Zombies? Parkour? Hardcore Parkour with Zombies?!
Dying Light - Your Not So Average Zombie Game

Zombies? Parkour? Hardcore Parkour with Zombies?!
You heard right, parkour with zombies. And it may not sound like much at first but it is a key element to this game that makes it stand above all other current zombie games. The quickest and best way I could describe this game is that it is the love child of Dead Island (Zombie FPS, 2011) and Mirror’s Edge (Parkour FPS/Platform, 2008). If you happened to miss out on either that’s okay! Dying Light fills the niche for both (Although Mirror’s Edge does have a sequel set for the future)!
So besides being able to pull off insane ‘Altair (Assassin’s Creed) skills’ what does this game have to offer? Well, like most open world RPGs you’ll have your sleugh of side quests, collectibles, and perhaps more importantly the option of multiplayer (Co-Op AND Vs.). Fairly standard content when compared to other open worlds such as Far Cry 3, The Elder Srolls IV: Oblivion, etc. The crafting and inventory system is very similar as well. Though I’d have to note that there is a limited feel to the inventory. 4 slots for both active weapons and tools???? Hopefully you will learn to swap things in the inventory quickly.

Another unique feature can be found in how progression works. It is slightly different in that rather than one experience pool there are 3 aspects to leveling and each gains experience based on their particular trait. For example there is an agility tree that levels up solely on actually climbing, running, jumping all over the place - things you would associate with agility. The remaining two are survival and combat, I’m sure you can figure the rest out.

And as far as content the game can be long if you allow yourself to get distracted. I’ve clocked 19 hours and have only reached about 30% completion. And of course you can fill your need of some mild PvP by invading other players. By doing so you get your own special zombie that can cause some mayhem to the other 1-4 survivors. This special zombie also skills can be achieved through leveling - so investing time can pay off!

Definitely worth the grab if you’re a zombie fan and or like the open world FPS games.
Happy hunting!

If you’ve ever wanted to see a brand new video game being played poorly by two guys who keep making bad puns and other sorts of terrible jokes, well. That’s what this is.
