“Oya, no need to cry.” He can hear it in her voice -- though he’s one to talk, considering he’s tearing up a little as well. (Don’t let anyone know that it’s far too easy to make him cry when he’s touched.)

So, Hektor spins Andromache around a bit before placing her back to her feet. “I as well! I would say I’ve been alright, but it’s so dreary when you aren’t around. It’s no fun at all to be fighting in wars when you’re not behind me! But there’s a good many friends here, too, so I’ll forgive your late arrival.” He laughs brightly. “Have you shown up anywhere before here?”

y’all remember the time where after Hektor visited Troy and saw Andromache for the last time, she knew it would be the last time and simultaneously was working on weaving things for a victor and commanding the castle servants to begin making funeral garments and arranging for how she would take care of hektor’s funeral. while she wove a talisman that amounted to a prayer to bring a soldier home alive. yall just think about andromache knowing she would never speak to hektor again and being strong enough to hold onto hope and pragmatism, keeping so much of the castle running and literally never giving up ever in her life even when the trojan war took away every single member of her family. how her entire life was destroyed and she was abused and mistreated but continued on because she refused to let the achaeans take away her personality, too, and through her power alone she rose to a second throne and created a family she could love again and preserve some facet of the priamedes line because she would never let the achaeans destroy her.

yall ever just think about andromache and how absolutely strong she is

Which is for the best, as while his own cooking is reliably decent, that does not mean it’s good.

And also because he loves Andromache and everything she is even adjacent to.

anyways my favourite hektor quote and what i base half his morals on is “i know nothing save to fight bravely alongside my men” so achilles / menelaos / agamemnon / paris allowing their men to fight while they remain in the back is like 99.9999% of what made hektor lose respect for them as royals so if u wont fight at the lead in ur own army then fuck you

Hektor truthfully doesn’t care one way or the other if Achilles is dead. He gets why Achilles is a hero, and sees him as more deserving of the title than himself -- at least in terms of brute strength. (Put it this way: he sees Achilles as a hero of battle, but not a prince or leader.)

He just doesn’t like Achilles, and although he truly doesn’t hold a grudge over what Achilles did to him, Hektor’s grudge is over a) Achilles helping sack the Trojans and b) Achilles’ refusal to fight alongside his allies. He does not trust Achilles near things he loves, though he realizes that this is a largely irrational paranoia (simply put, Hektor knows Achilles has no reason to harm Master or the peace within Chaldea, but he knows Achilles as a man who destroys Hektor’s family and things he holds dear, so part of him is extremely defensive but that part is not given pre-eminence.) 

All in all, he’d rather just avoid Achilles. Sometimes he’ll get in a mood and want to start a fight because he’s frustrated or bitter, but most of the time he wants to keep out of Achilles’ way because he’s got zero desire to see the guy.

Also, because of Hektor’s story, he cannot win a single duel against Achilles. This much is written into his incarnation. He cannot and will never manage to singlehandedly defeat Achilles, and frankly doesn’t really want to try in a serious manner.

Fortunate for her that his arms truly are big and strong, and that his instinct is to catch her when she feigns a collapse against him. Well, it’s fine to keep his arm about her. Probably.  she giggles yet again, taking a small hand and covering one of his while he held her (or at least, trying to. her hand is very small..) 

    “i only want to go if i can go with papa and master ~!! that way it’ll be even more fun !!!” there are many stories she can think of .. adventures and things, but she thinks mayhaps this form is too small for one of those princess stories with all that romance and things, it would be much more fun to adventure with her papa !! “maybe we can meet a dragon!!” 

“Knowing Master’s life, I’m sure they’ll be dragged into any adventure that pops up alongside us.” To say the least. So long as Rhyme is having fun, he’ll go along with whatever’s suggested. “Probably. Most dragons aren’t very friendly though. But this old man’s practiced in defeating them, so it’ll be fine.” He’d add ‘except Miss Jalter’ except, nah, she’s also not entirely friendly.

There’s a bit of pause given when he comes across Jekyll lying passed out in the halls. Why he’s like this is beyond Hektor, and probably not his business, but that doesn’t mean Hektor’s not going to hoist Jekyll up over his shoulder.

It’s not like Jekyll’s too heavy. He carries the doctor off to somewhere he won’t get tripped over (likely Jekyll’s own room, Hektor knows where it is).

Jekyll stirs eventually. Hektor can feel him looking over, and all Hektor does is laugh to himself. “No sleeping in the halls, kid.”
