Duration: Instantaneous

Choose a corpse within range. You bite into the corpse draining the lingering energy of life and causing a spider to grow within the body. You heal 1d4 hit points and a spiderling crawls out of the corpse once you complete the spell.

One each of your turns, you can use a bonus action to mentally command any spiderling you made with this spell if it is within 60 feet of you. (If you control multiple spiderlings, you can command any or all of them at the same time, issuing the same command to each one). You decide what action the spiderling will take and where it will move during its next turn, or you can issue a general command, such as to guard a specific chamber or corridor. If you issue no commands, the spiderling only defends itself against hostile creatures. Once given an order, the spiderling continues to follow it until its task is complete.

The spiderling is under your control for 24 hours, after which it dies and leaves its corpse behind. You can use that corpse to recast this spell on it and create a new spiderling. This use of the spell allows you to use four corpses to create more spiderlings rather then creating a new one.

At higher levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th level or higher, you can target two additional corpses to heal and create spiderlings from either use of the spell. (Using new corpses or recreating spiderlings from expired spiderling corpses.) Each spiderling must come from a different corpse.
