Man, I saw the last part of your carriage post about emergence and the last word, eject. And now I can't stop thinking about seeker carriage where the baby is launched like a pilot ejection seat during emergence, and someone needs to football catch that sparkling. That initial airtime is probably good for flier sparklings

Hi, I had a question about the Ratchets

Like in relation to drift’s carriage, when did they’re ratchet died and when did quantum ratchet appear?

Ratchet died VERY early into Drift’s carriage (during the Sparked term), and Quantum Ratchet showed up during Drift’s Descent, stayed for the duration of the gestation, AND delivered Spectra

I remember you said that Spectra doesn't grow because he knows he's missing something, but can Spectra transmit Drift's feelings too, because he loves Ratchet too?

Sort of!!

Spectra (and gestation-born sparklings) are highly attuned to EM fields (emotions). He learned how to feel and recognize them via Drift’s.

It’s like how human babies do not recognize their mothers as separate entities, but as extensions of themselves.

At this age, Spectra can essentially transmit Drift’s emotions because Drift’s emotions are essentially his.

How you feel is all I know, therefore what you feel is my own.

Since Spectra can magnetize at will, do they ever cling on to Drift like leech? Like Drift trying to set Spectra down to go do something and Spectra is just not budging.

Sparklings activate the magnet by sheer proximity alone. FOR SAFETY AND SHAPE-CHANGING PURPOSES the creators CAN turn their half of the magnet off (they also develop a magnet on their back and chest).

However, this does not apply to when/if a sparkling chooses to cling to a different part of their creator’s body (see: shoulder, arm, leg, etc)

So BASICALLY it’s DRIFT overeacting, thinking his FULLY EMERGED SPARKLING might start imprinting on other bots (megatron in the context of the comic) because Q!Ratchet is being so DISTANT

THIS IS AN ASK ABOUT THE EM FIELDS, TELL ME EVERYTHING

EM FIELDS are the basis of which a sparkling learns and develops social skills.

Cybertronians are extremely social. The point of their existence is ultimately to be cradled.

Sparklings are ESPECIALLY in tune to EM fields from the moment they’re sparked. The way their carrier’s EM field interacts with others and responds to their environment is integral to their emotional and intellectual development. It is also how sparklings come to identify their sire’s EM field beyond the bond.

The sparkling lives for the entirety of its gestation within the field of its carrier. It goes blind to it at one point (like being unable to see New York City while standing in Manhatten), and grows especially attached to the sire’s EM field, which it has come to know and recognize as one that is highly favored; WE love this field, WE adore it, WE are always happy to see it, WE need this field (to care for us and ensure our survival).

In a way, a sparkling learns to love its sire by how much its carrier loves its sire.

Post-Emergence, sparklings tend to favor their sire because their EM field is their favorite.

(The significance of a sire’s EM field also, ironically, makes them the easiest to replace in terms of sparkling-rearing.)

As for how i was drawing it, it was just to represent the change in emotions (smooth rings for calm or neutral, spiky blobs for Not Calm or Not Neutral)

saw another post that headcanoned sparklings sounding like animal crossing characters so now thats what im hearing when i see the teeny baby text boxes

My friend (looks into the audience) suggested that the sound (which i am categorizing as like. Very primal old cybertronian) sparklings make (that only their creators can hear) sounds like this!
