Sometimes more is less when it comes to eating right!
Tumblr media
While we all want to shed some lbs of fat, not all of us know exactly how to do it. Generally people think that more exercise and less food will get the trick done, it doesn’t always work. While exercising more is definitely a key to your success, eating less is not necessarily enough in terms of your diet. What is more important is that you are eating the right foods. An important term you must get to know if you want to eat right is “energy density.” This term refers to the amount of calories there are in each gram of food you are eating. For instance a gram of butter has far more calories than a gram of kale, 717 calories versus 49 calories, respectively. Therefore, in terms of volume of food consumed, you can eat a lot more than you used to, as long as you eat right and substitute the right foods in. By subsisting veggies for rice and pasta, you can often increase the volume of food you are eating all the while reducing calories and adding other nutritional value to your meal.
The key to the above advice holding true, however, is that you keep a strict on your new diet and make sure to avoid those high density food that you may have previously been eating. Without proper monitoring (as well as ample exercise) the above theory won’t hold true. A good pointer would be to analyze your past diet and see which foods you were eating that had the highest energy density and substitute some of those foods out for less energy dense alternatives. Remember to keep track of your meals and monitor your progress and sooner or later you will start to feel and look better. Now don’t wait, get started today!

The Jump / Throw / Carry, explained by Strength Coach Don Saladino
Tumblr media
Wondering why all the workouts in the D. Wade app begin with a Jump, Throw, and Carry movement? We asked expert Strength Coach Don Saladino of Drive 495 gyms in New York City.
"JTC is what we feel is the best way to prime the body to be able to handle any movement.  It is an extremely versatile way of warming up the body or even structuring as part of the workout.  Typicaly an athlete needs to jump, throw or carry something.  This is the best way to get athletes game time ready to be able to with stand what ever may be thrown at them.  The beauty is that from day to day the movements can change which gives plenty of variety but makes the warmup or workout dynamic and fun."
Now, go hit the gym!

Ernie is still #Driven to be the Best
This past weekend, Driven’s own Ernie Els put forth another great effort coming in 4th at the WGC – Accenture Matchplay Championship in Dove Mountain, Arizona. While fourth place is obviously not where Ernie would have liked to have finished, he made quite a run and beat some formidable opponents to come in at the top of the leaderboard. He took out Justin Rose, Jason Dufner, and the new young phenom on tour, Jordan Spieth. Despite being old enough to be most of his competitors’ father, Els has managed to keep his game on point and make shots when it matters. While Ricky Fowler may have beaten him in a playoff in the consolation match, Ernie should be very happy with his performance at the tournament. If you want to learn Ernie’s tricks and training regime, download Ernie Els Driven and start improving your game TODAY!!

Adrian Peterson became the 28th player in the NFL’s history this past weekend to reach 10,000 yards rushing. AD reached this milestone this past Sunday in an overtime win over the Chicago Bears.  In just over six and half seasons in the league, AD reached the 10K milestone in just 101 games, the third fastest in history. AD, however, isn’t done yet and is still #driven to be the best running back ever. After the game AP commented, “this has been my mindset since I was young, to be the best to ever play…you have got to believe it in order to accomplish it.” While we here at Driven Apps know that AD is far from done in his pursuit to be the best, we would like to congratulate him on reaching 10,000 career rushing yard. Don't forget to watch the highlight reel above, it is one of the the best highlight reels of a running back you will ever see! #AllDay #EveryDay
If you want to train like Adrian Peterson and get that #AllDay strength and conditioning go to the itunes store and download Adrian Peterson Driven
