‘cause i know you’re gonna treat me right - davenzi fic [⁴⁄₄]
Hi, this is long overdue but it has fallen to me (@davenziabend) to finish the blind date fic, so here goes -
×××
There is a spring in Matteo’s step as he strolls down the street that he recognises would lead to the cafe, the one that is in the North side of Berlin that Amira took him to six months ago; the one that he only realises that he has nearly never visited, with anyone other than David that is, given how it is far removed from the places that his friends usually frequent. Speaking of David…
He pushes open the door to the cafe, eyes scanning the establishment to look for the unmissable beanie among the patrons. It is not that difficult to find it, considering that he finds it at the exact table that he sat at six months ago. David, seemingly equipped with a sixth sense of Matteo’s presence, raises his eyes and looks at Matteo just as Matteo has found him, and Matteo would be lying if he says his heart did not just skip a beat.
He would be embarrassed to admit it in any other circumstance, alongside with the hitch of his breath that he pretends to have not noticed himself, but does Matteo really care about how he is reacting himself or what anyone else would think if they have known, when David is smiling at him with the toothy grin he has all the way across the cafe with a slight tilt of his head, shining at Matteo like the sun?
He crosses the short distance between them which nonetheless feels like too far, and plops down opposite David, a cup of coffee already waiting for him. He wraps his palms around the cup, the coffee is still hot, right at the temperature Matteo likes it - not scalding hot but not lukewarm either.
“Nice table.” Matteo comments, in lieu of a proper greeting, though a game of footsie is afoot already under the table.
Instead of acknowledging that he deliberately chose the table at which they first met, David makes a reference to the occasion instead. “I hope you’re expecting a date this afternoon?”
“Oh no,” Matteo feigns with all his dramaticness and mock horror, “with whom?”
Before he can even register it, David has reached over and flicked his button nose.
“Ow, rude!”
The self-satisfied chuckle that came out of David however, more than makes everything more than right for Matteo. He would never get enough of the sound of it; or of David’s honey like voice; or his thoughtfulness; or just… everything that is David.
God is he whipped.
--
The act that they did not hit it off went as successful as Matteo’s attempt last week to look for evidence that aliens are a thing in Berlin - which is to say, by David’s assessment, a hilarious failure. It had been maybe a week since they met when Matteo proposed this whole act, ostensibly to get back at Amira for being sneaky, and being a love-drunk fool, David agreed to it without giving it any thought.
While David was more than capable of playing his part in front of Amira, Omar and Essam, not really initiating any meaningful interaction with Matteo as they were in the Mahmood household hanging out, Matteo only barely managed to not talk to David, all the while staring after him when he thought no one was looking and very obviously paying attention to whatever David was doing or saying. The whole act lasted all of thirty minutes, when an inquisition materialises itself in the form of Amira questioning his helpless boyfriend while David disappeared into the bathroom, coming back to seeing Matteo tongue-tied and looking at him pleading for help. He just let out an amused sigh, walking over to the group and pressed his lips to Matteo’s temple, squeezing himself onto the couch next to him and wrapping an arm around Matteo’s middle.
“It’s all his idea.” David volunteers the information just as Matteo got comfortable melting into his side, content to not say anything and pretend that the Mahmood siblings were not there.
“Traitor!” Matteo yelled indignantly, but his protests are heeded by exactly no-one in the vicinity.
--
Fingers snapping in front of his face draws David out of his reminiscing, a habit David knows Matteo picked up from his best friend a.k.a. Amira.
“Are you going to tell me more about that film idea of yours or nah?” Matteo asks as he pops a piece of cookie into his mouth, posture fully relaxed and mocks the head-tilt that David does a lot unconsciously.
David smiles, he will never get over the thrill of having someone who not only loves him; not only have so much to talk about with, be it about aliens or music or Matteo’s distinct lack of knowledge about art; not only has fun doing all sorts of things together with David; but also shares unending enthusiasm towards David’s dreams and goals.
“Let’s see… do you mean the one with a techno-loving alien finding himself in Detroit making pasta because he miscalculated his path to Roswell…?”
David could barely finish his sentence when he hears and sees Matteo’s amused snort.
“That’s a new one.”
“Actually, that could be promising,” David pulls out his film ideas notebook, scrawling down something about what he just said off the top of his head, “see? You’re always a fountain of inspiration for me.” He smiles proudly at his boyfriend who blushes.
The smallest of compliments always makes his boyfriend embarrassed and blush, and David would never get tired of the sight of it, or how it makes his own heart swell, that it is him who makes Matteo happy, or flustered, or all the other good things.
He relents though, and instead tells Matteo about the story idea that he has been promising to tell Matteo about - the one about aliens, flying body parts, and the deeper meaning of the search of oneself in the minds of people and the journey to realisation and self-realisation, and the prospect of finding home.
Like David has found home in Matteo.
David was not really expecting anything when he agreed to what Omar proposed, to go on a blind date to some friend of his sister’s. It looked so inconsequential at the time, like a thing that could be slid into the blank on his schedule on that sunny afternoon when he had been low on creativity. What he got out of it was and still is way more than he could imagine or bargain for - giving to David something that he thought he would never find, bringing a new perspective on life into David’s life, illuminating David’s world. The most important thing to David, though, is that he seems to be doing something similar for Matteo, as he was told as much by Amira one time, being pulled to the side while Matteo was out of earshot at some gathering they were all at.
“You’re making that dopey look again zoning out.” Matteo points out.
The smile does not retreat from his face - he only tells Matteo the truth, “just thinking how lucky I am to have met you.”

for us (and what’s to come) [5/?]
15 March 2020
Sonntag 19:03
Matteo stirs his spatula idly in the pot, watching as the creamy sauce simmers, a light rhythmic clatter echoing around the walls of the kitchen, some slow song playing quietly on the speaker behind him, and he sways a little to the rhythms of the songs.
David had been out on a late evening run, having to find a way to work off some of his pent up energy from staying in more than he is normally used to recently. He has quickly poked his head into the kitchen to greet Matteo before disappearing into the bathroom, mindful not to interact with Matteo too closely before he is sure he is cleaned up. Being left to his own devices, Matteo decides to rifle through the cabinet and fridge for ingredients to put together something for everyone, with Hans at his university for some meeting, and Linn cooped up in her room for much of  the day. Mia would probably stop by with Victoria later in the evening, so he got on with it in relative privacy. He takes a sip of the white wine he has laid out on the table behind him, a habit he has picked up from Hans at some point - drinking lightly while he is cooking, before taking the other untouched glass and pouring the wine into the sauce.
He turns down the stove, pouring the penne he has cooked in the beginning, and covers the pot, setting a timer to count down the time until the dish would be ready. He walks back over to the table to take another sip of white wine out of the glass, before starting to stretch his back, some little knots finding their way there somehow during the process of cooking. A pair of strong arms find their way around his waist just as he is doing it, followed by a familiar scent enveloping around him, and a chin resting on his shoulder. Matteo melts, quite literally, resting some of his weight onto David, who keeps his firm hold of Matteo and kisses the shell of his ear.
“Are you drinking without me?” David asks, and Matteo can hear the little smirk on his face without even seeing it.
“Nah. Had to use it for the sauce.”
“Hm. Then why is there still some in this glass?” David asks, craning his neck to try to look at Matteo, who just rolls his eyes.
“Ass. Couldn’t resist a sip or two. It’s good wine.”
“You’re turning into Hans.”
Matteo tries to elbow his boyfriend in the ribs, who just tightens his hold more, meaning Matteo could not do anything about it or go anywhere. If either of them notices that his body betrays him and melts more into David’s hold, neither said anything about it.
“Ass.” He mutters instead. “I’m not going to tell you that lube is the key to happiness.”
David barks out a laugh in surprise, definitely still amused by that comment Matteo told him about so many months on. His grip loosens a little, and Matteo tries not to whine at the loss of contact, and instead takes advantage of his newly returned ability to move to pour a glass of wine into the unused glass and hand it to David.
“I don’t disagree with that. It’s quite handy.” David says with an absurd wiggle of eyebrows, as he toasts to that and takes a sip. Matteo ignores that, favouring another sip from his glass, then walking over to the stove to take a peek at the pot to see how the food is coming together.
“I’m going to pretend I did not hear that.” He mutters as he picks up the spatula to stir the pot once more. David chuckles as he lets Matteo get on with his work, tapping along on the table to the beat of the song playing on the speakers, some Keiino song that shuffled into Matteo’s playlist. For once he does not interfere with Matteo’s cooking, probably enjoying his wine a little too much, or probably not wanting to get a bulb of garlic thrown at his face having just come out of the shower, which Matteo would do with no qualms, thank you very much.
They stay like that, until Matteo stops the timer before it starts beeping and turns off the stove. A few plates and food containers find their way on the surface next to the stove, courtesy of David, who knows what Matteo is planning on without him even mentioning it. Between them, they plate and box the pasta, and before long, Matteo is throwing the emptied pot into the sink. He walks back over to the table, where David is setting the table, having refilled both their glasses, and tries to peck him, having realised he has not done that yet since David has come back, but is stopped by David pointing a finger in his nose with a smirk. Matteo moves to bite his finger, but David holds his face, using his other hand to wipe something off his face.
“How did the sauce get on your face?” David asks amusedly as he shows Matteo his finger, barely holding back laughter as Matteo pouts. “And,” he continues, wiping his hand off on the towel before looking back at Matteo. He reaches over and picks something else off Matteo’s face near his eye.
“You have an eyelash.” He says as he holds up the offending hair between his fingers.
Before David can say anything else, Matteo blows the eyelash out of his fingers and frames David’s cheeks with his hands, pulling him in to kiss him properly. When he pulls back, David’s cheeks are a little rosier, a little dazed, and probably love drunk.
“No need to make a wish?” David manages to ask.
“No need to make a goddamn wish when my wish is standing right in front of me.”

for us (and what’s to come) [4/?]
11 March 2020
Mittwoch 11:08
“Do you remember that time in the corridor?”
David stops typing on his laptop, having slipped out of bed to work at his desk, trying to get some of his scripting work done for this class in film school before Matteo wakes up from his slumber and they start their day together. Some of his professors cancelled classes, while Matteo does not have to work, so they would probably spend the day between the kitchen, the room and the living room, probably with Matteo in his lap as they binge watch some show that they have started a few days back when neither of them could fall asleep.
He has not even noticed Matteo waking up, like the tell tale signs of the sheets rustling, or Matteo blindly feeling around the bed, or the light footsteps padding along the floorboard. Matteo is already wrapping his arms around David’s shoulders from behind, resting his chin on top of David’s head, pressing a kiss in his hair to greet him good morning.
He rests his hand on Matteo’s, rubbing in small circles on the back of his hand.
Matteo, who is the master of vague statements and questions.
“Which time in the corridor? Is it the one when we nearly jumped each other in the corridor outside Kiki and Carlos’ flat only to hear them actually fucking?”
That earns David a light shove on his shoulder, but Matteo is laughing, and falls into the chair at the desk next to David, resting his head on David’s shoulder as he vibrates with his giggles. He rubs his cheek against it like a cat when he steadies his breath again. David’s fingers instinctively find their way into Matteo’s hair, combing through and playing with it mindlessly as he tries to finish the paragraph he is writing with only one hand, lest the idea he has with the particular scene eludes him  later. Matteo seems content to stay right there and let David continue with his work, giving David company and making his presence known through the lull of his body as he breathes in and out. If not for the fact that David knows he looks like he is thinking of something when David glances at him, it would not have been a stretch for him to assume that Matteo has fallen back to sleep - which is a tangible possibility in any circumstance.
Just as David saves and closes the document, deciding that he has other things that he prefers doing right now, Matteo speaks up, continuing the conversation that they have abandoned a few minutes ago.
“I was thinking of the time when I first saw you. At Barnim.”
If there is one thing he could not forget about that is associated with the corridors of the school that he did his abitur in, it would be this. The time when he and Matteo first locked eyes.
“Of course I do.” David replies, turning his head towards Matteo and pressing a kiss on his forehead. “I was wondering why that guy was staring at me weirdly.”
Matteo makes an offended noise and moves to pull away, but with David’s arm securely wrapped around him, it is a lost cause from the get go, and Matteo, with all his minimal acting ability, begrudgingly stays put. David sees through all of that without difficulty, only booping Matteo’s nose in response to the little theatrical pout he has plastered on his face.
“What were you thinking at that moment?” David asks, rolling away backwards on his chair, tilting his head at Matteo as he asks the question and picking up the cereal bar he has forgotten on the bedside table, splitting it in half after unwrapping the packing. He offers Matteo one half, who just opens his mouth and points at it. He rolls his eyes and walks back over to place it in Matteo’s mouth, who winks in response before starting to chew as loud as he could - like a gremlin that he is.
“I thought.” Matteo says, as he swallows the bar in record time while David has barely gotten to half of it, “I saw the hottest guy in the world. And, oh my god, he is looking back. Twice.”
That puts the whole image back into David’s head again. He remembers it well, not that he thinks he and Matteo had ever talked about this moment, as they have always been more about creating new moments together. He remembers seeing Matteo from afar shortly after switching schools, seeing him with another boy - Jonas, and how he thought the little smile beneath the messy mop of hair is the most beautiful thing he has ever seen, and thinking to himself that the last thing he needed was getting to know anyone. Matteo made the task of laying low very difficult, and the rest is history.
“I mean, anyone would look back and figure out what is going on when someone is staring at you weirdly.” David says instead, pushing Matteo’s buttons.
Without fail, Matteo takes the bait.
“Oh my god, David. Stop being so mean.” He whines. “I can’t believe I want to break up with you on an anniversary.”
“Anniversary?” David parrots. Then he connects the dots. “Was that seriously one year ago?” He wonders out loud as he stares out of the window. It is unbelievable that it was already a year when everything with Matteo, with film school, with all the good in his life still feels like yesterday, like it is a new start that would propel David forward.
“Yup, and I’m walking out!” Matteo announces as he stands up, acting as if he is going to walk out from his own place with none of his items with him - not even his phone. David hugs him and stops him regardless.
“Do you think I would let someone I thought I would be very lucky to have walk away from me when I have actually gotten him?” He says, as he turns Matteo around, seeing a secret little smile playing out on his face.
“Is that what you thought?” Matteo asks.
David smiles, deciding he has had enough of pushing Matteo’s buttons and that a heart-to-heart is probably in order.
“That, yeah.” He whispers, standing closer into Matteo’s space, his hands resting on Matteo’s hips to keep him in place. “And that I wanted to know more about him, to understand him, and understand why he sees me.”
“And then I thought that was not part of my plan, getting to know people and all that.”
“I am glad that you did not stick to your plan.” Matteo whispers back, like it is a secret just to be known by the two of them.
“I am glad that you found me and got me again and again and foiled that stupid plan.” David agrees.
David lets Matteo pull him closer, wrapping his arms around him and pressing a small kiss on David’s pulse point. David runs a hand down Matteo’s back, waiting as Matteo thinks of the next thing to say. Matteo has never been one that is good with words, always taking his time to formulate his thoughts, especially when it is something that he takes it seriously and means it wholeheartedly. His language of touch though, is as expressive as it gets, and one that David has gotten very fluent at, and he knows that Matteo is expressing how much he loves David and how much he means to him. It is not a rare sentiment, but probably one that is more intense right now than the usual.
“You’re the best thing that happened to my life. I cannot imagine where I’ll be if I never met you, or that we never talked.”
“Me neither.”
They stay standing there in each other’s arms, neither saying anything, just enveloped in each other’s warmth and scent, feeling the comfort of each other’s touch, feeling as present as they are when they are with each other, knowing they both understand without needing to explain, that the days are brighter and warmer together, that maybe their lives were destined to be entwined from the moment they locked eyes a year ago, in that corridor at their high school.
Life has changed so much in a year, with film school, with moving to a new flat, with a whole new group of friends, with Matteo. But in the sea change, Matteo has become the constant in his life, that David feels the safest, the most content, the freest, the most comfortable with. That Matteo has slowly wormed his way into David’s heart and found a home there, and David has found that, maybe Matteo is home to him.
They only break apart when Matteo’s stomach loudly protests about the lack of food being present in his system, and they move on into the kitchen, with David trying not to be useless in there, just about managing to whip up the mixture for Matteo to make the pancakes.
Later, when they are settled on the couch with Matteo lying in David’s lap as they continue with the show on stream that they have been binging, a thought from their previous conversation comes back into his mind, despite any hint of it happening having been long in the past as their intimate, soft atmosphere got replaced with their usual jokey and fun while they were screwing around in the kitchen and over food.
“But do you think this is our anniversary?” He asks, as he plays with Matteo’s hair, as the credits starts rolling for the first episode they are watching today.
“It is.”
David thinks about it, but before he can say anything, Matteo continues.
“We have many anniversaries. And today is when we first saw each other.”
David hums.
“I guess that makes sense. Everyday can be an anniversary for something.”
“We will create many more memories together.”
Matteo laces his fingers with David’s resting them on Matteo’s chest like it is the thing he treasures the most, as they focus back on the screen with the new episode starting to play.
For today, the memory is being utterly domestic.

for us (and what’s to come) [3/?]
31 December 2019
Dienstag 23:57
Believe it or not, the new year’s is a low-key affair for David and Matteo, which is a welcome change after the craziness that is known as the Christmas Eve party at the House of Hans.
The past year was a bit of a rollercoaster, looking back at it. He moved schools, got a bump in the road but still managed to pass abitur. He got into the film program he was targeting from the get go. He met new friends and found fun in life. He faced challenges getting used to university but the first semester has been going well.
But more importantly, it was also a year of firsts. Or well, one very important first and all that comes with it.
He found love. He fell in love, for the first time.
He is jostled out of his reminiscing as Matteo joins him back on the balcony, wrapped in at least three sweaters. He squeezes himself next to David on the armchair, a mug of hot chocolate cradled precariously in his palms. Somehow, in the cramped space and with a drink in hand, Matteo manages to snuggle closer and shove his cheek against David’s neck.
The WG is sans a party, hence being quiet tonight, with just the two of them staying in. Hans has waltzed off to some Silvester party at a club downtown with Mia and Victoria in tow, while Linn has travelled to visit her parents. David laces his fingers with Matteo’s free hand in that way where he covers the back of Matteo’s hand with his palm. They fit snugly.
Falling in love with Matteo brings a lot of things with it. For the first time, he brings someone with him to his godmother. For the first time, he is paraded around as someone’s boyfriend, and accepted into his friend group readily, Matteo’s friends becoming his friends. For the first time, he went on a crazy road trip that entailed hitchhiking and camping around in the middle of nowhere. For the first time, David felt secure and relaxed when someone wrapped their arms around him. For the first time, David talked about what it means to be him to someone who is not Laura or his doctors and therapists.
For the first time, he brings someone home, to Laura, to celebrate Hanukkah with. For the first time, he celebrates Christmas, because it is Matteo is used to doing, celebrating with Matteo’s mother.
“What’s on your mind?” Matteo asks, as he turns his head to look at David after pulling away to take a sip from his mug, a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips, looking at David like he is something wondrous. Matteo is wondrous, in David’s opinion. He picks up their linked hands, and presses a quick kiss on Matteo’s palm.
“Just, us.” David’s own face breaks into a small, contented smile, as he leans his forehead against Matteo’s and presses a kiss on his squishy button nose. He also steals a quick sip out of the mug he is holding.
“Hey! Not fair. My chocolate.” Matteo holds onto his mug indignantly, and David chuckles.
He pulls Matteo closer, impossibly closer, and kisses his cheek to make a point.
“My boyfriend.” He whispers into Matteo’s ear, who melts into the embrace and makes a pleased noise.
David thinks back to all the things about Matteo, and them. The first time they caught sight of each other in the corridor in school, when he felt Matteo’s lost eyes staring into his soul; the first time they talked to each other, when he saw the urge of Matteo to open up, and feeling the same to him, and that feeling of disappointment when Sara showed up. The feeling of confusion, when he nearly kissed Matteo and derailed his carefully crafted plan to lay low, pass abi and get out of dodge. The feeling of being on cloud nine, like never before, when he kissed Matteo for the first time. The fear of opening up about himself afterwards.
The moment of intense emotions when they let it all out, when Matteo found him in the pool and asked him what the fuck is he doing.
The feeling of finding home. To have Matteo there for him no matter what, and him doing the same for Matteo.
“Just that, I am so glad I have you.” David whispers a few moments later, as Matteo is resting his head on his chest, mug forgotten somewhere next to them, chuckling at the Snapchat stories of Jonas dancing stupidly in a party.
Matteo puts down his phone, and takes David’s face into his hands.
“You have done so much for me you don’t even have a clue.” He says as he kisses David.
“It’s the same for me.” He mutters against Matteo’s lips. “I love you.”
“Love you too.”
They can hear loud noises coming from the distance, as Matteo kisses David again.
1 January 2020
Mittwoch 00:00
The new year has come, and there are fireworks being set off downtown while people cheer. The comfort and quiet at home, as David thinks of the WG as home as much as his own, is a welcome change. He stands up, pulling Matteo into the flat with him, and pours them both a cup of hot chocolate before returning to the balcony, resting against the railing, observing the last of the fireworks lighting up the skies.
He raises his cup at Matteo, who chuckles and clinks his mug against David’s. “Better than alcohol huh?”
David just rolls his eyes and huddles closer to Matteo, slipping an arm around his waist.
“To the new year?” He offers, as he raises his mug a little again.
“To the new decade, of us.” Matteo says instead and kisses David.
Maybe, he fell in love for the last time. He has found home.

for us (and what’s to come) [2/?]
7 December 2019
Samstag 15:45
David is trying to tell himself that he’s not watching the door. But really he is. He’s been waiting for the fifteen minutes since he knew Matteo’s shift had ended despite knowing it takes at least twenty for him to walk home. It’s not David’s fault that he’s excited, it’s the first day in a couple weeks that it feels like everything has aligned. He’s not been at school, Matteo’s only had a three hour shift, and no one else is going to be in the WG until 17h. It’s perfect and David is hoping that they’re going to be able to spend some quality time together. The door clicks open seventeen minutes after Matteo’s shift ended and Matteo falls through the door in a clumsy mess, his breathing heavy and loud.
David gets up to walk over to him and try help him with his struggling out of his coat. “You alright?” David asks, hanging the coat up on the cook.
“No I just ran a kilometre and a half to be home earlier.” Matteo says finally catching his breath.
“Oh? Yeah, and why were you running?” David grins at him. He knows, they had joked about this afternoon when they woke up.
Matteo grins back and steps closer to wrap his arms around David’s waist. “Oh you know, something about finally having the flat empty and a boyfriend who isn’t exhausted from assignments…” He trails off leaning in to kiss David.
David happily kisses Matteo back and wraps his arms around his neck. Matteo starts walking and leading them through the flat. They’re almost practiced at this by now, making out and navigating the flat. They get into Matteo’s room in no time and David pulls back to push Matteo down on the bed. Matteo keeps his eyes on David while he’s taking off his pants and walking over to him.
They make out for a while, David spending some time leaving marks on Matteo’s neck. David moans almost too loud when Matteo pushes his hips up and he can feel just how hard he is under him. Matteo laughs softly at David, who shoves him.
“Oi no, you’re supposed to be kissing me not trying to fight me.” Matteo whines, pulling David down and kissing him. David doesn’t argue and just keeps on kissing him because really he doesn’t have the patience for being silly right now.
David gets Matteo out of his pants quickly and grinds down on him. He starts sliding his hands up Matteo’s shirt and is about to get the shirt over his head when the door slams open.
“Boys stop fucking. We’ve got a family emergency.” Hans says before either boy turns around to look at him. David doesn’t bother turning around, assuming Hans has left and just starts kissing Matteo again. “Boys come on, I’m not kidding.”
David groans and pulls back to look at Hans, “Really? You told us you were gonna be out all of today why is there suddenly an emergency?” David’s truly pissed because he doesn’t want to get up and deal with whatever this is right now.
“Yes now come on.” Hans leaves the room and Matteo starts laughing.
“Hey, what the fuck?” David says at it.
“Sorry sorry just, of course this happens right? Like of fucking course it was too perfect.” Matteo laughs.
They get up and get dressed, walking out to the living room where Mia and Linn are already sitting on the couch. “Do you know why this is happening?” David asks, still mad.
“Nope.” Linn shrugs.
Matteo nods and flops onto the couch, David falling into his lap. David wriggles around to get comfortable and Matteo hisses grabbing his hips. “Hey! No careful.” Matteo almost growls into David’s ear. David just grins at him, leaning back into his chest.
“Okay so I’m sure all of you are so curious about why I called you here for this meeting.” Hans starts, sitting across from them all on the coffee table.
“No not really.” Matteo says in a dead serious voice.
“Don’t be salty butterfly. Okay so anyways, since a lot of us have holiday plans I’ve decided that our party for the holidays is going to be this Friday.” Hans leans forward when he’s done talking as if he’s waiting for input on what he’s saying.
“That was the emergency?” David asks, he’s definitely pissed at this point. “Hans, you didn’t just interrupt us for that.”
“David it’s fine.” Matteo says, squeezing his hips again trying to calm him down.
“No, Matteo it’s not. We haven’t fucked in three weeks it’s not fine.” David turns around and looking at him dead in the eyes.
“Three weeks?” Hans asks behind them.
“Yeah, see why I’m pissed?” David glares at him for a second. Maybe it’s a bit much but really it’s not his fault at this point.
“Yeah, now that you know can you, y’know. Leave?” Matteo asks from behind David.
“Oh yeah yeah yeah.” Hans gets up and starts walking out.
David looks at Mia and Linn to see if they’re going to follow his lead. “Us too?” Mia asks. David nods. “Seriously? Guys come on we just got home.”
“Do not care.” Matteo says.
They walk the girls out and Matteo shuts the door. The second it clicks shut he turns to face David and basically jumps him, not that David minds at all.

for us (and what’s to come) [1/?]
So, I (@davenziabend) was wilding and said “We should be the druck in the absence of druck” at 4:29 a.m., so this is what happened, and probably more of this is going to come from us :)
×××
6 December 2019
Freitag 08:11
A ray of early morning sunshine shines on his face, as David flops and turns his back towards the window next to his, Matteo’s, their, bed. He quietly bemoans the fact that they have once again forgotten to draw the curtains before they headed to bed the night prior, but honestly, David cannot even care less given how he is tired to his bones.
Film school has been hard work, and don’t get David wrong, he loves what he is doing, but it is just that the end of the month cannot come soon enough, as David is really looking forward to the winter break to probably have a breather and spend more time with Matteo.
Speaking of…
He reaches out next to him, and finds only empty space, with only the warmth under the duvet hinting that someone was there at some point.
Cracking his eye open slightly, David looks around Matteo’s room blearily, as he is still so tired, and unfortunately not from any exciting activities he and Matteo had been up to, but just from a lack of rest. Matteo is nowhere to be seen. He can honestly do with a few more hours of sleep, and he can only wonder what his sweet and soft boyfriend, who has a notorious hatred for the mornings, is up to this early in the morning. Looking over to the bedside clock, the one he got for Matteo over the summer, he sees that it is only barely past eight in the morning.
He yawns and buries his face in the pillow again, hoping that Matteo is going to be back soon, as he is definitely up for a cuddle or three plus a lazy day since he doesn’t have classes today.
His eyes have barely closed when he hears the door to the room opening quietly, then soft, lazy footsteps, Matteo’s, padding towards the bed. Something is set down on the floor, and then the bed dips. An arm wraps around David’s middle, and his sensations are enveloped by Matteo. He turns slightly to nuzzle Matteo’s neck. He also smells something in the air.
“You up?” Matteo asks, pressing a kiss to the side of his head.
David hums in affirmation, cracking his eyes open again to see a soft, adoring smile hanging on Matteo’s face, though there is also a twinkle in his eye.
“Na?” David mutters, his voice cracks a little from disuse.
Matteo pulls away, bending towards the floor, as David pushes himself up against the wall, sleepily curious about what Matteo is up to.
And then he sees Matteo picking up a serving tray and putting it between them.
“Breakfast in bed.” Matteo says, with a little bit of pride in his voice, as David feels himself waking up more and a smile spreading across his face uncontrollably. Boy, does he love Matteo.
It isn’t just some sandwiches either, but baked eggs with tomatoes served some bread rolls, as well as a cup of coffee - black just like David likes it, set next to the milky one that is obviously Matteo’s. He really put some effort into this one.
David takes a spoonful of the food and it tastes heavenly - and no, he is not biased or just saying this just because Matteo is his boyfriend. It is just an objective fact.
He leans over and pecks Matteo on his lips, and Matteo’s smile widen, eyes crinkling. David feels like the sun is shining directly in his face, and that is definitely not due to them not drawing the curtains, nor does he mind this a single bit.
“You didn’t have to do this.” He says, as he nuzzles the bridge of Matteo’s squishy nose.
“I love doing this though. Can’t miss the chance when neither of us are in a rush.”
David takes a spoonful of the food again and feeds Matteo. “Cheesy. But I love you.”
“Love you too.” Matteo says around his mouthful of tomatoes.
And just like that, on a rare quiet weekday morning, the two of them stay cuddled up in bed, with a food tray between them, as they share breakfast together and chat quietly about everything and nothing, in a bubble of their own.

'cause i know you're gonna treat me right - davenzi fic [3/4]
heyo... i (@navollidiot) wrote this part from david’s pov, enjoy :)
×××
David can’t take his eyes off the boy sitting across from him.
He’s never exactly been the most adventurous person when it comes to dating, for a whole host of reasons, and logic follows that blind dates had always been pretty much off the table. But Omar had been insistent, and Amira had been so excited that he’d given in after several days of wheedling and coaxing from the two siblings.
And he’s never been more glad to have his reservations blown straight out of the water.
He had been worried that whatever mysterious guy Omar and Amira were setting him up with would be just another bland personality underneath a pretty face, but from the moment he’d locked gazes with those astonishingly blue eyes, half-hidden beneath a shock of blond hair, David had known that Matteo was something else. Entirely unexpected, and utterly intriguing.
They talk about everything and nothing in particular, coffees all but forgotten between them, and David notices that Matteo can never quite sit still, always needing to release his nervous energy somehow. He fidgets with his sleeves, his keys, the flaps of his wallet, talking all the while, even when he slides over the ceramic tin of creamers from the side of the table and begins stacking a little wall in front of himself, house-of-cards style.
It’s really fucking cute. Everything about Matteo is so cute. More than once, David finds himself staring at the way Matteo’s lips curl up at the edges whenever he’s trying to hold back a grin. After he finally manages to draw his first honest-to-God chuckle out of Matteo, David makes it his mission to make Matteo laugh as much as possible before the end of their date.
“I’m just saying,” Matteo waves a hand, “with all the shit that was going down during World War II, no one can be sure that the American military didn’t come into contact with extraterrestrials, because the aliens could have been like, ‘Hey, what the fuck are you doing?’ Everyone blowing shit up and dropping bombs and they might have been up there going, oh no, guess we gotta intervene, those silly humans back at it again. Hence, Roswell.” Matteo spreads his arms as if to rest his case.
“So you’re saying that the aliens are keeping tabs on us?” David is wheezing. He isn’t remotely aware of how they got on this topic, and at this point he doesn’t care.
“I mean, it’s not completely out of the question,” Matteo shrugs. “Sure, we might not be a threat to anyone but ourselves, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t entertaining to observe.”
David doesn’t say out loud that Matteo is indeed an excellent candidate for observation. His unruly, gravity-defying hair, his kind, sad eyes, his fingers that seem to always be twitching for something to touch, to grab onto. It’s all David can do to stop himself from reaching out to interlace his own hand with Matteo’s.
“So anyway,” Matteo lets out a giggle that makes David’s stomach do a backflip, “that was a very roundabout way for me to say that the place I’d want to visit most in America is Roswell, New Mexico. What about you?”
David doesn’t need to think about his answer at all. “Detroit.”
“Detroit?”
“Yeah,” David grins. “Best music city ever.”
Matteo nods thoughtfully for a moment. “Techno?”
“Not just techno. Rhythm and blues and soul, man, that’s where it’s at.” David pulls out his headphones and hands one end to Matteo before pulling up his playlist.
They listen to David’s favorite Motown artists for a good forty minutes, heads leaned in towards each other over David’s phone as he tells Matteo about the bigger names like the Supremes and the Temptations, Smokey Robinson and Diana Ross.
“But there was this one lady that most people forgot about, Mable John.” David scrolls through the list to find one of her songs. “Her little brother was Little Willie John. He was really famous, though he died young, but she’s still alive now. Nearly ninety years old, I think.”
He finds the song and hits play, setting down his phone and falling quiet as the piano introduction gives way to the lyrics. Matteo has one of his hands curled beneath his chin so he can prop up his head on one elbow, and his eyes are soft as they meet David’s.
“Little Willie and Mable remind me a lot of me and my sister,” David says quietly, looking away. He doesn’t elaborate why, doesn’t want to ruin the nice moment they have right now by talking about how he sees himself as the firework that would burn out fast but create a spectacle, while his sister is the candle that burns slowly and steadily through the darkest of nights.
But David thinks that maybe, in Matteo’s hands, his flame can stay lit a little longer.
Between them, Mable keeps singing, and David pulls up the lyrics on his screen for Matteo so he can understand what she’s saying.
getting myself back together is gonna be a big problem, i know but when the right man says he wants me you can bet i won't say no
Matteo looks at him again as the song goes through its final chorus, and his eyes are shining. David forgets how to breathe, maybe because Matteo is so close that he’s taken up all the oxygen between the two of them.
‘cause your real good thing is about to end
“It doesn’t have to,” Matteo whispers, as if in response to Mable. “This doesn’t have to end.”
your real good thing is about to come to an end
“I don’t want it to,” David whispers back.
The music fades as Matteo puts his hand on David’s cheek and brings him in for a kiss. It’s so very sweet and ends much too soon, so David doesn’t let him pull away completely. Rests their foreheads together, lines up his breathing with Matteo’s. He doesn’t say anything though, just smiles and curls his fingers into Matteo’s hair.
He’s pretty sure that their good thing has only just started.

'cause i know you're gonna treat me right - davenzi fic [2/4]
hello hello here’s the next part written by noah @shhhhyoursister !!!
×××
“Hi.” David says, and his voice is so nice that Matteo takes a second too long to respond, and David tilts his head and lifts an eyebrow, his smile turning into something more questioning.
“Oh, uh,” Matteo clears his throat when his voice comes out a little rough, “hi.”
“Do you want to sit?” David asks with a bit of a smirk, and Matteo lets out a nervous laugh before walking around the table and sinking into the chair Omar had been sitting in. There’s a bit of an awkward silence as they stare at each other, Matteo’s eyes unable to focus on David’s for too long before they’re shifting around the cafe, occasionally looking back to stare at the septum piercing in his nose. Matteo tries hard to think of something to say, but before he can David lets out a chuckle.
“Do you want a drink? I’m going to get myself a coffee. I can get you something too, if you want. My treat.” David smiles again, and Matteo wonders for a moment if he ever stops smiling before he actually processes what David said, and he blinks.
“Oh, uh. Coffee is good.”
“Do you want any food? Their scones are pretty good, and I think they have sandwiches too.”
“No, I’m good. I ate a big breakfast.” He doesn’t quite know why that awkward lie slips out of his mouth, but it does before he can stop it, and David purses his lips as if he can tell that Matteo had panicked.
“Two coffees it is, then.”
David starts to stand, but before he gets up Matteo remembers his offer and rushes to say, “Oh, and you don’t have to pay for me!”
David rolls his eyes a little and gets out of his seat, calling a, “Don’t worry about it,” over his shoulder as he gets on the line.
Once his back is turned and his attention is on something he’s typing on his phone, Matteo puts his elbows on the table and drops his face into his hands, cursing Amira for not only surprising him with a fucking blind date, but a blind date that also happens to be one of, if not the hottest guys Matteo has ever seen, let alone interacted with.
Matteo thinks some not very nice things about his best friend until his phone buzzes, and he pulls it out, and his jaw drops. His eyes start scanning around the room after he reads the text from Amira that says Why are you being so quiet? Give him a chance, idiot. She has to have snuck back in while he wasn’t paying attention, but he doesn’t see her in the cafe. He texts back Maybe I’d give him more of a chance if I knew he was going to be here, and is startled when there’s suddenly a hand in front of his face, placing a cup of coffee on the table in front of him.
“So,” David starts, a sheepish smile on his face as he takes his seat again, “you don’t seem super… into this whole thing. You don’t have to stay, if you don’t want to. And you can keep the coffee.”
“No, no,” Matteo says quickly, his hand coming up to wave off David’s suggestion and almost knocking his coffee over, “I want- um, I’ll stay. I just… wasn’t really expecting this.”
“Expecting what, exactly?” The corners of David’s lips turn down a little as he asks, his head tilting to the side, his eyes losing a little of their shine.
“Well, um, I didn’t really know this was going to be a, you know. A- a date. I thought I was just coming here with Amira, and she told me the truth right before we walked in.”
He smiles a little when David’s eyes pop open and his jaw drops, an almost amused look on his face as he asks, “Wait, are you fucking serious?”
“Yeah, I’m sorry. She’s my best friend but I hate her.”
David’s face softens into something a little apologetic, and he reaches a hand out and places it on the table in front of Matteo as he starts saying, “Oh my god, I’m sorry, I thought you knew? You really can leave if you want, especially if you weren’t expecting this, I’m so sorry.”
“Why are you apologizing? It isn’t your fault that our friends are apparently really sneaky and deceitful.”
“Well, I knew this was a date, so I don’t know if I’d say Omar is sneaky.” David says in a teasing tone and Matteo blushes at the word date, and David must notice because he grins, showing the dimple in his cheek again.
“I guess Amira is the only liar, then.”
David laughs and Matteo smiles at him, showing teeth before he tightens his lips. David’s laugh was even nicer than his voice, and he wants to hear it again, missing it the second it stops.
“So now that you officially know that this is a date, how are you feeling? No pressure, but if you’re okay with it,” David pauses for a moment, looking down for a moment before looking back up with a smile and a shrug, “I wouldn’t mind staying a while.”
Matteo looks down at his hands that are wrapped around his cup and he takes a sip, giving himself a moment to consider what he wants to say. Matteo’s conflicted, his annoyance at Amira making him want to walk out out of pure pettiness, but David’s gentle smile makes him fine with the idea of staying for hours upon hours, as long as David stays with him.
“I wouldn’t mind that, either.”
“Okay then, it’s settled,” David says with a smirk, taking a sip of his drink before fixing Matteo with a look that makes his cheeks heat up a little, “I guess we’re staying here.”

'cause i know you're gonna treat me right - davenzi fic [1/4]
hello! this has been a long time coming but since it's the start of a new month (and nanowrimo season, no less) i figured we should go ahead and post this little thing that some of us have helped write! im going to stagger these out just a little but this fic is (currently) 75% done and relatively quite short so don't worry :)
this first part was written by our very own yon @chlouais so give them a follow if you like what you see <3
×××
“So it’s actually pretty stupid to think that there are no aliens anywhere. It’s egotistical!” Matteo finishes with a huff, his hands dropping to his sides. Amira nods and Matteo can tell that she’s humoring him. She’s squinting ahead of them as they walk toward the cafe they chose for coffee today.
“Look,” Matteo says, “I know you think I’m an idiot, but I think the aliens thing is a reasonable position.” Amira finally looks at him.
“What? No, I don’t think that.” She smiles a little, “Well, I do think you’re an idiot, but not for your position on aliens.” Matteo’s mouth quirks up and he shoulders her gently as they walk. Amira’s eyes flick forward again and she suddenly rounds on Matteo. He stumbles into her as they abruptly come to a stop but she braces his arms and stares him in the eyes with an unexpected intensity.
“Amira, wh--”
“Okay, listen to me Matteo. We’re not getting coffee. I have somewhere to be.” Her voice is level but slightly urgent.
“Amira, what the fuck, I thought--” Amira cuts him off again with a wave of her hand. Matteo swallows. Amira’s face says she means business. He thinks he might not like what he’s about to hear.
“You’re about to go on a date, okay?”
“AMIRA--”
“No, listen to me. Do you remember when you agreed to go on a blind date?”
“What?? No??”
“You may have been high,” Amira says, and at least she sounds a little guilty now. “But you agreed, and Omar has this friend--”
“Amira, no, fuck no, I’m not doing this--”
“Matteo.” It’s the tone of her voice that makes him pause. He closes his mouth on the next protest he was about to voice. She looks at him steadily. “Have I ever let you down?”
He feels his shoulders drop, “Well… no.”
“Matteo,” she says again, softer, “I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t think it would be good. I know things like this stress you out, but I think it’ll be worth it. Do you trust my judgment?”
Matteo feels his body deflate a little as he exhales. Amira was pretty much never wrong. But he can’t make himself nod, can’t make himself agree. He looks at her and wills her to understand. Her hands rub up and down his arms and she smiles. She links her arm with his, still looking at him, and starts walking toward the cafe again.
He feels anxiety seizing his body and he’s glad for Amira’s arm looped through his, keeping him grounded, as they approach the door of the cafe. Amira glances at him and smiles reassuringly as she pushes the door open.
Matteo scans the cafe and spots Omar, who turns his head and gives them a bright smile. Matteo smiles back and is just about to lift his hand in a wave when the person seated across from Omar turns his head to follow Omar’s gaze.
Matteo only barely keeps himself from stopping dead as his heart leaps into his throat. This boy is fucking breathtaking, his dark eyes shining, the last trace of a dimple fading as his face seems to go slack. His hair is a dark mess of curls and as they walk closer to the table Matteo can spot a septum piercing in the boy’s nose. The boy blinks--his eyelashes a black fan against his cheeks--and his mouth pulls into a smile on one side. Matteo feels the air rush out of his lungs.
Omar claps a hand on Matteo’s shoulder and Matteo startles. Omar is grinning at him and Matteo wants to die.
“Matteo, this is my friend David. Litschi and I are gonna go, so we’ll catch up with you later. Have a good time, okay?”
Matteo feels his panic rush back all at once. He looks at Amira desperately and she nods at him, giving his arm a slight squeeze before letting go. She and Omar walk by him and toward the door.
Matteo swallows and turns back to David. His mouth has gone dry. David gives him a small smile and despite the crushing panic in his chest, Matteo finds himself smiling back.
