quick proportion tips
- eyeballs are an eyeball width apart - ears align with the top of your brows to the bottom of your nose, and are the center-point of a profile view - lip corners line up to the center of each eye - hands are roughly the size of your face - feet are the same size as your forearm - elbows are aligned with your belly-button - your hands reach down mid-length of your thighs - both upper and lower legs (individually) are roughly the same size as your torso  (this is all rough estimates for proportion! feel free to add more to help others)

Know what I’m salty about?
In all my art classes, I was never taught HOW to use the various tools of art.
Like yes, form, and shape and space and color theory and figure drawing is important, but so is KNOWING what different tools do.
I’m 29 and I JUST learned this past month that India Ink is fucking waterproof when it dries. Why is this important? Because I can line something in India Ink and then go over it with watercolors. And that has CHANGED the ENTIRE way I art and the ease I can create with.
tldr: Art Teachers: teach your students what different tools do. PLEASE.

"tiktok has massive problems that even if you don't agree with a complete ban have to be addressed for all social media platforms" and "the Chinese government is doing pretty awful things" and "there is a lot of sinophobic fearmongering and double standards in the conversation about tiktok" and "people should exercise basic caution signing up to foreign or domestic social media" and "most Chinese citizens like US citizens are just people living their life and cultural exchange between them can be beneficial for both sides" and "some people being on the same social media site isn't going to solve everything " and "I want to study the linguistics happening there under a microscope" are opinions that can coexist

let's recap what we've learned about the United States in the last few days.
things that are terrorism:
allegedly shooting a healthcare CEO whose company generated more pure profit (not revenue, profit) in a year than the GDP of 94 countries, exclusively by denying coverage to people who pay for it
a 42-year-old mother of 2 using the wrong combination of 7 words during a heated conversation with a call center employee at a health insurance company who was in the process of denying her health coverage.
things that are not terrorism:
mass shooting in a Black church to incite a race war
going to a BLM protest specifically to kill protestors
a neo-nazi running over a crowd of people, killing a woman
targeting and killing 23 latinos in an el paso, texas walmart
killing 12 people in a theatre, shooting 58 others, rigging your apartment with explosives
a QAnon groyper killing 7 and shooting ~50 at a 4th of July parade
killing 3 people and shooting several others at a Planned Parenthood in defense of the unborn
stalking someone relentlessly and then killing them and their child despite months of the victim making police reports
any one of the 1,200 murders committed by US police yearly, the vast majority being minorities
tightening your border while ~100 immigrants (including children) drown every year in the Rio Grande
United Healthcare killing an unnknowable number of elderly people by using faulty AI to deny medically necessary coverage
Aetna killing a woman by refusing to cover her cancer care
Blue Cross killing a 6-year-old by denying her appendicitis surgery
Cigna killing a 17-year-old child by denying her liver transplant
the pharmaceutical industry killing half a million people with opioids in the name of producing revenues in 2023 that rivaled the GDPs of countries like Spain, Mexico, and Australia.
the United States killing 45,000 people a year because they can't access health coverage
make sure you keep this guide handy the next time you find yourself interacting with your insurance company or any other millionaire, billionaire, or an individual who is part of a protected class such as a CEO or president of a corporation.

Guys what if we wrote our own Declaration of Independence. What if we rewrote the Constitution, adding updates like it was intended. What if we overthrew the oppressive government that is in charge. The issue is that America seems so big, but we could do it.

ponyboy curtis who used to cry when his father, mother, or brothers talked to him with even the slightest tone of disappointment or raised their voice a decibel
ponyboy curtis, who can’t vocalize why he’s upset when he’s really upset— who confuses everyone (besides johnny, since he does it too) when he completely goes silent after arguing with darry a moment ago
sodapop curtis, who was thrown into high school and expected to be a second darry curtis but couldn’t learn anything that wasn’t hands on, his only a’s coming from gym class or that mandatory workshop class
sodapop curtis, who cannot lock in for the life of him unless you give him a puzzle he has to put together or a car that needs fixing (both are the same to him)
darry curtis, who couldn’t stop talking about football after getting his hands on one for the first time when he was nine, whether it was at the dinner table, the locker room, or with ponyboy (who was never the sporty type when he was smaller)
darry curtis, using the little amounts of money his parents gave him to go and buy books about sports, making the sunday game a mandatory watch (he can’t have his routines interrupted or else he’ll get MAD.), and knowing an abnormal amount of information about the dallas cowboys
the curtis brothers, who feel things differently, but love each other all the same

Behold:
A thing
The chore chart appears a couple weeks after the death of Mr. And Mrs. Curtis. The creation of it comes after countless arguments about people pulling their weight. You do your chores and you get a gold star. They boys claim they don't care about getting stars but it quickly becomes a contest on who gets the most. (Winner gets a treat at the end of the week) (Pony steals the stars out of the junk drawer but absolutely denies it, it becomes obvious though when magically him and Johnny have more than anyone.)
The chores are assigned randomly and switch at the end of the week. Darry writes them on masking tape for easy transfer.
Dally ripped the chart in a fit of rage after Darry yelled at him for not vacuuming one week.
Every week is a new angry note written on cardboard in the spot where his stars are supposed to go. He did his chores one week because Johnny was sick and he didn't want johnny to strain himself but otherwise he ignores the chore chart.
There are certain chores they are better at than others. Two-Bit isn't allowed to vacuum after he tried to vacuum up beer caps instead of picking them up by hand. Steve and Soda had to perform emergancy surgery on the vacuum.
The chore chart is another way the gang searches for consistency in their new life. It causes bickering but brings comfort.
