An object is known as a "universe" if its tightest container is the globality—also known as the multiverse.

An object is known as a "dimension" if its tightest container is another object that is itself contained by the globality.

A dimension whose tightest container is a universe is denoted as a "first order dimension." One whose tightest container is a first order dimension is denoted as a "second order dimension," and so on.

Dimensions can be referred to with respect to other objects. For example, for two first order dimensions A and B within a universe, dimension A can be referred to as a "universe with respect to dimension B." The tightest container of the dimension essentially becomes a local globality.

Of course, there are multiple definitions of "containment" in trans-universal metaphysics. By default, containment is assumed to be based on HPE dependencies. Other systems of containment must be explicitly noted, as well as HPE dependency when used in conjunction with other definitions. For example, an object that is a dimension according to coordinate analysis is denoted as a "coordinate dimension."
