especially worn by the title character Anna Karenina.

Hello Dolly (1969) This gold and yellow embellished gown is probably the most recognised outfit from this light-hearted musical (I am not surprised considering the scale of the feathered headpiece). The detailing on this dress is incredible, it must have taken hours upon hours to embellished it all - and to to great effect, it looks as if she is wearing pure gold. Irene Sharaff was nominated for an Oscar for her creations!

Orlando (1992)
This is one of the most remarkable films I have watched. It’s based on the novel written by the brilliant 20th century writer, Virginia Woolf. It follows the title character ‘Orlando’ travel through four centuries, two genders and the struggles and triumphs that unfold.
This artistic and intelligent film is highly stylised, with its lush locations and an almost fairytale-like view of the past - basically each scene could be its own gorgeous painting. I could go on and on about the sumptuous costumes and set design, but then again, I probably wouldn’t be able to stop. Tilda Swinton was perfectly cast, as it was acted wonderfully and her androgynous look couldn’t have been more perfect for the character. Sandy Powell was rightly nominated for an Oscar and a Bafta for her work on this film.
