me when people say that Wolfstar is “basically canon”
[grabs your shoulders and shakes you] something being widely accepted fanon does not actually make it "basically canon" and it doesn't mean people who don't incorporate it into their fics or acknowledge it are doing something wrong

In my mind, Theo is on the same level of being a narcissistic drama queen as Draco. Why? I don’t know 😂
Them both wanting to be the center of attention all the time? Would result in some interesting group dynamic and I’m here for it!

Harry: Thank you for inviting me to Draco’s wedding today, Mrs Malfoy
Narcissa: Yes, it’s no problem, dear
Harry: This is probably a stupid question, but who is Draco marrying? I haven’t seen them?
Lucius: You. You’re the fiancé. This is your wedding with Draco
Harry: Wait, what?
Lucius: There’s your officiant. This is your wedding ring. I suggest taking him somewhere far, far away for your honeymoon.
Narcissa: For a week
Lucius: Here’s some money, make it two
Draco, walking in: Oh! This is beautiful! Who’s having a wedding today?

Worst Snater take I’ve seen is “Well I was abused too and I don’t behave like that.”
Well good for you, a real person with free will and ability to heal and grow, acting morally superior to a fictional character.
A lot of people in the Snape fandom have been through the shite and are also healing and getting better. Doing well does not mean you can’t have empathy for a character who never got the chance or help to heal.

I'm tired of people comparing Regulus to Severus and arguing that Regulus is better because he switched sides and sacrificed himself to switch the Horcrux.
1 — They're ignoring the fact that we barely know anything about Regulus. Personally, I see little difference between Regulus and Severus when it comes to changing sides: Regulus betrayed Voldemort after Kreacher's life was threatened, much like Severus betrayed Voldemort after Lily's life was endangered.
2 — In another comment, they claim that "Severus had no issue joining a group of mass murderers while Regulus was forced by his family." However, there is no evidence indicating that Regulus cared about Muggleborns at all. He was perfectly content with aligning himself with a group that targeted and killed both Muggles and Muggleborns until someone he cared about faced danger.
3 — If stealing a Horcrux makes Regulus a good person, then dedicating nearly half his life to the Order makes Severus an even greater person, doesn't it? Why would you highlight one character's contributions to the war while disregarding the other's?
4 — Nobody is defending Severus' mistreatment of students. Get over it. We're simply tired of people idolizing characters like Barty, Regulus and Rosier while simultaneously vilifying Severus.
5 — It was easier for Regulus Black to betray the Death Eaters than it was for Severus Snape because Regulus wasn't bound to the group through trauma. Regulus didn't join the Death Eaters because he felt it was the only place he belonged. On the other hand, Severus had nowhere else to go. He suffered abuse, bullying, and neglect his entire life. When he was sexually assaulted or nearly killed by a werewolf, nobody at school showed any type of care towards him. It was undoubtedly more difficult for Severus to betray Voldemort to join a group that had consistently shown him no concern—a group we've considered the "good side" all along.
6 — The only reason people think Regulus was a better person is because he is DEAD. We never witness him interacting with others or speaking with Muggleborns. We will never truly know what kind of person he was. It's merely an assumption that he must have been an angel who was forced to join a group full of mass murderers. (Get your headcanon out of my face.)
7 — Comparing a privileged, wealthy child who never experienced any form of discrimination his whole entire life to a child born in poverty and constantly bullied for merely existing is very weird. Naturally, they would exhibit different behaviors.
To clarify, I love Regulus Black, but believing that he is better than Severus, who devoted his entire life to the Order, is very wrong.

A Rant
An argument that I hate to see Anti-Snape people use is “if Lily hadn’t been targeted by Voldemort, Snape would still be a Death Eater”.
Like, do y’all not realize how many stories would be different if someone that a protagonist cared about wasn’t threatened by death/other dangers?
*cracks knuckles*
Some examples of these stories & why I hate this argument:

I love looking at Harry Potter merchandise from the early 2000s. Lately I've just been searching Snape on ebay and getting a kick out of scrolling through pages and pages of old toys. One thing I keep noticing is that in this early official art, Snape is often depicted as having long black nails XD I screenshotted several examples here. Honestly I kind of love it. Makes me contemplate adding that touch to the way I draw him. Though it seems kind of impractical for potion making XD But what do I know.

I love people like this
When we say “Snaters” THIS is not who we mean. This is a lovely, regular Snape anti.
Snaters are the ones who flood Snape edits with “sTan bAmBi” “sTaN JaMeS pOtTeR” (imagine boosting an edit of a character you don’t like just to feel .2 seconds of “I ate that”) or ppl who just go out of their way to be wrong or fully in need of an online restraining order
Speaking of Snape edits…snape editors have my entire heart. Y’all have the best transition edits, the most angst, the most badass audios, AND y’all have no shame when it comes to simping. No shame at all.

Goblet of Fire
I find it quite surprising how underrated the memory of Igor Kararoff was when he was interrogated during his trial.
Out of desperation to exonerate himself, he begins to list multiple Death Eaters and their crimes.
But in a last-ditch effort, he names his last one before Barty Crouch Jr's - Severus Snape. As a last thought, he is the final one to be ushered.
And the best thing about this? ...He couldn't even list a single one of his crimes, except for his remaining faithful to the Lord Voldemort.
But he still doesn't list his actual crimes.
No list of torture, or murder. Nothing else.
And this scene quite nicely compliments Severus' conversation with Bellatrix during the Unbreakable Vow chapter, later in the story.
'Slithering out of action' while the rest ran dangers.
So none of this 'Snape tortured, r*ped, and murdered mass amounts of people' kind of garbage the snaters say. Two high-profile DEs couldn't even assign him a crime. Three, if you count Narcissa (a supporter) who was with Bellatrix.

everyone says that snape only did what he did for lily therefore he is not a good person, and i would like to remind everyone that one of the biggest parts of snape's arc was him changing his raison d'etre. he's not doing it for lily, but for everyone else.
the one thing that snape needed to do to redeem himself and for her honour was to keep harry potter alive, safe from the enemy. but harry is a horcrux and horcruxes need to be destroyed in order to defeat the ultimate evil.
when severus tells dumbledore his patronus, that scene boils down to him saying "but she's my heart. i've been able to do all of this because of her." but he has to let it go. it's not for her anymore, it can't be, he has to go directly against his own hearts desires, own terrible guuit because it's bigger than that now. it's for the wizarding world. it's why he rips the photo and keeps her side. why he weeps on the floor. because it's all been for her but that's not enough anymore.
so i believe that snape was ultimately a good person. because he put aside his own personal wishes and kept pressing forward for the greater good, trying to save EVERYONE. the order, remus, harry, ron, hermione, neville, ginny, luna, the castle, everyone. all at the cost of his own life. and moreover, the last image we ever see of snape is him leaving dumbledore's office with the sword of gryffindor. the moment he shares his patronus with harry, the only person to share any part of harry's mother with him, the most neglected parent over the entire series, in order to give him strength, courage and valour, the things he needed to get the sword. and when he dies, he tells harry to take them. take the memories and essence of who lily was. a bold and brazen girl, who was not afraid to speak her mind. sound like anyone?
and he looks into his eyes. and lets lily go. and his life go. giving literally his all, to save the wizarding world.
so yes, snape is a good person.

Marauder stans really be like “my unpopular Harry Potter opinions” and then say things like:
Snape is not nice
Sirius was treated badly by his parents
James and Lily died on October 31st
Regulus cared about Kreacher
Remus is a werewolf
Harry is an orphan
Peter betrayed the Marauders
Voldemort killed people

Ngl, I often headcanon James as bisexual as well since I sometimes ironically ship him with Snape, but again like, as a joke.
And also, I don’t think the marauders stans think that deep either but I’d say they rather hd James as a POC because they subconsciously don’t want him to be white
hot take: people often hc James as POC or with like indian roots (and often bisexual as well) because they can’t comprehend or acknowledge the idea that they are defending and glorifying a rich privileged cisgender and straight white man.
and it’s kind of funny
